Sumner Avenue station (BMT Myrtle Avenue Line)

The 1973 New York City hostage incident was a 47 hour incident at John and Al's Sporting Goods after a botched robbery and murder of a New York City Police Department officer, lasting from January 19 to January 21, 1973. Eleven people were held hostage by four men in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

Park Avenue was a station on the BMT Jamaica Line located at the intersection of Park Avenue and Broadway in Brooklyn, New York City. This station opened on June 25, 1888. It closed on June 5, 1916 due to its proximity to stations at Flushing Avenue and Myrtle Avenue, and to allow for the Dual Contracts rebuilding of the Jamaica Line. As part of the rebuilding, the line was given a third track, the remaining stations were given side platforms, a connection to the Myrtle Avenue Elevated was installed and the elevated was strengthened to allow subway cars to use the line.This elevated station had two tracks and an island platform.

The Flushing Avenue station is a local station on the BMT Jamaica Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of Flushing Avenue and Broadway in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, it is served by the J train at all times except weekdays in the peak direction and the M train at all times except late nights. The Z train skips this station when it operates.

The William Ulmer Brewery is a brewery complex in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York City. It consists of four buildings—an office, a brew house, an engine–machine house, and a stable–storage house—all constructed between 1872 and 1890 in the German round-arch style. The site is bounded by Belvidere Street to the southeast, Beaver Street to the northeast, and Locust Street to the northwest, with the address 31 Belvidere Street. The main brew house, the engine–machine house, and the office building were designed by Brooklyn architect Theobald Engelhardt, while the stable–storage house was designed by Frederick Wunder. The Ulmer Brewery was one of over a dozen German-operated breweries that were built in Bushwick during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It ceased to be an active brewery in 1920 due to Prohibition in the United States, which outlawed alcoholic beverage production. The Ulmer family continued to own the office building until 1952; the other buildings were sold and used for light manufacturing, and the office building became a private residence. On May 11, 2010, the brewery was designated a New York City Landmark, becoming the first brewery in the city to receive this status.

The Myrtle Avenue station (announced on New Technology Trains as Myrtle Avenue–Broadway station) is a New York City Subway express station on the BMT Jamaica Line. Located at the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Broadway in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, it is served by the J and M trains at all times, and by the Z during rush hours in peak direction. The station has two platform levels, but all regular passenger service is on the lower platform level of the station. The station has an abandoned upper platform level which previously served the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line to Downtown Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan via the Brooklyn Bridge. Just east of the station, the remaining section of the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line diverges from the BMT Jamaica Line via slip switches in an at-grade junction.

US Post Office-Metropolitan Station, originally known as Station "A," is a historic post office building located at Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York, United States. It was built in 1936, and is one of a number of post offices in New York designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect under Louis A. Simon. The building is a two-story, flat roofed brick building with a three bay wide central pavilion flanked by three bay wide wings in the Colonial Revival style. A contributing architect is believed to be Lorimer Rich. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Tompkins Avenue was a station on the demolished section of the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line. The station was located at the intersection of Myrtle and Tompkins Avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. The station opened in 1889, and closed in 1969.

On December 20, 2014, Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley shot and killed Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu — two on-duty New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers — in the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. Brinsley then fled into the New York City Subway, where he committed suicide. Earlier in the day, before he killed Ramos and Liu, Brinsley had shot and wounded his ex-girlfriend Shaneka Thompson in Baltimore after initially pointing the gun at his own head.

Sumner Avenue was a station on the demolished BMT Lexington Avenue Line in Brooklyn, New York City. It had 2 tracks and 2 side platforms. It was opened on May 13, 1885 and was located at the intersection of Lexington Avenue and Sumner Avenue. It also had connections to the Sumner Avenue Line streetcars. The station closed on October 13, 1950. The next southbound stop was Tompkins Avenue. The next northbound stop was Reid Avenue.

Moore Street Market, often referred to as La Marqueta de Williamsburg, is one of four surviving public markets built by mayor Fiorello La Guardia in New York City in 1941 to get pushcarts off crowded and unclean streets. It is located at 110 Moore Street in the Williamsburg neighborhood of northern Brooklyn. In early 2007, Moore Street Market was under the impending threat of closure by its owner and manager, the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYC EDC). Community leaders and the long-time merchants succeeded in keeping the market open; beginning in December 2008, the market was managed by the Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation, until the New York City Economic Development Corporation was reassigned site management of the market in December 2014. A $2.7 million renovation was announced in 2019.Merchants operating at the market are mainly from Spanish-speaking Caribbean countries or Latin America, and primarily sell products such as fruit, vegetables, crafts, herbs, candles and ethnic food from their respective countries. The market also serves as an economic and cultural anchor for Williamsburg and its community, regularly holding events for the public.
