Bearna/Na Forbacha GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the Barna and Furbo areas of County Galway, Ireland. The club is exclusively concerned with hurling.

CLG Bhearna is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Bearna, County Galway, Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. The club was merged with Spiddal at U16, U18 and U21 during the 1990s before reverting to its old form again in 2001. CLG Bhearna were promoted to Senior Level for the first time in 1972 and have competed in the Galway Senior Club Football Championship over the years. They are one of 20 clubs who challenge for county title today. They have failed to win the competition in their history but have achieved a wide range of success at B level in the West Board section and at under-age level in recent years.

Barna (Bearna in Irish) is a coastal village on the R336 regional road in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland. It has become a satellite village of Galway city. The village is Irish speaking and is therefore a constituent part of the regions of Ireland that make up the Gaeltacht. In 1976, a community development group called Comharchumann Bearna Teo was formed after five local men put up the purchase money for 2 acres (8,100 m2) at Troscaigh Thiar to be used for community purposes and has succeeded in developing several recreational facilities.

Galway Bay (Irish: Loch Lurgain or Cuan na Gaillimhe) is a bay on the west coast of Ireland, between County Galway in the province of Connacht to the north and the Burren in County Clare in the province of Munster to the south; Galway city is on the northeast side. The bay is about 50 kilometres (30 mi) long and from 10 kilometres (6 mi) to 30 kilometres (20 mi) in breadth. The Aran Islands (Oileáin Árann) are to the west across the entrance and there are numerous small islands within the bay. To the west of Galway, the rocks are granite but to the south they are limestone. The approaches to the bay between the Aran Islands and the mainland are as follows: the North Sound (An Súnda ó Thuaidh) lies between Inishmore and Leitir Mealláin in Connemara; known as Bealach Locha Lurgan in Irish. Gregory's Sound (Súnda Ghríoghóra) lies between Inishmore and Inishmaan; known as Bealach na h-Áite in Irish. Foul Sound (An Súnda Salach) lies between Inishmaan and Inisheer; known as Bealach na Fearbhaighe in Irish. South Sound (An Súnda ó Theas), known as Bealach na Finnise in Irish, lies between Inisheer and County Clare. Galway Bay is famous for its unique traditional sailing craft, the Galway hooker.

Lios an Gharráin (anglicised Lissagurraun) is a townland of Moycullen near Barna in County Galway, Ireland. There are only 10 houses, and no shops or schools. There is one horse riding school, the Moycullen Riding Centre. There are roughly 24 inhabitants. It is close to the Moycullen Bogs.

Killagoola (Cill Ogúla) is a small townland lying in the civil parish of Moycullen in County Galway, Ireland. It is located about 8 miles from Galway city, just off the N59 road which travels north from Galway towards Clifden. Its name is derived from the Irish name of Cill Ogúla, which means Church on the Shoulder (of a hill). Indeed there is the ruins of a small church within the boundaries of Killagoola, on the largest site in the area, Crú Hill. Until the first half of the 20th century, Gaelic was the language used in the area, but this was lost in the latter half, with a change to English. Killagoola has locally derived place-names such as Mountview, Sruthan, Sceith and Baile Thiar to distinguish areas of the townland. Lough Kip river runs from the lake, Lough Kip, through the townland towards Ballyquirke Lake, a feeder for the much bigger lake, the Corrib. Most of the land in the area is used as farmland, reclaimed from boggy or mountainous areas. Some of the families living in the area have lived there for generations and their names can be viewed on land deeds from the 19th century. After a drop in the townland population from the 1960s to the 1980s, an influx of people in the 1990s, due to its proximity to Galway city, has bolstered the small population.

Barna Woods (Irish: Coill Bhearna) is an area of mixed broadleaf woodland located in Barna, County Galway, Ireland. The woods are approximately 3 miles from Galway city centre near Galway Bay. The Woods are accessible from Cappagh park which is located in Knocknacara or from Barna Road (Coastal Road - R336) where there is a small carpark. Other sections of the Woods include an area across the road known as the South Wood which leads to marshlands ending in the Silver Strand (Irish: Trá na gCeann) on Galway Bay.

Drom Soccer Park is an association football venue in the Republic of Ireland based in Drom East, Rahoon, County Galway. It is the home ground of Salthill Devon F.C. It was built in 2002 and has a capacity of 2,000. Drom also hosts the Galway Cup annually.

Rusheen Bay (Irish: Cuan an Roisín) is a bay in County Galway on the west coast of Ireland. Rusheen Bay is near Galway city and is known for windsurfing. This bay is used for both flat water ballasting and freestyle. The Rusheen Bay Windsurfing School is open from April through to September and provides lessons and rentals for windsurfing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding.Eight children were rescued from drowning in the bay by surfers in July 2015, in an incident that saw a number of bravery awards and one of the rescuers, Alan Herdman, was named Young Person of The Year for his actions.

Ballycuirke Lough (Irish: Loch Bhaile Uí Chuirc), also known as Ballyquirke Lough, is a freshwater lake in the west of Ireland. It is part of the Lough Corrib catchment in County Galway.

Moycullen (Irish: Maigh Cuilinn) is a Gaeltacht village in County Galway, Ireland, about 10 km (7 mi) northwest of Galway city. It is near Lough Corrib, on the N59 road to Oughterard and Clifden, in Connemara. Moycullen is now a satellite town of Galway with some residents commuting to the city for work, school, and business. Population increased 33.7% from the 2016 census, reaching 2,279 in 2022.Although Moycullen and its hinterland are classified as a ‘Gaeltacht’ area, the language has not been the local vernacular for many years. Moycullen falls under a Category C Gaeltacht Area due to its low percentage of daily Irish speakers.
