The Voodoo Lounge is a Dublin city club and music venue, based on Arran Quay in the Smithfield region near Dublin City Center. A mainly rock-based venue, it also plays host to internationally touring metal, punk and dance acts. Like the nearby The Dice Bar, it was owned by Huey Morgan, singer for New York band The Fun Lovin' Criminals. This is said, by the band, to be a reason for the venue selling pizza slices—they enjoyed Dublin night-life, but disliked the relative scarcity of places selling good pizza slices and so opened both a pizzeria attached to the existing Temple Bar venue Eamonn Doran's and the Voodoo Lounge.The Voodoo Lounge hosted a mainly "alternative" crowd, and was popular with a variety of musical and youth subcultures. Its alternative atmosphere was advanced further by its hosting of Dublin city's only regular fetish and BDSM club. The effect of playing host to such a mix of different "alternative" groups, without being heavily dominated by any one of them, produced a hip reputation and an atmosphere that contrasted with many other Dublin clubs.The Voodoo Lounge premises was later used as a card club where primarily poker was played. It was known as Voodoo Card Club. The Voodoo Lounge reopened as a cafe, bar and music venue in April 2013. Voodoo Lounge is also a 1994 album by the Rolling Stones.

Oliver Bond flats, also known as Oliver Bond House, is a group of blocks of flats in the Liberties area of Dublin, Ireland. They were designed by Herbert George Simms and built in 1936. They are named after Oliver Bond, a member of the Society of United Irishmen.

James Joyce Bridge (Irish: Droichead James Joyce) is a road bridge spanning the River Liffey in Dublin, Ireland, joining the south quays to Blackhall Place on the north side. Designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, it is a single-span structural steel design, 40 m (131 ft) long. The deck is supported from two outward angled arches, the silhouette of which is sometimes compared to the shape of an open book.The bridge was built by Irishenco Construction, using pre-fabricated steel sections from Harland and Wolff of Belfast.The bridge is named for the famous Dublin author James Joyce, and was opened on 16 June 2003 (Bloomsday). Joyce's short story "The Dead" is set in Number 15 Usher's Island, the house facing the bridge on the south side.

The Light House Cinema is an art cinema with 614 seats across four screens in Dublin, Ireland, which also serves as one of the venues for the Dublin International Film Festival. From 1988–1996, the original Light House Cinema was located in an art-deco venue on Middle Abbey Street. A new government-funded cinema was built and opened in Smithfield, Dublin in 2008. It briefly closed in 2011 following the Dublin property crash, but the property was taken over National Asset Management Agency (NAMA). In 2012, the cinema was taken over by Element Pictures and reopened. It has since become successful and popular with locals, thanks to its more eclectic mix of films including art-house and Hollywood blockbusters, as well as regular classic screenings. The cinema also hosts quiz nights, book clubs, specially-hosted cult film screenings, and a cinema music festival called 'One Two One Two Music Festival'.Screen 1 holds an audience of 277; Screen 2 holds 153; Screen 3 holds 116; and Screen 4 holds 68.

The Courts Service is the national council of the judiciary of Ireland. It is a statutory corporation which provides administration and support services to the Courts of the Republic of Ireland. It was established in 1999 by the Courts Service Act 1998. Its head office is at Phoenix House, Smithfield, Dublin.

Smithfield (Irish: Margadh na Feirme) is a stop on the Luas light-rail tram system in Dublin, Ireland. It opened in 2004 as a stop on the Red Line. The Red Line runs east to west along Phoenix Street, and the Four Courts stop is located to on a section of road closed completely to other traffic, to the side of Smithfield plaza, a large open square previously used as a market. It also provides access to the Old Jameson Distillery and Light House Cinema. It has two edge platforms integrated into the pavement. The stop connects with a number of Dublin Bus routes.

David "Daithí" Douglas, an Irish zookeeper turned criminal, was shot dead on 1 July 2016. He had convictions dating from the 1980s as well as more recent ones and had survived a shooting the previous November. His murder is part of the Hutch–Kinahan feud. In August 2018 'Fat' Freddy Thompson was found guilty of the murder by the Special Criminal Court.

St. Paul's is a former church building of the Catholic Church sited on Arran Quay, Dublin, Ireland. The church is used currently by a Catholic youth group and by the St. Gregrorios Jacobite Syrian Christian Church.

Smithfield (Irish: Margadh na Feirme, meaning 'Farm Market') is an area on the Northside of Dublin. Its focal point is a public square, formerly an open market, now officially called Smithfield Plaza, but known locally as Smithfield Square or Smithfield Market. Notable landmarks include the Old Jameson Whiskey Distillery and the Observation Tower. Notable businesses include the children's animation studio Brown Bag Films. Historically, Smithfield was a suburb of Oxmantown and lay within the civil parish of St. Paul's. There is no general agreement on the extent of the area known as Smithfield, but it roughly incorporates the area bounded by the River Liffey to the south, Bow Street to the east, Queen Street to the west, and North Brunswick street in the suburb of Grangegorman to the north.

The Four Courts Marshalsea was a prison in Dublin, Ireland until 1874. The keeper of the prison was the Marshal of the Four Courts, a role filled after 1546 by the Constable of Dublin Castle.

The Law Society of Ireland (Irish: Dlí-Chumann na hÉireann) is a professional body established on 24 June 1830 and is the educational, representative and regulatory body of the solicitors' profession in Ireland. As of 2020, the Law Society had over eleven thousand solicitor members, a staff of 150 and an annual turnover of over €30m. It is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland's capital city. Under the Solicitors Acts 1954 to 2015, the Law Society exercises functions in relation to the education, admission, enrolment, discipline and regulation of the solicitors' profession. It is the professional body for its solicitor members, to whom it also provides services and support.
