Seoul Plaza

Seoul City Hall is a governmental building for the Seoul Metropolitan Government in South Korea, in charge of the administrative affairs of Seoul. It is located in Taepyeongno, Jung-gu, at the heart of Seoul. It is connected to City Hall Station (Seoul) on Seoul Subway Line 1, with access to Seoul Subway Line 2 from the same station. In front of the current city hall is the old city hall building, now Seoul Metropolitan Library, and Seoul Plaza (Korean: 서울광장).

Seoul Metropolitan Library(Korean: 서울도서관) is a Metropolitan Library in Seoul, South Korea. It is located in Taepyeongno, Jung-gu, the heart of Seoul, facing the Seoul City Hall and Seoul Plaza, next to the City Hall Station on Seoul Subway Line 1.

The Seoul Metropolitan Area (Sudogwon; Korean: 수도권, [sʰu.do.k͈wʌ̹n]) or Gyeonggi region (경기 지방), is the metropolitan area of Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi Province, located in north-western South Korea. Its population of 26 million (as of 2024)[1] is ranked as the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the world. Its area is about 12,685 km2 (4,898 sq mi). It forms the cultural, commercial, financial, industrial, and residential center of South Korea. The largest city is Seoul, with a population of approximately 10 million people, followed by Incheon, with three million inhabitants.

City Hall Station is a station on Seoul Subway lines 1 (Blue Line) and 2 (Green Line). As its name suggests, Seoul City Hall is located right next to the station. Deoksugung, a historic palace of the Joseon dynasty, is on the other side of the boulevard named Taepyeongno.

Hwangudan Altar, located in Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea, was built in 1897 to serve as a site for the performance of the rite of heaven. The site was also known by other names, such as Wongudan (원구단, 圜丘壇), Jecheondan (제천단, 祭天壇) and Wondan (원단, 圜壇). Hwangudan was designated South Korea's Historic Site No. 157 on July 15, 1967.

La Cantina (Korean: 라칸티나) is a historic Italian restaurant in Jung District, Seoul, South Korea. It is the oldest Italian restaurant in South Korea, having been founded in 1967. The restaurant was designated a Seoul Future Heritage site by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The business was founded by Lee Jae-du (이재두). It has remained in the same location since its founding; its interior decoration has reportedly remained much the same since its founding. Initially, because Italian food ingredients were so uncommon in Seoul around the time of the restaurant's founding, it had to substitute ingredients that it could not find otherwise. For example, it reportedly used noodles similar to that of the Korean noodle dish kal-guksu in place of the Italian noodles linguine; eventually the restaurant made the food more authentic. In 1982, Lee's son Tae-hoon (이태훈) inherited the business; Tae-hoon fully took over operations after his father died in 2013. The restaurant had a branch in Gangnam District that closed in 1998, amidst the 1997 Asian financial crisis. In 2016, it was reported that the restaurant's employees were mostly long-time staff; the average age of the workers was in the 50s, and the youngest worker was in their mid-40s.

Bumingwan (Korean: 부민관; Hanja: 府民館; MR: Pumin'gwan; Modified Hepburn: Fuminkan) is a historic building in Seoul, South Korea. It currently serves as a building for the Seoul Metropolitan Council. It was designated a Registered Cultural Heritage in 2002.

The Cathedral Church of St Mary the Virgin and St Nicholas (Korean: 대한성공회 서울주교좌대성당), Seoul Anglican Cathedral, or simply Seoul Cathedral, is an Anglican cathedral in Seoul, South Korea. It is the mother church of both the Anglican Church of Korea and the Diocese of Seoul. Its location is adjacent to Deoksugung, the British Embassy in Seoul, Seoul Metropolitan Council, and Seoul City Hall. Construction began in 1922 to a design by English architect Arthur Stansfield Dixon. The Cathedral is known for its Romanesque Revival architecture, together with its mosaic murals. In 1985, a Harrison & Harrison pipe organ was installed in the Cathedral's west end. Expansion of the Cathedral began in 1991 and was completed in 1996. In 1978, the Cathedral was designated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government as Tangible Cultural Property No. 35.

Deoksugung, also known as Gyeongun-gung, Deoksugung Palace, or Deoksu Palace, is a walled compound of palaces in Seoul that was inhabited by members of Korea's Royal Family during the Joseon monarchy until the annexation of Korea by Japan in 1910. It is one of the "Five Grand Palaces" built by the kings of the Joseon Dynasty and designated as a Historic Site. The buildings are of varying styles, including some of natural cryptomeria wood), painted wood, and stucco. Some buildings were built of stone to replicate western palatial structures. In addition to the traditional palace buildings, there are also forested gardens, a statue of King Sejong the Great and the National Museum of Art, which holds special exhibitions. The palace is located near City Hall Station. Deoksugung, like the other "Five Grand Palaces" in Seoul, was heavily damaged during the colonial period of Korea. Currently, only one third of the structures that were standing before the occupation remain.Deoksugung Palace is special among Korean palaces. It has a modern and a western style garden and fountain. The Changing of the Royal Guard, in front of Daehanmun (Gate), is a very popular event for many visitors. The royal guard was responsible for opening and closing the palace gate during the Joseon Dynasty. Outside of the palace is a picturesque road with a stone wall.The Deoksugung Stonewall walkway is at the heart of a popular urban myth in Seoul, as it is said that all couples who walk down this road are fated to break-up.
