The Parque del Oeste (in English: Western Park) is a park of the city of Madrid (Spain) situated between the Autovía A-6, the Ciudad Universitaria de Madrid and the district of Moncloa. Before the 20th century, the land that the park currently occupies was the main landfill of the city. The park is the initiative of Alberto Aguilera, the mayor of the city at the beginning of the 20th century, who in 1906 requested the layout of a place for walking and relaxation by landscape artist Celedonio Rodrígáñez. It has beautiful sites such as the rose garden, where a rose competition is held every year. One of the monuments in the park is the Temple of Debod, an Ancient Egyptian temple. The Egyptian state donated the temple of Debod to Spain in 1968 as a sign of gratitude for the help provided by Spain in saving the Abu Simbel temples. The Parque del Oeste is linked to the Casa de Campo by the Teleférico de Madrid, a gondola lift.

Príncipe Pío (formerly Estación del Norte) is a multimodal station in Madrid, Spain that services Madrid Metro's Line 6, Line 10, and Ramal; Cercanías Madrid's commuter rail lines C-1, C-7, and C-10; and city buses and intercity and long-distance coaches. It is located next to the River Manzanares between the San Vicente roundabout and the streets of Cuesta de San Vicente, Paseo de la Florida, and Paseo del Rey in the district of Moncloa-Aravaca. It is one of the busiest stations in the Madrid Metro and Cercanías systems. Príncipe Pío's train station has three levels. The highest level, which is used by Cercanías trains, is elevated and has an island platform. The middle level, which is used by Madrid Metro Lines 6 and 10, is partially underground and has a dual-island platform with four tracks arranged to facilitate cross-platform transfers. The lowest level, which is used by Madrid Metro Ramal trains, is underground and uses two side platforms. An underground bus terminal is located next to the train station. Additionally, the station houses a shopping center and a theater.

Simón Bolívar or the Monument to Simón Bolívar is an instance of public art located in Madrid, Spain. Dedicated to Simón Bolívar "el Libertador", key figure in the emancipation of several Latin American nations, it consists of a bronze equestrian statue put on a stone pedestal.

The Puerta de San Vicente is a monumental gate located in the Glorieta de San Vicente in Madrid (Spain). Since 1995, it has occupied the space where the original door, designed by architect Francesco Sabatini, was located between 1775 and 1892.

The Monument to Concepción Arenal is an instance of public art in Madrid, Spain. Located at the Parque del Oeste, it is dedicated to Concepción Arenal, 19th-century standout jurist and precursor of feminism.

The Siege of the Montaña barracks (Spanish: Sitio del Cuartel de la Montaña) was the two-day siege which marked the initial failure of the July 1936 uprising against the Second Spanish Republic in Madrid, on 18–20 July 1936, at the start of the Spanish Civil War. The bulk of the security forces in Madrid remained loyal to the government, and supported by workers' militias, crushed the uprising.

Argüelles is an administrative neighbourhood of Madrid, part of the Moncloa-Aravaca district. As of 1 July 2019, it had a population of 24,257 inhabitants. It is 0,755758 km2 in total area.

Campo del Moro is a park in Madrid, Spain. It was designed in the 19th century under the rule of Queen Maria Cristina, thus creating a garden with a clear English style and following the romanticism of nature. One of the difficulties presented by the enormous garden was the difference in height with the Royal Palace, which is why it was not designed before. However, today it is one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Spanish capital. It is named after a 12th century episode in which the Muslim general Ali Ben Yusuf wanted to reconquer Madrid with the death of King Alfonso VI by attacking the Fortress from the banks of the Manzanares River. The Muslim troops occupied this space to settle during the confrontation.

In the Cárcel Modelo massacre, at the outset of the Spanish Civil War, a group of anarchist militiamen occupied the Madrid prison on August 22, 1936, and killed about 30 politicians and soldiers held there. Following rumors that the prisoners—suspected political and military supporters of the 1936 military uprising—were escaping, an angry throng assembled at the prison's gates and demanded the execution of the "fascists". A group of anarchist militiamen took control of the prison and that night executed well-known politicians and soldiers. The reputation of the republican government faltered from its inability to quell the crowd and protect the prisoners. The incident sparked protests from the diplomatic corps in Madrid.

The Teleférico de Madrid, or Madrid Cable Car, is a gondola lift in the Spanish capital city of Madrid. It is 2,457 metres (8,061 ft) long and links the Parque del Oeste with the Casa de Campo. The line was built by Von Roll and opened in 1969. It uses 72 six-seater cabins, which take 11 minutes to travel the full length of the line.
