Gadsden State Community College

Dixie, also known as Dixieland or Dixie's Land, is a nickname for all or part of the Southern United States. While there is no official definition of this region (and the included areas have shifted over the years), or the extent of the area it covers, most definitions include the U.S. states below the Mason–Dixon line that seceded and comprised the Confederate States of America, almost always including the Deep South. The term became popularized throughout the United States by songs that nostalgically referred to the American South.

The Gadsden Mall is a regional 502,591-square-foot (46,692.2 m2) shopping mall on U.S. Route 411 (Rainbow Drive) in Gadsden, Alabama. Located at the interchange of Interstate 759 and U.S. Route 411, it is in the southern section of the city. It is anchored by Belk.

Mort Glosser Amphitheater (formerly known as the Legion Park Bowl and Gadsden Municipal Amphitheatre) is an amphitheatre in Gadsden, Alabama. Built in 1935, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Alabama Book Festival is an annual literary festival held since 2006 in Montgomery, Alabama, USA. In the past, it has been sponsored by the Alabama Center for the Book (formerly on the Auburn University campus, in the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities and now at the University of Alabama). Since 2010, it is underwritten by, among others, the Alabama Writers' Forum, the Alabama Humanities Foundation, the Alabama Library Association, Alabama Public Television, the Alabama State Council on the Arts, New South Books, and Regions Bank. The festival features writers, publishing companies, and local artists, including musicians and print makers.

The Gadsden Times-News Building is a historic building in Gadsden, Alabama. It was built by the owners of The Gadsden Times-News in 1904. After changing their name to The Gadsden Times in 1924, the paper moved its operation to another building in 1927. It has since housed a variety of commercial businesses. The two-story building is brick and rounded on the street corner. The 4th Street ground-level façade has cast iron pilasters and entablature, with large windows surrounded by smaller panes. The second floor has a series of arched one-over-one sash windows and a cornice with heavy modillions, which is raised on the curve. The building was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1982 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Gadsden Downtown Historic District is a historic district in Gadsden, Alabama. The district represents the growth of the town through its industrial heyday from the late 1870s to the late 1940s. The earliest buildings in the district include examples of highly decorated Italianate styles, including the 1904 Gadsden Times-News Building. Early 20th-century buildings began showing less applied decoration, instead drawing visual variety from the brickwork itself. Later buildings begin to incorporate modern materials in their construction, including concrete, decorative glass, and enameled panels. There are three significant churches in the district that represent revivalist architectural styles:the Gothic Revival First Methodist Church (built 1894), the Neoclassical First Baptist Church (built 1926), and the Romanesque St. James Catholic Church (built 1927). The Post Office and Courthouse, built in 1910, exhibits Italian Renaissance Revival style. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

Gadsden is a city in and the county seat of Etowah County in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is located on the Coosa River about 56 miles (90 km) northeast of Birmingham and 90 miles (140 km) southwest of Chattanooga, Tennessee. It is the primary city of the Gadsden Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of 103,931. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 33,945. In the 19th century, Gadsden was Alabama's second-most important center of commerce and industry, trailing only the seaport of Mobile. The two cities were important shipping centers: Gadsden for riverboats and Mobile for international trade. From the late 19th century through the 1980s, Gadsden was a center of heavy industry, including the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and Republic Steel. In 1991, following more than a decade of sharp decline in industry, Gadsden was awarded the honor of All-America City by the National Civic League.

The Gadsden Coca-Cola Bottling Plant is a historic building in Gadsden, Alabama, United States. It was built in 1929 by the Coca-Cola Company to replace a facility that had opened in 1915. In 1948–49, a two-story rear addition and one-story wing were built. The plant remained in use until 1987, when a new plant was built in the eastern part of town. The brick building is two stories, with a tile hipped roof and bracketed eaves. The original entrance features a stone surround with a keystone, but the door has since been replaced with a single-pane window. A similar entrance between the original block and the 1940s single-story addition which has scoring to imitate blocks and a Coca-Cola bottle carved into the lintel. The west elevation has a carved terra cotta sign with the Coca-Cola script logo. A separated auto garage and storage facility stands behind the main building, and is constructed of the same brick. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2023.

The U.S. Post Office, also known as the Federal Building and Courthouse, is a historic government building in Gadsden, Alabama.

The Turrentine Historic District is a historic district in Gadsden, Alabama. The district stretches along Turrentine Avenue and includes houses built during Gadsden's largest period of growth from 1891 through 1934. The street, originally the lane leading from town to the home of General Daniel Clower Turrentine, was home to some of the city's most influential residents, including mayors, bankers, doctors, educators, and industrialists. Architectural styles found in the district include Queen Anne, Neoclassical, Spanish Revival, Craftsman, and Tudor Revival. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Congregation Beth Israel (Hebrew: בית ישראל) was a Reform synagogue, located for most of its history at 761 Chestnut Street in Gadsden, Alabama. An outgrowth of Gadsden's Jewish religious school, it was founded in 1908 and incorporated in 1910. It moved into its Chestnut Street building in 1922, and joined the Union of American Hebrew Congregations in 1924.From 1911 to 1944 it had no rabbi, and was led by "lay-religious-leader" Hugo Hecht. In 1944, Beth Israel hired its first full-time rabbi, Ernest Appel.The synagogue was fire-bombed and its windows smashed in 1960, during a Friday night service. Two members who rushed outside were wounded with a shotgun by the attacker, a young Nazi sympathizer.Membership was never high; the congregation had 38 members families in 1918, and this grew to 60 families in 1960. Membership fell as major employers closed operations, and Jews emigrated from Gadsden. By 2008, family membership was down to 26. The synagogue closed in 2010.

Litchfield High School was a public high school in Gadsden, Alabama, serving grades nine through twelve. LHS was founded in 1958 as Litchfield Junior High School and was converted into a high school in 1975. The school bears the name of the former president of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and inventor of the first tubeless automobile tire, Paul Weeks Litchfield.It closed after the 2005–2006 academic school year after the Gadsden City Board of Education voted to construct a new facility - Gadsden City High School - and consolidate Litchfield, Emma Sansom, and Gadsden High Schools into one school.Cory Middle school was later moved into the Litchfield High School buildings and renamed Litchfield Middle School.
