It is named after the nearby former locality of Manly, located northeast of the junction. An Alberta Heritage marker describes this Highway as leading to Dawson Creek, British Columbia, where the Alaska Highway begins, and signifies where the CANAMEX Corridor transitions from Highway 16 to Highway 43. Manly Corner is located about 35 kilometres (22 mi) west of Edmonton.

Manly is a former locality in Parkland County, Alberta. Manly was named for Manley, England. The first post office opened in Manly in 1908. Manly Corner, the beginning of Highway 43, which goes north to the Alaska Highway, is located in this district.

Carvel is a hamlet in Alberta, Canada within Parkland County. It is located on Highway 770, approximately 35 kilometres (22 mi) west of Edmonton. The hamlet's name is derived from the novel Richard Carvel by the American writer Winston Churchill.Carvel's largest building is the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and adjoining community hall. In August 2008, a memorial to the founding pioneer families of Carvel was placed at the entrance to the church's graveyard. Carvel is home to the CASCV Weather Radar Station, which functions as central Alberta's main weather radar station with an average range of about 240 km (150 mi).

Clearwater Estates is an unincorporated community in Alberta, Canada within Parkland County that is recognized as a designated place by Statistics Canada. It is located on the west side of Range Road 264, 0.2 km (0.12 mi) south of Highway 16.

Weslake Estates is an unincorporated community in Alberta, Canada within Parkland County that is recognized as a designated place by Statistics Canada. It is located on the west side of Range Road 13, 0.7 km (0.43 mi) south of Highway 16A. Prior to 2021, Statistics Canada referred to Weslake Estates as Westlake Estates.
