St. Nicholas Hotel (Omaha, Nebraska)

The BLUEBARN Theatre, located at 1106 S. 10th Street in Omaha, Nebraska, is a nationally recognized theater. Begun in 1989, the theater was founded by a group of 1988 graduates from the theater program at Purchase College: Kevin Lawler, Hughston Walkinshaw, Nils Haaland and Mary Theresa Green.

The Bemis Bag Company Building is a historic building located in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. Built in 1887 in a commercial style, the building was designed by the prolific Omaha architecture firm of Mendelssohn and Lawrie. It was designated an Omaha Landmark on September 12, 1978, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 11, 1985. In addition to its own listing on the NRHP, the Building is also included in the Warehouses in Omaha Multiple Property Submission. The Bemis Company was a national leader in the manufacturing and sale of bags and sacks for flour, grain, and other commodities. It had warehouses and manufacturing facilities in several cities across the United States. This building cost about $40,000 to build.

The Old Market is a neighborhood located in downtown Omaha, Nebraska, United States, and is bordered by South 10th Street to the east, 13th Street to the west, Farnam Street to the north and Jackson Street to the South. The neighborhood has many restaurants, art galleries and upscale shopping. The area retains its brick paved streets from the turn of the 20th century, horse-drawn carriages, and covered sidewalks in some areas. It is not uncommon to see a variety of street performers, artists, and other vendors.

The Broatch Building is located at 1209 Harney Street in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska. Built in 1880 with an 1887 expansion, it was designated an Omaha Landmark on December 20, 1983 and is a contributing building to the Old Market Historic District, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

The Omaha Bolt, Nut and Screw Building is a warehouse building at in Omaha, Nebraska, that was built in 1889. It was designed by architect Henry Voss for the Omaha Bolt, Nut & Screw Company, a hardware distributor based in Omaha. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992 as part of a multiple property submission with other warehouses in Omaha that were part of an economically important "wholesale jobbing" industry that sprang up, taking advantage of Omaha's location and transportation links.: 15 

Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts is located in the Old Market Historic District of downtown Omaha, Nebraska, at the corner of 12th Street and Leavenworth Street. In addition to an international artist-in-residence program, Bemis Center hosts temporary exhibitions and commissions and public programs which are free and open to the public.

The Douglas House was the second hotel in Omaha, Nebraska. Located in present-day Downtown Omaha on the southwest corner of 13th and Harney Streets, the hotel housed influential politicians, speculators, and the first court trial in the Nebraska Territory. A two-story frame structure, it supplemented the earlier St. Nicholas Hotel.

The 1200 Landmark Center is a 255 ft (78 m), 15-story skyscraper at the corner of South 13th and Farnam Streets in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska, United States. As of 2015, the building is formerly home to the Omaha operations of Pacific Life.

The Omaha Police Department (OPD) is the principal law enforcement agency of the city of Omaha, Nebraska, United States. It is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The OPD is the largest law enforcement agency in the state of Nebraska.The OPD has 902 sworn officers covering an area of 118.9 square miles (308 km2) and a population of 478,192 people (2019 census estimate) within city limits.

The Omaha Rail and Commerce Historic District, roughly bounded by Jackson, 15th, and 8th Streets, as well as the Union Pacific main line, is located in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. Today this historic district includes several buildings listed individually on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Union Pacific Depot and the Burlington Station.

On May 30, 2020, James Scurlock, a 22-year-old black male protester, was fatally shot by a 38-year-old bar owner, Jacob "Jake" Gardner after instigating the incident. The shooting took place during the George Floyd protests in Omaha, Nebraska, in the Old Market area of the city, where Scurlock and friends had been among the thousands of protesters who flooded the city's downtown area to cause destruction.Surveillance video of the strip of bars shows a group of people, including Scurlock, approached by Jacob Gardner, his father, and one other male in the street. An altercation began after Scurlock pushed Gardner's father and Gardner's father pushed one of the protestors while asking the group to leave. Another protester ran up and shoved Gardner's father to the ground and then ran away. Gardner, who was nearby, revealed a weapon from his waistband while moving backwards and threatening the group, including Scurlock directly, to "keep the [explicit] away from me". Two people shoved Gardner to the ground, one tackling him, Gardner then fired shots into the air in an effort to warn off the attackers and protect his father. Seconds later, Scurlock jumped on Gardner and had his arm across Gardner's throat. Gardner then fired the gun over his shoulder in an effort to escape the choke hold, striking Scurlock in the clavicle.After 36 hours Gardner was released from police custody after the county attorney concluded that he had acted in self-defense against Scurlock, who had attempted to place Gardner in a headlock. The decision proved controversial amid accusations of racial motivation. It has been described as exacerbating tensions in the United States, and the case was referred to a grand jury for review; a grand jury returned indictments against Gardner on September 15 on four felony criminal charges, including manslaughter. Special prosecutor Fred Franklin stated that Gardner had been "threatening the use of deadly force in the absence of being threatened with ... deadly force by James Scurlock or anyone who was associated with him."On September 20, 2020, the deadline for Gardner to turn himself in, he committed suicide outside a medical center in Hillsboro, Oregon, where he had moved after the incident. His death is currently under investigation by Hillsboro police and medical examiners.

Gene Leahy Mall, also known locally as Central Park or The Mall, is a 9.6-acre (39,000 m2) park located at 1302 Farnam on the Mall in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska, U.S.A., and bordered by South 10th Street. The Mall is encircled by a long pathway that wraps around a large lagoon. There are also waterfalls, two huge slides, a horseshoe pit, and an amphitheater where outdoor concerts are held in the summer. The mall is decorated with thousands of lights during the winter holiday season. Connected on its eastern edge with the Heartland of America Park, it is also borders the W. Dale Clark Library, the former Burlington Headquarters Building, the Old Market and the ConAgra campus.
