Saulkalne Station is a railway station on the Riga – Daugavpils Railway.

The Riga Hydroelectric Power Plant Crossing Pylon is an overhead powerline crossing of the Daugava River, near Salaspils in the Latvia. The present crossing was built in 1974, and includes one 112-metre tall lattice tower. It is the tallest electricity pylon in the Latvia.

Ikšķile Municipality (Latvian: Ikšķiles novads) is a former municipality in Vidzeme, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2004 by reorganization of Ikšķile town with its countryside territory, the administrative centre being Ikšķile. In 2010 Tīnūži parish was created from the countryside territory of Ikšķile town. The population in 2020 was 9,888.On 1 July 2021, Ikšķile Municipality ceased to exist and its territory was merged into Ogre Municipality.

Ikšķile (; German: Uexküll, Üxküll; Livonian: Ikškilā) is a town in Latvia, in Ogre Municipality. It was the first capital of the Roman Catholic Bishopric of Livonia, known by the German name of Üxküll. Saint Meinhard was the first bishop of Üxküll. In 1197, Berthold of Hanover, a Cistercian abbot of Loccum, was made the second bishop of Üxküll. Those days the town was the center of the upcoming crusading activities in the Livonian area. Bishop Berthold moved the episcopal see to Riga, before being killed by the Livs in battle. According to one theory of the toponym's origin, the Livonian language word Ikšķile denoted "the ford or islet(s), i.e. a place (on the Daugava River) where it was possible to cross the river, belonging to the son of the (local ruler) Ike”. The personal name Ike has the honourable meaning ‘age, lifetime’. The Ike family had a great power in Livonia. They controlled the military and trade traffic across the Daugava at Ykescola/Ykescole.Other sources have suggested that the placename Ikšķile translates from the Finnic Livonian words ikš-ķile (ikš = 'one', ķile = village) meaning "one village" or "the (one) village".

Salaspils Municipality (Latvian: Salaspils novads) is a municipality in Vidzeme, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2004 by reorganization of Salaspils town and its rural territory, the administrative centre being Salaspils. In 2010 the rural territory was renamed Salaspils parish. The population in 2020 was 22,758.

The National Botanic Garden of Latvia (Latvian: Nacionālais botāniskais dārzs) is a botanical garden in Salaspils, Latvia. It is one of the largest botanical gardens in the Baltic states.

The Battle of Kircholm (Lithuanian: Salaspilio mūšis; Polish: Bitwa pod Kircholmem; Swedish: Slaget vid Kirkholm; 27 September [O.S. 17 September] 1605) was one of the major battles in the Polish–Swedish War (1600–1611). The battle was decided in 20 minutes by the devastating charge of Polish-Lithuanian cavalry, the Winged Hussars. The battle ended in the decisive victory of the Polish-Lithuanian forces, and is remembered as one of the greatest triumphs of Commonwealth cavalry.

The municipality was formed in 2006 by merging Inčukalns Parish and Vangaži town, the administrative centre being Inčukalns. The population in 2020 was 7,640.On 1 July 2021, Inčukalns Municipality ceased to exist. Inčukalns Parish was merged into Sigulda Municipality and Vangaži town was merged into Ropaži Municipality.

Salaspils (; German: Kircholm; Swedish: Kirkholm) (literally: "island castle") is a town in Latvia, the administrative centre of Salaspils Municipality. The town is situated on the northern bank of the Daugava river, 18 kilometers to the south-east of the city of Riga.
