Stopiņi Municipality

Ulbroka is a village in Stopiņi Parish, Ropaži Municipality in the Vidzeme region of Latvia. It is the administrative center of Stopiņi Parish and municipality. The village is crossed by two first category roads Rīga-Ērgļi (P4) and Rīga-Ogre (P5). In 2000 Ulbroka had 2,701 inhabitants, rising to 3,102 in 2021.

The Riga LVRTC Transmitter was a mediumwave transmitter in Ulbroka near Riga, Latvia, which broadcast on 945 kHz a music program in DRM-simulcast mode, which was receivable at night time in wide parts of Europe. It used as an antenna two guyed mast radiators. One of them was a 125 m-tall (410 ft) guyed lattice mast. The other smaller tower stays a Blaw-Knox Radiator. It is one of the few existing Blaw-Knox Radiators in Europe. Other towers of this type exist at Lisnagarvey, Northern Ireland, Lakihegy, Hungary, Vakarel, Bulgaria and Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. Several masts were razed on 16 May 2010.

Rumbula is a neighbourhood of Riga located in the Latgale Suburb, on the right bank of the Daugava river. With a population of about 368 inhabitants in 2010, Rumbula's territory covers 6.978 km2 (2.694 sq mi).Rumbula is also the home of Rumbula Air Base, a defunct airport formerly used by Soviet and Latvian armies. Rumbula is home to Kurbads Ice Hall, which serves as the home arena of the ice hockey team HK Kurbads. Rumbula is served by the Rumbula Station on the Riga–Daugavpils Railway.

Dreiliņi is a village in Stopiņi Parish, Ropaži Municipality in the Vidzeme region and the Riga Planning Region of Latvia. From 2009 until 2021, it was part of the former Stopiņi Municipality. Artist Burkards Dzenis was born in Dreiliņi. According to the September 2023 decision of the Ropaži County regarding the expansion of the territory of the large village of Ulbroka, Dreiliņi is located south of the P4 highway. The territory also includes the village of new private houses Saulīši.

Jugla Lake (Latvian: Juglas ezers) is a large and scenic urban lake in Jugla, Riga, Latvia. The lake has popular beaches in the summer and ice fishing in the winter.The Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia is an open-air museum, situated in a forest park area beside Jugla Lake.

The Riga offensive (Russian: Рижская наступательная операция, lit. 'Riga offensive operation') was part of the larger Baltic offensive on the Eastern Front during World War II. It took place late in 1944, and drove German forces from the city of Riga.

Mazā Jugla (previously German: Kleine Jägel) is a river in Latvia. It flows for 119 kilometres through the municipalities of Ogre, Salaspils, Ikšķile and Stopiņi. The source of the river is located in Taurupe parish, Ogre Municipality 130 m above sea level, whereas the mouth is 0.1 m asl. Mazā Jugla joins with Lielā Jugla thus forming the river Jugla shortly before its mouth into Jugla Lake at the Riga city eastern border with the municipalities of Garkalne and Stopiņi. The river is curvy with many rapids and weirs, with dolomite and sandstone outcrops on its banks, and is a popular water tourism site. The Dobelnieki hydroelectric plant is located on the river. The Battle of Jugla of World War I between the German and Russian armies took place on the banks of the river in 1917.
