Brampton City Hall

Brampton City Council is the governing body for the City of Brampton, Ontario. It consists of the mayor of Brampton (currently Patrick Brown), five elected regional councillors and five elected city councillors. Each councillor represents two city wards.

Peel County is a historic county in the Canadian province of Ontario. Named for Sir Robert Peel, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, the county was organized in 1851. Settlers, however, were in Toronto Township as early as 1807. The Credit River was reserved for the Mississaugas; however, they sold their land and moved to the Bruce Peninsula.

Peel County Courthouse is a historic building located in Brampton, Ontario and served as a courthouse and jail for Peel County and Peel Region, as well as the first home of Peel Regional Council. The two court house was built in a Venetian Gothic style in 1865–66 by architect William Kauffman and Peel County Council began sitting in 1867. A tower is located in the centre top of the building. A three-storey jail was added at the rear in 1867. Peel County sat at the Courthouse until 1973 and then became home to Peel Regional Council from 1973 to 1980 (then moved to the 10 Peel Centre Drive). For a time, the Peel Museum and Art Gallery occupied the building, before the Peel County Jail and Registry Office were renovated to become the Peel Heritage Complex, now known as the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives. Despite a renovation in the 1990s, the courthouse remained inaccessible to the public on a daily basis. After an extensive renovation, currently active, it will host staff offices, a board room, and the Art Gallery of Peel's public reference library. The Courtroom and Council Chamber will be available for rentals.

Gage Park is an urban park in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. It is Brampton's oldest municipal park, originally opened in 1903. The park offers floral gardens, a gazebo, large trees, a fountain, trails for rollerblading and jogging, a children's play area, a wading pool, and summer evening concerts. Ice skating on the temperature-controlled skating trail is a popular wintertime activity.

The Brampton Jail, also known as the Peel County Jail, is located in the city of Brampton, Ontario, Canada at the intersection of Wellington and Main Streets. Built in 1867, and closed in 1977, the building is now a part of the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives, housing part of the museum and all of its storage, as well as the Regional archives reading room and storage. The jail, although designed to house 30 inmates, often saw over 60 men and women packed into its one metre by two metre cells. Most of the overcrowding was because of a lack of facilities for the care of the poor or destitute. Even the nearest hospital was outside town and in 1882, a sick man was housed at the jail after being arrested as a "vagrant". The man, whose name was not recorded, received no medical care from the jail's staff and died at the jail shortly after he was brought into custody.The first of three hangings at the jail took place in 1909, when Stefan Swyrda was hanged, for the murder of 17-year-old Olack Leutick, in the presence of about a dozen witnesses. In 1941, Gordon Mathews was hanged for the murder of his wife. The jail's third and final hanging occurred in 1946 when Walter Zabalotny was executed for the murder of Alice Campbell while in the commission of a robbery. Before renovations began on the new Peel Heritage Complex, the grounds were searched for any bodies that may have been interred there. The only body located was believed to be that of Stefan Swyrda. His body now rests in the Meadowvale Cemetery, in Mississauga, Ontario. Despite the deaths and hangings, staff at the complex have never seen any sign of the supernatural.The Brampton Jail's most notorious inmate was Huey Newton, an American co-founder of the Black Panther Party, who was held there in 1977 while awaiting extradition to the United States for murder. Newton's opinion of the jail was that it was "worse than any jail in Cuba", where he had also been incarcerated.

The Rose is a municipally-owned theatre located in downtown Brampton, Ontario. Originally Rose Theatre Brampton, a series of public events throughout September 2006 culminated in a grand opening on 29 September featuring Diana Krall. The theatre includes a main performance hall with seating for 880, and a smaller multi-purpose hall with seating for 130–160, depending on configuration It was built as "a cultural and tourist destination that will attract significant new business to surrounding restaurants, shops and services". City planners projected that the facilities would generate $2.7 million in economic activity in its first year of operation, and grow to $19.8 million by the fifth year. This is predicted to attract more than 55,000 visitors annually who will spend about $275,000 on before and after-show entertainment, creating close to 300 permanent jobs.The Rose is home to the Rose Theatre Summer Series. The Series is a summer stock theatre festival which includes various theatrical pieces. The shows are in three different venues: The Main Stage, Studio Two and Garden Square.

The Brampton Arts Walk of Fame is an honours system located at the Rose Theatre Brampton, in Ontario, Canada. It previously was known as the Brampton Walk of Fame, or Art Walk of Fame. The first currently recognized inductions took place in 2014, and include past and present residents of Brampton. A previous incarnation, launched in summer 2011 in promotion of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, included an actress who was making her first visit to Brampton. None of these inductions have been followed through on, beyond their initial events.

The Downtown Terminal is a Brampton Transit bus station serving the central area of Brampton, Ontario, Canada. It is located a block north of the intersection of Main Street and Queen Street, the two main streets in downtown. There is direct access to Via Rail and GO Transit trains at the adjoining Brampton GO Station. Municipal and private-sector partnerships funded this facility and built a six-storey office building above the transit terminal. A portion of the ground level of the building accommodates ticket sales and a heated waiting room.

The Central West LHIN is one of fourteen Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) in the Canadian province of Ontario. The Central West Local Health Integration Network is a community-based, non-profit organization funded by the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Brampton ( or ) is a city in the Canadian province of Ontario. It is part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and is a lower-tier municipality within Peel Region. The city has a population of 656,480 as of the 2021 Census, making it the ninth most populous municipality in Canada and the third most populous city in the Greater Golden Horseshoe urban area, behind Toronto and Mississauga. Named after the town of Brampton in Cumberland, England, Brampton was incorporated as a village in 1853 and as a town in 1873, and became a city in 1974.The city was once known as "The Flower Town of Canada", a title referring to its large greenhouse industry. It maintains the term "Flower City" as its slogan.

Brampton Innovation District GO Station (Brampton Station) is a railway station served by GO Transit and Via Rail, located at 27 Church Street West in downtown Brampton, Ontario, Canada. It is directly connected to the Downtown Brampton Terminal which serves GO Transit and Brampton Transit buses.

The Brampton Arts Council was a charitable, multi-arts umbrella organization dedicated to the promotion and development of the arts in the city of Brampton in Ontario, Canada. It represented numerous artists and arts groups, the Brampton Arts Council encourages and recognizes excellence in the arts across the community.
