Menntaskólinn Hraðbraut (or Hraðbraut; meaning in Icelandic: speedway) was a privately run Icelandic secondary school that ran from 2003 to 2012. The school awarded a student degree after two years of study instead of the then standard four; the school's name reflected this express course.

Laugardalur (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈlœiːɣarˌtaːlʏr̥]) is a district of Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. It is just east of the city centre and contains various recreational facilities including the main stadium. The name means "hot spring valley" (literally translates to "pool valley"), as washing laundry was once done in geothermal hot springs there until the 1930s.

Reykjavík Botanic Garden (Latin: Hortus Botanicus Reykjavikensis, Icelandic: Grasagarður Reykjavíkur [ˈkraːsaˌkarðʏr ˈreiːcaˌviːkʏr̥]) is a botanical garden located in the district of Laugardalur in Reykjavík that was established on August 18, 1961 on the 175th anniversary of the city.The garden currently conserves more than 5,000 plant species in eight plant collections and offers prosperous birdlife, particularly grey geese. One of the many purposes of the institution is education, with guided tours being provided to the public and school groups annually visiting the park. It is a member of the Botanic Gardens Conservation International organization with the code REYK.

Námsflokkar Reykjavíkur is the oldest adult education institute in Iceland, established in 1939. Its current director is Iðunn Antonsdóttir.

The Reykjavík Mosque (Icelandic: Moskan í Reykjavík) is a mosque and gathering area for Muslims in Iceland. It is located in the Ármúli district. The mosque was opened in 2002 by the Muslim Association of Iceland after requesting the city government for permission to build a purpose-built mosque in 2000, with no swift response.

Víkingsvöllur (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈviːciŋsˌvœtlʏr̥]) is a football stadium in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is currently used for football matches and is the home ground of Víkingur F.C. The stadium holds around 2,000, with 1,149 seats, and is located at 'Traðarland' in Fossvogsdalur, south-east of the city center

Nesbraut (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈnɛsˌprœiːt]), or Route 49, is a major traffic artery in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is one of the two main roads running across Capital Region, the other being Kringlumýrarbraut. The name Nesbraut is not well known among locals as it is usually referred to by its main segments: Miklabraut [ˈmɪhklaˌprœiːt] and Hringbraut [ˈr̥iŋkˌprœiːt].

Hvassaleiti (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈkʰvassaˌleiːtɪ]) is a neighbourhood in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland (103, Reykjavík). Children there used to go to two schools Hvassaleitisskóli (founded in 1966) or Álftamýraskóli (founded in 1964). After their merger children attend Háaleitisskóli. The shopping centre Austurver is located in Hvassaleiti, and the shopping mall Kringlan is adjacent.

Kleppur or Kleppsspítali is an Icelandic psychiatric hospital that is operated by The National University Hospital of Iceland. The first laws concerning Kleppur were nr. 33/1905, accepted by Christian IX on 20 October and the institution was opened in 1907, originally housing 50 patients. Kleppur was the first medical institution that was constructed and ran completely on public funds. The institution's administration consisted of the Icelandic Director of Health and individuals appointed by the Icelandic government. At the time of the hospital's founding, mental illness was a very big issue. Mentally ill individuals were commonly mistreated and their quality of living were nowhere near that of those who were of good mental health. The year 1901, a census was done to count the number of mentally ill individuals in the country. The census found 133 mentally ill individuals, 124 of which lived in rural areas. The hospital changed a lot, although it could not take in everyone that needed is, as the Director of Health at that time told Alþingi. The hospital's methods of operation have changed drastically of the years with the introduction of new and improved therapeutics. Today, Kleppur's operations mainly consist of rehabilitation and various treatments for people with mental health problems, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression and addiction. Kleppur now has a polyclinic, three psychiatric rehabilitation wards, a security ward, and a forensic unit.

Grímsbær (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈkrimsˌpaiːr̥]) is a small shopping centre in the middle of Reykjavík, Iceland. Originally a two-story structure built into a hillside, in 2004 a third floor was built on top of the existing structure and the centre grew to around 2000 m2, which it remains to this day.

Háaleiti og Bústaðir (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈhauːaˌleiːtɪ ɔːɣ ˈpuːˌstaːðɪr̥]) is a district of Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. Within the district are four neighbourhoods: Háaleiti proper, Kringla [ˈkʰriŋla], Gerði [ˈcɛrðɪ] and Fossvogur [ˈfɔsːˌvɔːɣʏr̥].

Laugardalshöll (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈlœiːɣarˌtalsˌhœtl̥]; also known as Laugardalshöllin [-ˌhœtlɪn] and Laugardalsholl Sport Center) is a multi-purpose sports and exhibition venue located in the Laugardalur district of Iceland's capital Reykjavík. The complex consists of two main venues, a sports hall and indoor arena for track and field athletics events. Opened on 4 December 1965, it hosts a variety of sporting events, such as handball, basketball, volleyball and athletics, as well as various other events as a general purpose venue. The capacity of the main hall, Laugardalshöllin, is up to 5,500 people for sports and around 3,000 seated (or 5,000 standing) for concerts. It is the home arena to the Icelandic national teams (both male and female) in basketball and handball. It was the largest concert venue in Iceland for many decades (before the opening of Egilshöll), with a maximum standing capacity of 10,000 (or 5,000 seated) in Frjálsíþróttahöllin, the adjoined athletics center.
