Old Bed Eyre River

Mandeville Sports Centre is a sports ground and community park in Mandeville North, Canterbury, New Zealand. The park is home to 13 clubs facilitating archery, equestrian events, netball, rugby, tennis, cricket, dog clubs, bowls and squash. The ground held a single List A match in the 1990/91 Shell Cup when Canterbury played Wellington, which resulted in a 19 run victory for Wellington. A number of other sports are played at the complex.

Mandeville North (commonly referred to as Mandeville) is a small village in the Waimakariri District of Canterbury, New Zealand. Due to new subdivisions being built in the area, the population has been slowly increasing, particularly after the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. The construction of the Mandeville village retail development began in late 2017 and was completed in early 2018. The village is named after William Montagu, 7th Duke of Manchester who owned land in the area.

Eyreton, originally known as Eyretown, is a small village in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island. It is named after Edward John Eyre, who at one time was the lieutenant governor of the South Island (then known as New Munster). It is a rural village located to the west of Kaiapoi, near the north bank of the Waimakariri River. Although a branch line railway called the Eyreton Branch existed, it never actually ran through Eyreton; its route from Kaiapoi to West Eyreton passed north of the village.

Ohoka is a small semi-rural township on the northern outskirts of Christchurch in New Zealand. The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "place of the stake for a decoy parrot" for Ōhoka.A new subdivision proposed in 2022 would add 800–850 houses, shops and a village square to Ohoka. Some residents are campaigning against the subdivision.

Waimakariri River Regional Park is a regional park in the Canterbury Region of New Zealand's South Island. It covers 15,000 hectares (37,000 acres) on the banks of the Waimakariri River, and is operated by Environment Canterbury.

The Eyre River is a river in the Canterbury region of New Zealand. It arises in the Puketeraki Range and flows south-east into the Waimakariri River near Christchurch International Airport. The connection with the Waimakariri is via a diversion channel running south-west, replacing the Eyre's original easterly flow. The river is named after Edward John Eyre, the Lieutenant-Governor of New Munster from 1848 to 1853.The river rarely carries surface water, due to the unreliability of the easterly rains which feed it.

Swannanoa is a small village in Canterbury, New Zealand. It is located 35 kilometres northwest of the largest city in the South Island, Christchurch. The area has an estimated population of 1,040 with 288 pupils enrolled in the primary school. The population is slowly increasing due to new subdivisions being developed there and in neighbouring Mandeville North.

Roto Kōhatu is a basin in Harewood, Christchurch with two artificial freshwater lakes: Lake Tahi and Lake Rua. Lake Tahi is privately owned by and only available to members of the Canterbury Jet Sports Club. Lake Rua, managed by the Christchurch City Council Park Rangers, is a public access lake for recreational activities such as swimming, sailing, and dragon boating. It is Christchurch's largest accessible lake. Multiple walking trails pass through the reserve, including the 2km Lake Circuit Walk and the 9km Otukaikino Track from the reserve to Darroch Street Reserve in Belfast. It is a popular swimming spot throughout the year for Christchurch residents and travellers.

The Clearwater Golf Club at Clearwater Resort in Christchurch is a par-72 championship course that was most recently the home to the ISPS Handa NZ Women's Open from 2013 to 2016. It was also the former home to both the BMW New Zealand Open and the New Zealand PGA Championship that was staged on the Nationwide Tour. Designed by John Darby in consultation with New Zealand golfing legend, Sir Bob Charles, the course combines elements of links golf inspired by the great Scottish courses with parkland golf, more reminiscent of Florida. Clearwater hosted the inaugural New Zealand Women's Open in 2009 that was won by Frenchwoman Gwladys Nocera, and at the time, the number-one player in Europe. She won by six shots from four players on eight under par. The ISPS Handa NZ Women's Open returned to Clearwater in 2013 and was won by Lydia Ko who was playing as an amateur. Lydia became not only the first New Zealand woman to win her national tournament but also the youngest player to ever win a Ladies European Tour event. In 2014 South Korean Mi Hyang Lee scored a course record final round of 63 (9 under par) to win the championship by 1 shot from Lydia Ko. The 2015 ISPS Handa NZ Women's Open featured Lydia Ko, then ranked as the World number 1 player, and Charley Hull who topped the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit in 2014. Record crowds witnessed Lydia Ko set a new course record in the second round, and a career low score for herself, of 61. Incredibly the three ball of Lydia Ko (61), Charley Hull (64) and Su-Hyun Oh (66) recorded a combined score of 25 under par. Lydia Ko won the tournament to claim the title for the first time as a professional. In 2016 Lydia Ko returned to claim her 3rd ISPS Handa New Zealand Women's Open title, and maintained her record of never having shot a round over par at Clearwater.

Harewood is a northwestern suburb of Christchurch, New Zealand. The suburb is split by State Highway 1, with the bulk of Harewood's residential areas to the east of the highway and its industrial areas to the west.

Willowbank Wildlife Reserve is a wildlife park and nature reserve in Christchurch, New Zealand.As well as having public displays of various animal species it also carries out conservation of native species including tuatara, kiwi, brown teal, and Duvaucel's gecko. Willowbank also holds the only pair of takahē on display in the South Island of New Zealand outside a Department of Conservation facility.

Christchurch Airport (IATA: CHC, ICAO: NZCH) is the main airport that serves Christchurch, New Zealand. It is located 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) to the northwest of the city centre, in the suburb of Harewood. Christchurch (Harewood) Airport officially opened on 18 May 1940 and became New Zealand's first international airport on 16 December 1950. It is the second busiest airport in New Zealand, after Auckland and before Wellington by annual passengers, and the second busiest, after Auckland, by aircraft movements.Christchurch and Auckland are the only airports in New Zealand that regularly handle Boeing 747 and Airbus A380 aircraft. The airport is curfew free, operating 24 hours a day. The prevailing wind in Christchurch is from the north-east and to a lesser extent from the south-west, but the city is also affected by Canterbury's nor'wester foehn wind. As a result, the airport has two perpendicular runways: a 3,288-metre (10,787 ft) primary runway (02/20) oriented with the north-easterly and south-westerly prevailing winds, and a 1,741-metre (5,712 ft) secondary runway (11/29) oriented for use during nor'westers. The airport also has a third grass runway, parallel to the primary runway, for use by general aviation. To serve an increasing number of passengers, the airport has completed construction of a major terminal upgrade. The new construction's primary wing opened in 2011 and the upgrade was completed in 2013.
