The Royal Palace of Naples (Italian: Palazzo Reale di Napoli, Neapolitan: Palazzo Riale ‘e Napule) is a palace, museum, and historical tourist destination located in central Naples, southern Italy. It was one of the four residences near Naples used by the House of Bourbon during their rule of the Kingdom of Naples (1735–1816) and later the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies (1816-1861). The others were the palaces of Caserta, Capodimonte overlooking Naples and Portici on the slopes of Vesuvius.

The siege of Naples or siege of Neapolis took place in October–November 536, where Byzantines captured the city controlled by the Ostrogoths (Goths) during the Gothic War (535–554). After securing Sicily, Belisarius crossed the narrow strait to Rhegium and marched along the Italian coast toward Rome. The first resistance came in Naples, where its citizens chose to resist, encouraged by pro-Gothic leaders, despite Belisarius's generous terms. The siege lasted about twenty days with significant Byzantine casualties, and Belisarius nearly called it off before the discovery of a small entrance into the city near the aqueduct. Byzantine troops widened the hole in the rock to ease access in secret. After Belisarius's final offer to surrender was rejected, his troops stormed the city during the night, where killings and looting took place. Belisarius restored order among his troops, allowing his soldiers to keep the loot and releasing all citizens of Naples. The 800-strong Gothic garrison was captured and treated well but the pro-Gothic leaders met violent ends. The fall of Naples opened the way for Belisarius to advance on Rome, which he entered unopposed on 9 December 536.

The Caffè Gambrinus is a historic, private cafe or coffeehouse in Central Naples, Italy on via Chiaia. It is located in the rear of the Palazzo della Prefettura, which lies in front and to side of the Royal Palace of Naples, both of which face the Piazza del Plebiscito. The name Gambrinus is a legendary somewhat tipsy figure of joviality, and his name is used for various brands and many establishments.

The Real Teatro di San Carlo ("Royal Theatre of Saint Charles"), as originally named by the Bourbon monarchy but today known simply as the Teatro (di) San Carlo, is an opera house in Naples, Italy, connected to the Royal Palace and adjacent to the Piazza del Plebiscito. It is the oldest continuously active venue for opera in the world, having opened in 1737, decades before either Milan's La Scala or Venice's La Fenice.The opera season runs from late January to May, with the ballet season taking place from April to early June. The house once had a seating capacity of 3,285, but has now been reduced to 1,386 seats. Given its size, structure and antiquity, it was the model for theatres that were later built in Europe.

The Pegaso University (Italian: Università degli Studi Pegaso or Pegaso Università Telematica), often abbreviated as "Unipegaso", is an open (Italian: aperta) university founded in 2006 in Naples, Italy. The university is accredited and recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education.

The Palazzo della Prefettura or Palace of the Prefecture is a monumental palace located in the central Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples, Italy. It stands in front and to the north of the Royal palace.

The Church of San Ferdinando is a historic church located on the Piazza Triesti e Trento, near the Royal Palace of Naples, in central Naples, Italy.

The Museo del Corallo is a small private museum of coral jewellery in Naples, in Campania in southern Italy. It also holds some cameos and jewellery in ivory and tortoiseshell. The works date from 1805 to 1950.: 224 

San Francesco di Paola is a prominent church located to the west in Piazza del Plebiscito, the main square of Naples, Italy. In the early 19th century, King Joachim Murat of Naples (Napoleon's brother-in-law) planned the entire square and the large building with the colonnades as a tribute to the emperor. When Napoleon was finally dispatched, the Bourbons were restored to the throne of Naples. Ferdinand I continued the construction - finished in 1816 - but converted the final product into the church one sees today. He dedicated it to Saint Francis of Paola, who had stayed in a monastery on this site in the 16th century. The church is reminiscent of the Pantheon in Rome. The façade is fronted by a portico resting on six columns and two Ionic pillars. Inside, the church is circular with two side chapels. The dome is 53 metres (174 ft) high. The portico is by Neapolitan architect Leopoldo Laperuta, while the main building is by the Swiss architect Pietro Bianchi.

Galleria Umberto I is a public shopping gallery in Naples, southern Italy. It is located directly across from the San Carlo opera house. It was built between 1887–1890, and was the cornerstone in the decades-long rebuilding of Naples—called the risanamento (lit. "making healthy again")—that lasted until World War I. It was designed in the Stile Umbertino by Emanuele Rocco, who employed modern architectural elements reminiscent of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan. The Galleria was named after Umberto I, King of Italy at the time of construction. It was meant to combine businesses, shops, cafés and social life—public space—with private space in the apartments on the third floor.The Galleria is a high and spacious cross-shaped structure, surmounted by a glass dome braced by 16 metal ribs. Of the four iron and glass-vaulted wings, one fronts on via Toledo (via Roma), still the main downtown thoroughfare, and another opens onto the San Carlo Theatre. It has returned to being an active center of Neapolitan civic life after years of decay. The building is part of the UNESCO listing of the Historic Centre of Naples as a World Heritage Site.The Galleria Umberto is the setting for The Gallery (1947) by the American writer John Horne Burns (1916–1953) based on his experiences as an American soldier in Naples shortly after the liberation of the city.

Santa Brigida is a church located on Via Santa Brigida in central Naples, Italy. The church is a few doors down from one of the entrances to the Galleria Umberto I.

Palazzo Barbaja is a palace located on via Toledo of the quartiere San Ferdinando of Naples, Italy. The palace was the home of Domenico Barbaja, a famous theater impresario of 19th century Naples. In the years 1815–1822, Gioacchino Rossini was his guest at times. Rossini had a contract with the Teatro del Fondo to write the music for the libretto of Francesco Berio Salsa to Otello. Berio also lived nearby. Because of his dilatory progress, Rossini was almost imprisoned in his room until he finished the music. The building dates back to 16th century and was remodeled in the second half of the 18th century in a sober neoclassical style. The ground floor and the mezzanine are covered in ashlar blocks. The first two floors above the ground are marked by giant Ionic pilasters.
