The Kenilworth is a luxury 12-floor co-operative apartment building in Manhattan on the Gold Coast of Central Park West, located at 151 Central Park West, at 75th Street. Named for the 12-century Kenilworth Castle, construction on the residential building was completed in 1908, and was designed in the French Second Empire-style by architects Townsend, Steinle and Haskell, with three units per floor.The Kenilworth is located within the Upper West Side-Central Park West Historic District designated by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, and is a contributing property to the federally designated Central Park West Historic District. Other Beaux-Arts apartment properties in this area of the same period include: The Prasada, The Langham, and The Saint Urban.

The American LGBTQ+ Museum is a museum in development on the Upper West Side of Manhattan that will focus on New York City's LGBTQ history. It will be part of the campus of the New-York Historical Society, which is undergoing a 70,000 square feet (6,500 m2) expansion, and is slated to open in 2024. Under the leadership of Richard Burns, the museum's board chair, planning for a museum began in 2017. Ben Garcia was named the museum's first executive director in January 2022.

The New-York Historical Society is an American history museum and library in New York City, at the corner of 77th Street and Central Park West, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The society was founded in 1804 as New York's first museum. It presents exhibitions, public programs, and research that explore the history of New York and the nation. The New-York Historical Society Museum & Library has been at its present location since 1908. The granite building was designed by York & Sawyer in a classic Roman Eclectic style. The building is a designated New York City landmark. A renovation, completed in November 2011, made the building more accessible to the public, provided space for an interactive children's museum, and facilitated access to its collections. Louise Mirrer has been the president of the Historical Society since 2004. She was previously Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the City University of New York. Beginning in 2005, the museum presented a two-year exhibit on Slavery in New York, its largest theme exhibition in 200 years on a topic which it had never addressed before. It included an art exhibit by artists invited to use museum collections in their works. The Society generally focuses on the developing city center in Manhattan. Another historical society, the Long Island Historical Society (later Brooklyn Historical Society) was founded in Brooklyn in 1863. The New-York Historical Society holds an extensive collection of historical artifacts, works of American art, and other materials documenting the history of New York and the United States. It presents well-researched exhibitions on a variety of topics and periods in American history, such as George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Slavery in New York, The Hudson River School, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, Tiffany designer Clara Driscoll, and the history of the Constitution. The Society also offers an extensive range of curriculum-based school programs and teacher resources, and provides academic fellowships and organizes public programs for adults to foster lifelong learning and a deep appreciation of history.

The San Remo is a luxury 27-floor co-operative apartment building at 145 Central Park West, between West 74th and 75th Streets, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. Opened in 1930, the San Remo is described by Glen Justice of the New York Times as "a dazzling two-tower building with captivating views of Central Park." As a housing cooperative, its board has a reputation for "lenient admissions standards" compared to the conservative, old-money boards on the other side of the park.

The Langham is a luxury apartment building located at 135 Central Park West on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City. After the site was unused for more than 15 years, the building was constructed between 1905 and 1907. Built at a cost of US $2 million, the structure included modern amenities, such as ice accessible from every apartment. The building was designed in the French Second Empire style by architects Clinton and Russell. It was listed as a contributing property to the federal government designated Central Park West Historic District on November 9, 1982.

The West 76th Street Historic District is a historic district on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City, New York, US. It includes a series of rowhouses on 76th Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue, which were listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1980. The NRHP district overlaps with the Central Park West–76th Street Historic District, designated by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1973. The houses date from between 1887 and 1900. The buildings were designed in a variety of revivalist architectural styles, including the Romanesque, Renaissance, and Gothic revival styles. All of the houses are subject to various covenants, which restricted their height. The LPC district includes four additional buildings (44 West 77th Street, The Kenilworth, Church of the Divine Paternity, and New York Historical) which are not in the NRHP district, but are covered by other NRHP designations.

Wright-Humason School for the Deaf in New York City was a specialist school attended by Helen Keller from 1894 to 1896.

