Presidential Palace Historical Site

The Presidential Palace of Vietnam (Vietnamese: Phủ Chủ tịch), located in the city of Hanoi, currently is the official residence of the president of Vietnam. Before 1954, it was named the Palace of the Governor-General of Indochina (French: Palais du Gouvernement général de l'Indochine, Vietnamese: Phủ Toàn quyền Đông Dương).

The One Pillar Pagoda (Vietnamese: Chùa Một Cột; chữ Nôm: 廚𠬠榾), formally belongs to an architecture complex called Diên Hựu tự (chữ Hán: 延祐寺) which means 'pagoda of extended blessings'. The pagoda is a historic Buddhist temple in the central Ba Đình district (near the Thăng Long Citadel), Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The most famous part of this architecture complex is Liên Hoa Đài (蓮花臺) means 'the lotus pedestal' which is a temple with special structure: a building laid on one pillar. The original pagoda was built in 1049, had some additions and was perfected in 1105. It is regarded alongside the Hương Temple, as one of Vietnam's two most iconic temples.

The President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (Vietnamese: Lăng Chủ tịch Hồ Chí Minh) is a mausoleum which serves as the resting place of Vietnamese revolutionary leader and President Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi, Vietnam. It is a large building located in the center of Ba Dinh Square, where Ho, Chairman of the Workers' Party of Vietnam from 1951 until his death in 1969, read the Declaration of Independence on 2 September 1945, establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. It is open to the public every morning except Monday.

The Ho Chi Minh Museum is located in Hanoi, Vietnam. Constructed in the 1990s, it is dedicated to the late Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam's revolutionary struggle against foreign powers. Ho Chi Minh museum is located in the Ho Chi Minh complex. The museum documents Ho Chi Minh's life, with 8 chronological exhibitions. The first one, from 1890 to 1910 modeled after his upbringing, hometown and youth. The second exhibit concerns the next ten years of his life, when Ho Chi Minh travelled the world seeking a means of freeing Vietnam from the restraints of colonialism. The next three exhibits, covering Ho Chi Minh's life from 1920 to 1945, depict how he adapted the influence of Marxism and Leninism into the founding principles of the Vietnamese Communist Party, as well as addressing his continued pursuit of achieving independence for Vietnam. Exhibits 6-7 cover Ho Chi Minh's life from 1945 until his death in 1969. The final grouping of exhibits primarily focus on his status as a national hero and the finer details of his political life. The museum consists of a collection of artifacts, miniatures, and various gifts gathered nationally and internationally. This museum also has more than 170,000 documents, objects, and films about President Ho Chi Minh and his revolutionary work. In addition to Vietnamese, the museum also provides descriptions written in English as well as French. Guided tours are also available upon request.

Ba Đình Square (Vietnamese: Quảng trường Ba Đình) is the name of a square in Hanoi where president Ho Chi Minh read the Proclamation of Independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945. It is named after the Ba Đình Uprising, an anti-French rebellion that occurred in Vietnam in 1886–1887 as part of the Cần Vương movement. When Ho Chi Minh died, the granite Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum was built here to display his embalmed body. It remains a major site of tourism and pilgrimage. Ba Dinh Square is in the center of Ba Đình District, with several important buildings located around it, including the President's Palace, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and the National Assembly Building.

Ba Đình is one of the four original urban districts (quận) of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. The district currently has 14 wards, covering a total area of 9.21 square kilometers. As of 2019, there were 221,893 people residing in the district, the population density is 24,000 inhabitants per square kilometer. Ba Đình district has a large number of monuments, landmarks and relics, including Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda, Flag Tower of Hanoi and Imperial Citadel of Thăng Long, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ba Đình is the political center of Vietnam. Most of the government offices and embassies are located here including the most important sites of the Vietnamese state such as the Ba Đình Square, the Presidential Palace, the National Assembly Building, the Government Office and the Communist Party of Vietnam central headquarter. It was formerly called the "French Quarter" (Khu phố Pháp) because of a high concentration of French-styled villas and government buildings built when Hanoi was the capital of French Indochina. This name is still used in travel literature. The southern half of Hoàn Kiếm district is also called the "French Quarter", also because of numerous French-styled buildings, most of which are now used as foreign embassies. The wreckage of a B-52 bomber shot down during the Vietnam War can be seen in Hữu Tiệp Lake in the Ngọc Hà neighborhood.

The Imperial Citadel of Thăng Long (Vietnamese: Hoàng thành Thăng Long; chữ Hán: 皇城昇龍) is a complex of historic buildings associated with the history of Vietnam located in the centre of Hanoi, Vietnam. Its construction began in 1010 and was completed in early 1011 under the reign of Emperor Lý Thái Tổ of the Lý dynasty.

