Woman with Mirror (Spanish: Mujer con espejo) is a 1987 bronze sculpture in Madrid, Spain, by the Colombian sculptor Fernando Botero. The 1,000-kilogram (2,200 lb) sculpture is of a nude woman with a large figure lying on her front; this body shape is a trademark of the sculptor.In May 1994, an exhibition of Botero's works began in Madrid; by September, it had attracted two million visitors. A survey was taken by the sponsor, Caja Madrid, in which the most voted sculpture would be gifted for public exhibition in the city. Woman with Mirror was the most voted sculpture.After being gifted to the city, the sculpture was installed on the Calle de Génova, near the entrance to the Plaza de Colón. By April 1995, two more of Botero's Madrid exhibits were on public display: The Hand (bought by Telefónica), and Raptio of Europa at Madrid–Barajas Airport.

The Palace of Villamejor (Spanish: Palacio de Villamejor) is a palace located on the Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid, Spain. The state purchased it in 1914 from the Marquesses of Villamejor to serve as the residence of the Prime Minister, a role that it maintained until 1976, when Adolfo Suárez moved the official residence over to the Palace of Moncloa. The palace now houses the Ministry for Territorial Policy.

The Monument to Columbus (Spanish: Monumento a Colón) is a monument in Madrid, Spain. It lies on the namesake square, the Plaza de Colón. The basement of the monument is a Gothic revival work by Arturo Mélida while the topping statue is a work by Jerónimo Suñol.

Lucky Frog (Spanish: Rana de la fortuna) is a bronze sculpture by the Spanish artist dEmo, installed in Madrid, Spain, in 2014, outside the Casino Gran Madrid on the Paseo de Recoletos. The sculpture is 5 metres (16 ft) tall and weighs 2,000 kilograms (4,400 lb).The work was commissioned for the opening of the casino, and was a gesture of thanks to the city for restoring legal gambling after 90 years. It was unveiled on 3 April 2014 by journalist Carme Chaparro and actor Paco León.The frog is a sign of good fortune in Feng shui and its underbelly is engraved with symbols of good luck from world cultures. The 34 symbols include several numbers as well as pictures including a scarab artifact, a four-leaf clover, the peace sign and various currency symbols and religious signs. The patina, the protective coating on the metal, was applied by specialist Juan Manuel González. Its turquoise green is also considered lucky.The sculpture is located near to Fernando Botero's Woman with Mirror, another bronze sculpture gifted to the city, and faces the Monument to Columbus.

The Palacio del Duque de Uceda also known as Palacio de los Duques de Medinaceli was a palace located in Plaza de Colón in Madrid. This palace had two floors and superior body with slate roofing with elegant mansards, was built in 1864 by the Puerto Rican architect Mariano Andrés Avenoza, in a large site along the Plaza de Colón, between the Paseo de Recoletos and Calle de Génova. It was the palace first property of the Duke of Uceda, to be acquired in 1876 by the Marquis of Salamanca, without ever living in it, and later, around 1890 it was purchased by Doña Ángela Pérez de Barradas y Bernuy, widow Duchess of Medinaceli, plus Duchess of Denia y Tarifa. For this reason, the palace has been known throughout its history by the names of Úceda, of Denia, of Medinaceli, and of Marqués de Salamanca, the latter through which was known the building. The palace suffered a fire on November 25, 1917, unleashed at dawn and mainly affected the façade overlooking the Plaza de Colón. Countless works of art were lost that decorated its interior. It was rebuilt and remained in place until 1964, when its demolition was decided to work for speculative criteria in a plan to modernize the plaza. Currently in its place is an office, hotel and entertainment complex called Centro Colón.

The statue of Marcelino Menéndez y Pelayo is a monument in Madrid, Spain. A work by Lorenzo Coullaut Valera, it consists of a limestone statue of the aforementioned philologist and it is installed in the lobby of the National Library of Spain.

The Convento de los Agustinos Recoletos or Convento de Copacabana, in the city of Madrid, was a convent located in the land now occupied by the National Library, the Museo Arqueológico Nacional, and several city blocks. This convent named the known Paseo de Recoletos of Madrid, name that refers to the Augustinian Recollects (Agustinos Recoletos), former owners of the convent and of the adjacent properties. In this convent the painter Francisco de Zurbarán was buried.
