Prince Frederick is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Calvert County, Maryland, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of Prince Frederick was 3,226, up from 2,538 in 2010. It is the county seat of Calvert County.

The Calvert Peninsula is part of the Western Shore region of the U.S. state of Maryland. It extends about 25 miles (40 km) into Chesapeake Bay with the main bay providing its eastern border and the Patuxent River defining its western border. It constitutes a total land area of about 350 square miles (910 km2) and is essentially conterminous with Calvert County. Immediately south of the Calvert Peninsula is the larger St. Mary's Peninsula, defined by the Patuxent and Potomac Rivers. It is the site of Calvert Cliffs State Park and the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant.

Calvert High School is a public high school in Prince Frederick, Maryland, United States and is part of the Calvert County Public Schools. The campus is on Dares Beach Road and includes the main school building, a gym for basketball games, a football stadium, a baseball field, tennis courts, a soccer field, a lacrosse and field hockey field, and a large auditorium used for school concerts and plays. Additionally, it also includes the Arthur Storer Planetarium, named for the Calvert County resident and the original namesake of Halley's Comet. A vocational education center is adjacent to the main school building. Before moving to its current campus in 1963, Calvert High School used to be along Maryland Route 2/Maryland Route 4. The building once served as a building for Calvert Middle School, a public middle school that serves as a feeder school of Calvert High. Calvert Middle School recently moved from that building and built a new school in Prince Frederick. In 1965, desegregation of the Calvert County Public Schools led to Brooks High School — the county's then all-black high school — being merged with Calvert High. Calvert High's school mascot is the Cavalier. The sports teams compete in the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference. Calvert High's athletic rivals include the neighboring schools of Northern High School, Huntingtown High School, and Patuxent High School. In 2000, the Cavaliers captured the Maryland State Division 3A American football championship under the leadership of head coach Jerry Franks. In 2015, the Calvert High School Varsity Girls Soccer Team also added to Calvert's achievements by winning the Maryland 2A State Championship under the leadership of Dawn Lister and Damon Williams. Calvert High and Patuxent High are the only 2A schools in the county. Along with many achievements in sports Calvert high school has had significant success in academic achievements. Such related activities include the success of the Vex robotics team. In 2014 one of its teams, 1670d, attended the world competition in Anaheim, California. As of 2015, the total attendees of Calvert is 1,166 students total that make up grades nine through twelve. The attendance rate among these students is 93.8%. Out of these 1,166 student in 2015, 591 are female and 575 are male. 7% of students are receiving special services for Special Education.

Barstow is a small, rural unincorporated community located at the crossroads of MD 231, German Chapel Road, and Barstow Road in Calvert County, Maryland, United States, immediately west of Prince Frederick. The community maintains its own zip code of 20610. There are no residential structures and no one resides in Barstow. The only building in Barstow is the post office. The new Calvert County Fairgrounds are located near Barstow, moving from their original location in central Prince Frederick in the late 1990s. A branch of College of Southern Maryland is very close by. Cedar Hill and Willow Glenn were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Cedar Hill is a historic home located on 75 acres (300,000 m2) at Barstow, Calvert County, Maryland, United States. It is one of the few remaining cruciform dwelling houses existing in Maryland, built in the 18th century that is typical of 17th-century architecture. It is a 1+1⁄2-story house with a 2-story porch tower, built of brick laid in Flemish bond. It is now operated as a bed and breakfast, meeting hall, and retreat center. Cedar Hill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Willow Glenn is a historic home located at Barstow, Calvert County, Maryland, United States. It is an impressive, Georgian structure of grand proportions; constructed entirely of brick in Flemish bond with random glazed headers. The home typifies the kind of dwelling erected by Maryland's wealthiest tobacco planters of the colonial period.Willow Glenn was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Parkers Creek is a small tributary of the Chesapeake Bay located in central Calvert County, Maryland, United States. The creek entrance is just north of the bayside community of Scientists Cliffs. Most of the land surrounding the creek has been protected from development by numerous land trust purchases and conservation easements. Much of the creek is navigable by canoe. The creek's headwaters are south of the town of Prince Frederick.

The county has one of the highest median household incomes in the United States. It is one of the older counties in Maryland, after St. Mary's, Kent County and Anne Arundel counties.

Cornehill is a historic home located at Parran, Calvert County, Maryland, United States. It is a five-bay-long two-story Georgian brick house laid in Flemish bond with a steeply pitched gable roof with an exterior chimney at each gable end. One brick on the southwest corner contains the date 1786 and the initials "T.F." The initials purportedly refer to Thelbert Freeland, a member of an influential family in northeastern Calvert County. Outbuildings include slave quarters to the south of the house, and a tobacco barn with oak framing. During the majority of the 18th century, the Mackall family, large Calvert County landowners, held Cornehill, or "Cornhill."Cornehill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

La Veille, or La Veille Place, is a historic home located at Mutual, Calvert County, Maryland, United States. It is a 1+1⁄2-story gambrel-roofed brick house, of Flemish bond construction. A number of early-19th-century outbuildings include: a log corn crib, three barns (one of which still houses its 19th-century tobacco prise equipment), several small sheds, and a frame house that was created by the joining of two 18th-century log slave quarters. Between the "Quarters" and the main house is the La Veille family cemetery, enclosed within an elaborate late-19th-century wrought iron fence.La Veille was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