The American Museum of Natural History (abbreviated as AMNH) is a private 501(c)(3) natural history museum on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. In Theodore Roosevelt Park, across the street from Central Park, the museum complex comprises 26 interconnected buildings housing 45 permanent exhibition halls, in addition to a planetarium and a library. The museum collections contain over 34 million specimens of plants, animals, fossils, minerals, rocks, meteorites, human remains, and human cultural artifacts, as well as specialized collections for frozen tissue and genomic and astrophysical data, of which only a small fraction can be displayed at any given time. The museum occupies more than 2 million square feet (190,000 m2). AMNH has a full-time scientific staff of 225, sponsors over 120 special field expeditions each year, and averages about five million visits annually.The mission statement of the American Museum of Natural History is: "To discover, interpret, and disseminate—through scientific research and education—knowledge about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe."

The John Burroughs Association was founded in 1921 to commemorate the life and works of author/naturalist John Burroughs (1837-1921). Administered out of offices at the American Museum of Natural History, the Association owns the John Burroughs Sanctuary at West Park, in the town of Esopus, New York. The Sanctuary is the site of John Burroughs's cabin, Slabsides, a National Historic Landmark built 1895. In addition to maintaining the Sanctuary, the John Burroughs Association publishes a newsletter, The Wake Robin. It also, on an annual basis, presents the John Burroughs Medal for distinguished nature writing at book-length, and another award for essay-length nature writing.

44 West 77th Street (also known as the Studio Building or Studio Apartments) is a 14-story housing cooperative on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City, New York, US. It was designed by Harde & Short in the Neo-Gothic style and was completed in 1909. The apartment building has a brick facade and limestone trim, with elaborate arched doorway. The facade has three protruding bays of large, north-facing windows, intended in part to illuminate artists' studios inside. The ground-floor lobby has a vaulted ceiling. The upper stories have a mixture of large apartments for general use and smaller artists' apartments with 1+1⁄2-story studio rooms. The building's developer, the artist Walter Russell, had previously built similar structures in the West 67th Street Artists' Colony. Russell acquired the site in 1907 and completed it two years later, selling it to a group that converted it to a cooperative. The facade needed repairs by 1911, and the terracotta decorations were largely dismantled in the 1940s. The building was again converted to cooperative use in 1970, and the facade was restored in the 1990s. The Studio Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a contributing property to the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission's Central Park West-76th Street Historic District.

The Allison and Roberto Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals are a series of exhibition halls at the American Museum of Natural History on the Upper West Side in Manhattan, New York City. The halls opened on June 12, 2021, as a complete redesign of their predecessors, the Harry Frank Guggenheim Hall of Gems and Minerals and Morgan Memorial Hall of Gems. The halls feature thousands of rare gems, mineral specimens and pieces of jewelry.

The Dakota, also known as the Dakota Apartments, is a cooperative apartment building at 1 West 72nd Street on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City, United States. The Dakota was constructed between 1880 and 1884 in the Renaissance Revival style and was designed by Henry Janeway Hardenbergh for businessman Edward Cabot Clark. The building was one of the first large developments on the Upper West Side and is the oldest remaining luxury apartment building in New York City. The building is a National Historic Landmark and has been designated a city landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. The building is also a contributing property to the Central Park West Historic District. The Dakota occupies the western side of Central Park West between 72nd and 73rd Streets. It is largely square in plan and built around a central "I"-shaped courtyard, through which all apartments are accessed. Formerly, there was a garden to the west of the Dakota, underneath which was a mechanical plant serving the Dakota and some adjacent row houses. The facade is largely composed of brick with sandstone trim and terracotta detailing. The main entrance is a double-height archway on 72nd Street, which leads to the courtyard. The building's design includes deep roofs with dormers, terracotta spandrels and panels, niches, balconies, and balustrades. Each apartment at the Dakota had a unique layout with four to twenty rooms. The apartments were divided into quadrants, each of which had a stair and an elevator for tenants, as well as another stair and another elevator for servants. Clark announced plans for an apartment complex at the site in 1879 and work began in late October 1880. The building was not given its name until mid-1882, and Clark died before the Dakota was completed in October 1884. The Dakota was fully rented upon its completion. The building was managed by the Clark family for eight decades and remained largely unchanged during that time. In 1961, the Dakota's residents bought the building from the Clark family and converted it into a housing cooperative. The Dakota has historically been home to many artists, actors, and musicians, including John Lennon, who was murdered outside the building in 1980.