The old National Assembly Building (Nhà Quốc hội), also Ba Đình Hall (Hội trường Ba Đình), was a public large building, located on Ba Đình Square across the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, in Hanoi, Vietnam. The building was used by the National Assembly of Vietnam for its sessions and other official functions. One of the architects was Nguyễn Cao Luyện (1907–1987, vi). The hall was demolished in 2008 to make room for a new parliament house. However archaeological remains of the old imperial city of Hanoi, Thăng Long, were found on the site and therefore the construction of a new building on the site was delayed. General Giáp, credited with defeating the United States in the Vietnam War, objected to the demolition of Ba Đình Hall.

The National Assembly Building of Vietnam (Vietnamese: Tòa nhà Quốc hội Việt Nam), officially the National Assembly House (Nhà Quốc hội) and also known as the New Ba Đình Hall (Hội trường Ba Đình mới), is a public building located on Ba Đình Square across from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi, Vietnam. Construction started on October 12, 2009, and finished on October 20, 2014. The building is used by the National Assembly of Vietnam for its sessions and other official functions. This building is the largest and most complex office building built in Vietnam after the reunification of the country. The Building covers an area of 63,000 m2, and is 39 m in height. The building can accommodate 80 separate meetings with more than 2,500 people at the same time. The old Ba Đình Hall was demolished in 2008 to make room for a new parliament house. However, archaeological remains of the old imperial city of Hanoi, Thăng Long, were found on the site and therefore the construction of a new building was delayed. The proposed project took 15 years (1999–2014) from the initial concept to the inauguration. The project attracted attention and debates in the country's mass media concerning the construction site and conservation of Ba Đình Hall. The project led to the largest archaeological excavations in Vietnam at the site of Imperial Citadel of Thăng Long. The German architecture design consultant company, gmp International GmbH, was awarded the Vietnam's National Architecture Award by the Vietnam Architect Society in 2014.

Chu Van An High School (Vietnamese: Trường Trung học phổ thông Quốc gia Chu Văn An), also known as Chu Van An National School or Pomelo School (trường Bưởi, before 1945) one of the three national high schools for the gifted in Vietnam along with Quoc Hoc High School in Huế and Le Hong Phong High School in Ho Chi Minh City. It is also one of the three magnet high schools in Hanoi, Vietnam, along with Hanoi-Amsterdam High School and Nguyen Hue High School. Established by the French authorities in 1908 as High School of the Protectorate (French: Lycée du Protectorat), Chu Van An is one of the oldest institutions for secondary education in South East Asia. Despite the initial intention to train native civil servants to serve the French colonial establishments, Vietnamese students at Bưởi school had many times struggled against colonial doctrine. A lot of Bưởi alumni became renowned political leaders and cultural figures in many areas of Vietnamese society such as Nguyễn Văn Cừ - the fourth general secretary of Communist Party of Vietnam, Phạm Văn Đồng - the first prime minister of North Vietnam and united Vietnam, Nguyễn Cao Kỳ- former vice president and prime minister of South Vietnam, Kaysone Phomvihane- former leader of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Prince Souphanouvong- the first president of Laos. In 1945, Lycée du Protectorat was renamed to Chu Van An High School.

The Trần dynasty, (Vietnamese: Nhà Trần, chữ Nôm: 茹陳), officially Great Việt (Vietnamese: Đại Việt; Chữ Hán: 大越), was a Vietnamese dynasty that ruled from 1225 to 1400. The dynasty was founded when emperor Trần Thái Tông ascended to the throne after his uncle Trần Thủ Độ orchestrated the overthrow of the Lý dynasty. The Trần dynasty defeated three Mongol invasions, most notably during the decisive Battle of Bạch Đằng River in 1288. The final emperor of the dynasty was Thiếu Đế, who was forced to abdicate the throne in 1400, at the age of five years old in favor of his maternal grandfather, Hồ Quý Ly. The Trần improved Chinese gunpowder, enabling them to expand southward to defeat and vassalize the Champa. They also started using paper money for the first time in Vietnam. The period was considered a golden age in Vietnamese language, arts, and culture. The first pieces of Chữ Nôm literature were written during this period, while the introduction of vernacular Vietnamese into the court was established, alongside Chinese. This laid the foundation for the further development and solidifying of the Vietnamese language and identity.

The embassy of Ukraine to Hanoi is the diplomatic mission of Ukraine to Vietnam, with concurrent accreditation to Cambodia. It is located at 6 Le Hong Phong, Hanoi. It began operations in 1993. The current ambassador is Gaman Oleksandr, who is also non-resident ambassador to Cambodia. The embassy has hosted events in support of Ukraine against the Russian invasion for Vietnamese people and diplomats from other countries.
