Palacio de las Cortes is a building in Madrid where the Spanish Congress of Deputies meets. It is located on the Calle Zorrilla and the Carrera de San Jerónimo, near the Paseo del Prado. It was built by Narciso Pascual Colomer from 1843 to 1850. in the neoclassic style and is one of the most emblematic buildings of Madrid from the 19th century. The building came to international attention during the attempted coup d'état known in Spain as the '23-F', in 1981. Antonio Tejero, a lieutenant colonel in the Guardia Civil who was an unrepentant Falangist, stormed the Congress of Deputies chamber along with dozens of armed officers, disrupting proceedings to elect Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo as the new Spanish prime minister. The insurgents opened fire within the chamber though no one was harmed. The deputies were held hostage for 18 hours before the coup unravelled. The bullet holes are still visible in the plenary and are shown to visitors on guided tours.

The Convento de la Natividad y San José (English for: Convent of the Nativity and Saint Joseph) (formerly popularly called convento de las Baronesas) was a convent of Carmelite nuns located in Calle de Alcalá (Madrid). Was designed and started to build the building by foreman Juan de Lobera in mid-17th century, being finished in 1700 by his son-in-law Juan de Pineda. The convent due to the Confiscation of Mendizábal was demolished in 1836 and its site put on sale.

The Círculo de Bellas Artes is a private, non-profit, cultural organization that was founded in 1880. Its building, located in Madrid, Spain, was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1981. Ever since it was set up in 1880, it has played a major role of international scope in the field of cultural creation and diffusion. The CBA is a major multidisciplinary centre with one of the most active cultural programmes in Madrid. It has exhibition rooms, a cinema, a theatre, concert halls, lecture halls, artists’ workshops, a library, a cafeteria, a shop and many other facilities. Every day it puts on activities to do with the visual arts, music, film, the stage, literature, science, philosophy and poetry. The building which houses the Círculo de Bellas Artes was designed by the architect Antonio Palacios and constructed in 1926. It is an emblematic building, and from its rooftop one can experience panoramic views of Spain’s capital city.

The Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation (Spanish: Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación) is a legal institution based in Madrid. It has a unique position as an independent and privately funded institution led by eminent international jurists mainly in the Hispanic area; its purpose is to promote the knowledge, investigation and debate in the legal area. It is placed in a building declared Cultural Interest Good in 1998.

The Spanish Medical Colleges Organization (Organización Médical Colegial or OMC) is a Spanish organization whose purpose is to regulate the Spanish medical profession. The organization comprises the General Council of Official Medical Colleges (Consejo General de Colegios Oficiales de Médicos or CGCOM) and the Spanish regional medical colleges. Its role is to represent all the registered doctors, ensuring proper standards and promoting an ethical medical practice.

The Coup d'état of Pavía (Spanish: Golpe de Estado de Pavía), or more simply Pavía's Coup, was a military coup d'état initiated by General Manuel Pavía y Rodríguez de Alburquerque on January 3, 1874 during the First Spanish Republic that transitioned the young republic from a democratic government to an authoritarian regime.

The Congress of Deputies (Spanish: Congreso de los Diputados) is the lower house of the Cortes Generales, Spain's legislative branch. The Congress meets in the Palace of the Parliament (Palacio de las Cortes) in Madrid. It has 350 members elected by constituencies (matching fifty Spanish provinces and two autonomous cities) by closed list proportional representation using the D'Hondt method. Deputies serve four-year terms. The presiding officer is the President of the Congress of Deputies, who is elected by the members thereof. It is the analogue to a speaker. In the Congress, MPs from the political parties, or groups of parties, form parliamentary groups. Groups must be formed by at least 15 deputies, but a group can also be formed with only five deputies if the parties got at least 5% of the nationwide vote, or 15% of the votes in the constituencies in which they ran. The deputies belonging to parties who cannot create their own parliamentary group form the Mixed Group.After the 2019 general election in April, the number of female deputies was up to 168 representing 48% of all members, making Spain the European country with the highest percentage of women in parliament; surpassing Sweden and Finland.

Miguel de Cervantes or the Statue of Cervantes (Spanish: Estatua de Cervantes) is an instance of public art in Madrid, Spain. Erected in 1835, it is dedicated to Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. It lies on the Plaza de las Cortes, in front of the Congress of Deputies.

The Monument to Columbus (Spanish: Monumento a Colón) is an instance of public art in Valladolid, Spain. Located on the centre of the namesake Plaza de Colón, in the southeastern corner of the Campo Grande, the monument is dedicated to Christopher Columbus.

The Palacio del Marqués de Casa Riera was the name for two successive buildings located in the same place, in the Spanish city of Madrid, in the number 64 of the Calle de Alcalá, it was in the widest part of the street.

The Church of San José (Spanish: Iglesia de San José) is a church located on the Calle de Alcalá in Madrid, Spain. It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1995.
