Hockenhull Hall

Tarvin was, from 1894 to 1974, a rural district in the administrative county of Cheshire, England. The district was named after the village of Tarvin, and saw considerable boundary changes throughout its life.

Tarvin is a village in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It had a population of 2,693 people at the 2001 UK census, rising to 2,728 at the 2011 census, and the ward covers about 17 square miles (44 km2).

The Hockenhull Platts are three bridges southwest of the village of Tarvin, Cheshire, England. They are also known as the "Packhorse Bridges" or (erroneously) the "Roman Bridges", and are recorded in the National Heritage List for England as designated Grade II listed buildings. The bridges are situated where Platts Lane crosses the River Gowy. An area of 5 hectares (12 acres) west of the Gowy, including the westernmost bridge, forms Hockenhull Platts Nature Reserve, managed by the Cheshire Wildlife Trust.

It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Chester and the deanery of Chester. Its benefice is united with that of St Peter, Duddon.

The civil parish was abolished in 2015 and merged into Tarvin.The parish contained one listed building, Hockenhull Hall, which is designed by English Heritage at Grade II*. This grade is the middle of the three gradings given to listed buildings and is applied to "particularly important buildings of more than special interest".

Bruen Stapleford is a former civil parish, now in the parish of Tarvin in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 66, rising to 186 at the 2011 Census. The civil parish was abolished in 2015 and merged into Tarvin.

Barrow Hall is in the village of Great Barrow, in the civil parish of Barrow, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.The building dates from the late 17th and the 18th centuries, with later additions. It is constructed in brick with a slate roof, and consists of a two and three-storey house with an attached cottage. There is a three-storey gabled porch to the rear. The front of the building is in seven bays. The windows are casements.

Foulk Stapleford is a former civil parish, now in the parish of Hargrave and Huxley, in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. The population of the civil parish as taken at the 2011 census was 161. The civil parish was abolished in 2015 to form Hargrave and Huxley.It contained the village of Hargrave. St Peter's Church, Hargrave is a Grade II* listed building.

Barrow is a civil parish, in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. The civil parish contains the village of Great Barrow and the hamlets of Little Barrow, Broomhill and Stamford Bridge. Great Barrow is situated about 4.5 miles (7 kilometres) east-north-east of Chester, 6 miles (10 kilometres) north-west of Tarporley and 6 miles (10 kilometres) south of Frodsham.At the time of the 2001 census the population was 943, reducing marginally to 941 by the 2011 census.The name Barrow derives from the Old English bearu (a grove, or small wooded area)Little Barrow formerly had a station on the Mid-Cheshire line, named Barrow for Tarvin, but it closed in 1953. The former Railway pub at Little Barrow is now the Foxcote tearoom, but Great Barrow retains its pub, the White Horse, which also provides accommodation. The Stamford Bridge Country Inn is near the A51 road, close to the River Gowy. Barrow Cricket Club has two Saturday teams and a junior section. The 1st XI play in the Cheshire County Cricket League Division Two, and the 2nd XI plays in the UK Fast League Division B West.
