Richmond is a minor suburb of Christchurch, New Zealand. Situated to the inner north east of the city centre, the suburb is bounded by Shirley Road to the north, Hills Road to the west, and the Avon River to the south and east. In 2018, ongoing earthquake repairs and flood mitigation work were causing disruption within Richmond.

The Four Avenues are a group of four major arterial boulevards — Bealey Avenue, Fitzgerald Avenue, Moorhouse Avenue, and either Rolleston Ave or Deans Avenue — that surround the city centre of Christchurch, New Zealand. Serving as an inner ring road, they popularly form the limits of the city centre, separating it from the city's suburbs. Almost all of the city's commercial heart lies within the approximately rectangular 9.8-square-kilometre (3.8 sq mi) area formed by the four avenues. The term "within the Four Avenues" is widely used in Christchurch to refer to the central city. By extension, Christchurch as a whole is sometimes referred to as "The Four Avenues". Historically, Rolleston Avenue, rather than Deans Avenue, was regarded as the fourth of the four avenues, but reconstruction of Christchurch City Centre following the 2011 Christchurch earthquake has officially made Deans Avenue a boundary of the CBD. This has enlarged the central area to include Hagley Park, a green area which dominates the western end of the city's centre. Technically, this means there are five, not four, avenues, as Deans Avenue does not connect directly with Bealey Avenue, the two being connected by the shorter Harper Avenue, which skirts the northern edge of Hagley Park. The avenues were named for early Christchurch city founding fathers (Samuel Bealey, John and William Deans, James FitzGerald, William Sefton Moorhouse, and William Rolleston), with the exception of Harper Avenue (formerly Park Road) which was renamed in 1931 to honour retiring Christchurch Domains Board chairman Sir George Harper.

The Church of Confessing Anglicans Aotearoa/New Zealand (CCAANZ) is an evangelical Anglican denomination in New Zealand. It is not a member of the Anglican Communion as recognised by the current Archbishop of Canterbury, but is recognised by the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON). The church consists of 17 parishes, some of which consist of clergy and church members who left the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia after it allowed bishops to authorise blessings of same-sex marriages, and some of which were newly established at the time of the formation of the church.

The Barbadoes Street Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in Christchurch, New Zealand. It was set up with three discrete areas for different denominations.

McLean's Mansion (originally Holly Lea) is a homestead in Christchurch, New Zealand. The two hectares property is situated between Manchester and Colombo Streets. The mansion was initially known as 'Holly Lea', but later became known as McLean's Mansion after its initial owner. It is the largest wooden residence in New Zealand. The mansion, designed by Robert England, architect of Christchurch, is a fusion of styles of Jacobean architecture and Victorian features, akin to the Mentmore Towers (1852–54) of Sir Joseph Paxton in Buckinghamshire in England. It was built between April 1899 and September 1900. The house is registered as a Category I heritage building by Heritage New Zealand. After the 2011 Christchurch earthquake, the owners applied to demolish the earthquake-damaged buildings, but their request was denied by the heritage body and the courts. In December 2016, the building sold to a trust that will restore it for use as a gallery. Restoration is expected to be finished by 2024.

English Park is a football stadium in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is the home stadium of Canterbury United, which competes in the ASB Premiership, as well as Western AFC which currently compete in the Mainland Premier League. The stadium has a capacity of approximately 3,000 people. English Park was used for cycle racing. For example, races were held in December 1927 and February 1928 to raise funds for Harry Watson so that he could compete in the 1928 Tour de France as part of the Australasian Ravat-Wonder-Dunlop cycling team; Watson was the first New Zealander to compete in the Tour de France. In 1929, English Park was used for motorcycle speedway meetings until a competing organiser in Woolston bought out the interests in that sport.English Park is the headquarters for Mainland Football, the largest of the seven football federations within New Zealand. From 2010 to 2011 the playing surface was changed from natural grass to FIFA approved artificial turf, new lighting was also installed to enable night matches, and trainings. In 2013 a café stall was installed. The park also features four team changing rooms, one officials changing room, one lounge with a bar, one kitchen, and a number of offices which are occupied by Mainland Football The park also hosts a number of early season Mainland Premier League games, and during the winter season where grass pitches are unplayable. Currently, most English, and Reta Fitzpatrick Cup games are played during the midweek in the evenings at the ground. The finals for both competitions are played over one day, during early September.

The St Mary's Pro-Cathedral, or St Mary's Church, is a Catholic church located on Manchester Street in Christchurch, in the South Island of New Zealand.It serves as the seat of the bishop of the Latin Church Diocese of Christchurch (Dioecesis Christopolitana), which was erected in 1887. The parish was established in 1889, and the building served as a parish church from its construction until it obtained the temporary status of pro-cathedral, as a result of the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011, in which the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament was seriously damaged and later demolished.

Aotearoa People's Network Kaharoa provides free internet access to New Zealand public libraries. Funding is provided by the New Zealand government by way of Community Partnership Fund and the National Library of New Zealand. The service was established in 2007, and is based in the Christchurch office of the National Library. It is governed by a Governance Group which has included people such as Paul Reynolds. The network provides and maintains desktop computers and WiFi equipment at around 120 partner libraries, and provides them filtered internet access in conjunction with internet service provider Snap. As of 2009, all partner libraries receive the equipment and access at no cost, although the funding is periodically reviewed.In October 2009, Aotearoa People’s Network Kaharoa won the 3M Award for Innovation in Libraries.In October 2010, Aotearoa People’s Network Kaharoa won Best Access Initiative 2010 from the Australia and New Zealand Internet Best Practise Awards.

Firefighters Reserve is a memorial in Christchurch, New Zealand for the first responders during the September 11 attacks on the United States in 2001. The reserve contains the A Tribute to Firefighters monument which has steel girders which were originally in the Twin Towers. First responders gather around the monument every year on the attacks' anniversary.

The Rose Historic Chapel, formerly known as the St Mary's Convent Chapel, is a heritage-listed stone church building located in Colombo Street in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is registered as a "Historic Place – Category II " by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. The building was designed in the Gothic Revival style and erected in 1910.

Oxford Terrace Baptist Church is located in the Christchurch Central City on a prominent corner property fronting the Avon River. The original building was significantly damaged in the 2010 Canterbury earthquake and collapsed in the subsequent February 2011 Christchurch earthquake. This building had a Category II listing by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. A new building was opened on Christmas Eve 2017.

St Luke's Church in Christchurch was registered as a Category II historic place with the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. Built on one of the five sites set aside in the central city in the original survey of Christchurch for the Anglican church, it was demolished in July 2011 following damage sustained in the February 2011 Christchurch earthquake.
