Samuel Foster House

The Richard Nichols House is a historic late First Period house at 483 Franklin Street in Reading, Massachusetts, United States. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, six bays wide, with a side gable roof, clapboard siding, rubblestone foundation, and an entry in the third bay from the left, with a chimney behind. The oldest portion of this house, probably a three bay section with chimney, was built c. 1733, and expanded to five, and then six, bays later in the 18th century. The house, along with extensive landholdings, remained in the locally prominent Nichols family until the late 19th century.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Joseph Parker House is a historic house at 107 Grove Street in Reading, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was probably built around 1795, when it first appeared on local maps. It is predominantly Federal in its styling, with smaller second-story windows and boxed cornices. Its center entry surround is a Greek Revival feature, with an architrave surround with corner blocks and half-length sidelight windows. The house's notable occupants include Loea Parker, who died in the War of 1812, and F. Howard Gilson, an early experimenter in photography. From 1910 to 1932 it was owned by the Fathers' and Mothers' Club, which used it as a country retreat for urban youth.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Hartwell House is a historic house in Reading, Massachusetts. The 1+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built in 1918 for George Hartwell, an engineer. The most prominent feature of this Craftsman/Bungalow style house is its stonework: the front porch is supported by tapering piers of fieldstone, and the full length of its chimney is similarly composed. There is a decorative woodwork trellis at the peak of the front gable.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Austin Preparatory School is a co-educational Catholic school located in Reading, Massachusetts. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston. It was founded by the Order of Saint Augustine in 1961. The institution is colloquially referred to as Austin Prep and serves students in grades 6–12. Turnbull Sexual Abuse Settlements The Augustinian Order has reached financial settlements with more than twenty sexual abuse victims of Robert Turnbull, OSA, an Augustinian priest who taught Math at Austin Prep from 1965–1981. At least eight of the victims were Austin Prep students at the time of the assaults. Robert Turnbull died in 2000.On January 20, 2022, the school announced that it would leave the Catholic Central League and Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association to join the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council starting in the fall of 2022. The school will begin NEPSAC competition as an independent.

In the 1850s "Uncle Mark" Temple, remodeled the Georgian style house into the Greek Revival style then still popular in Reading. Among his changes was to turn the original building 90 degrees and raise its foundation. Oscar Foote, a locally prominent real estate developer and businessman, bought the house in 1863.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Asa M. Cook House is a historic house in Reading, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame Second Empire house was built in 1872 for Asa M. Cook, an American Civil War veteran who commuted by train to a job at the United States custom house in Boston. The house is one of the most elaborately detailed of the style in Reading, with pedimented windows, rope-edge corner boards, and dormers with cut-out decoration in the mansard roof.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Wisteria Lodge is a historic house in Reading, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story Second Empire wood-frame house was built in 1850 by Oscar Foote, a local real estate developer entrepreneur who attempted to market bottled mineral water from nearby springs. The house has a mansard roof with fish scale slate shingles, bracketed eaves, an elaborate porte cochere, and styled window surrounds with triangular pediments. The porches and porte cochere are supported by square columns set on paneled piers, with arched molding between.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Durgin House is a historic house in Reading, Massachusetts. Built in 1872 by Boston businessman William Durgin, this 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house is one of the finest Italianate houses in the town. It follows a cross-gable plan, with a pair of small side porches and bay windows on the main gable ends. The porches are supported by chamfered posts on pedestals, and feature roof lines with a denticulated cornice and brackets. The main roof line also features paired decorative brackets. There are round-headed windows in the gable ends.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Roberts House is a historic house at 59 Prospect Street in Reading, Massachusetts. The two-story house is basically Colonial Revival in character, but also exhibits Craftsman style features, including extended eaves with exposed rafter ends, stucco walls, and a chunky entrance portico. The window above the entrance is a Shingle style band of three casement windows, and there is a hip-roof dormer in the roof above. The house is one of Reading's better examples of Craftsman architecture, and was built in 1911, during a building boom on the town's west side.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
