It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) north-west of Wąchock, 8 km (5 mi) north-west of Starachowice, and 35 km (22 mi) north-east of the regional capital Kielce.The village has a population of 674. Marcinków was the location of several Paleolithic industrial sites, which are now archaeological sites, part of the Rydno Archaeological Reserve, consisting of several hundred former Paleolithic sites stretching from Skarżysko-Kamienna to Wąchock. The sites were discovered in 1921.

It came into being on January 1, 1999, as a result of the Polish local government reforms passed in 1998. As of 2019 its total population is 74,343, out of which the population of Skarżysko-Kamienna is 45,068, that of Suchedniów is 8,347, and the rural population is 20,928.

It should not be confused with the nearby town of Skarżysko-Kamienna. It lies approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) north of Skarżysko-Kamienna and 36 km (22 mi) north-east of the regional capital Kielce. One of the village's attractions is the Holy Trinity Church, erected between 1637 and 1643 (pictured).

The name literally translates as: "Mushroom Mountain". The village has a population of 1,052.

Wąchock Abbey (Polish: Opactwo Cystersów w Wąchocku) is a Cistercian abbey in Wąchock, Poland. Located near the larger town of Starachowice in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains of south-eastern Poland, Wąchock is best known for the architecture of this Roman Catholic site. The abbey was founded by Cistercian monks, who came to the region in the late 12th century. The Cistercians had a reputation for administering the building sites for abbeys and cathedrals, and "made it a point of honour to recruit the best stonecutters." Today, the interiors of the abbey remain well-preserved, and the buildings themselves "are recognized as the most precious monuments of Romanesque architecture in Poland."
