Island Heights School District

Island Heights is a borough in Ocean County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 1,650, a decrease of 23 (−1.4%) from the 2010 census count of 1,673, which in turn reflected a decline of 78 (−4.5%) from the 1,751 counted in the 2000 census.The borough is a dry town where alcohol cannot legally be sold.

Toms River High School East is a comprehensive four-year public high school, the third high school built in Toms River in Ocean County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades as part of the Toms River Regional Schools. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,552 students and 103.1 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 15.1:1. There were 274 students (17.7% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 78 (5.0% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.The school won several awards for its heating system, which utilizes heat generating lighting fixtures. Its school colors are black, gray and Columbia blue (blue was not an original color when HSE started). The school mascot is the Raider. The school day lasts six hours and 20 minutes. The Toms River high school day ends at 1:35 PM, one of the earliest daily closing time of any high schools in New Jersey.

As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 2,139, its highest ever decennial count and an increase of 12 (+0.6%) from the 2010 census count of 2,127, which in turn reflected an increase of 177 (+9.1%) from the 1,950 counted in the 2000 census.Pine Beach was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 26, 1925, from portions of Berkeley Township.

Ocean Gate School District is a community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade from Ocean Gate in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2018–19 school year, the district, comprising one school, had an enrollment of 142 students and 15.4 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 9.2:1. In the 2016–17 school year, Ocean Gate was tied as having the 26th smallest enrollment of any school district in the state, with 149 students.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "B", the second-lowest of eight groupings. Schools in the high school district (with 2018–19 enrollment data from the National Center for Education Statistics) are Central Regional Middle School with 769 students in grades 7–8 and Central Regional High School with 1,483 students in grades 9–12. The high school district's board of education consists of nine members, who are directly elected by the residents of the constituent municipalities to three-year terms of office on a staggered basis, with three seats up for election each year. Ocean Gate is allocated one of the board's nine seats.

Cattus Island County Park, also known as Cattus Island is a 530 acres (2 km2) passive recreational park located in Toms River, New Jersey. Cattus Island is a park of the Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation. Cattus Island is home to the Cooper Environmental Center, an educational center which displays collections of local wildlife including birds, reptiles, and aquatic animals. The center also provides educational programs and presentations to the public and organized groups.

Donovan Catholic High School, (formerly Monsignor Donovan High School) located in Toms River, is the only Roman Catholic high school in Ocean County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, and operates under the supervision of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Trenton. Located in the coastal community of Toms River Township, the school originally opened in 1962 as St. Joseph High School, but was renamed as Monsignor Donovan High School after its founder, Msgr. Lawrence Donovan in 1983, before adopting its current name in 2014.Donovan Catholic became an IB World School in January 2017, offering students the IB Diploma Programme. The school is accredited by AdvancED.As of the 2017–18 school year, the school had an enrollment of 708 students and 61.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.1:1. The school's student body was 85.6% White, 6.9% Asian, 3.1% Hispanic, 1.8% Black, 0.6% Native Hawaiian / Pacific Islander, 0.4% American Indian / Alaska Native and 1.8% two or more races.The school mascot is the Griffin. In the 1960s, the school (then St. Joseph High School) sponsored a contest to name the mascot. Finalists were chosen by the faculty from the submissions, and then the students voted on the finalists. The winning name was George.

The Seacourt Pavilion is a regional shopping center on Hooper Avenue in Toms River, New Jersey. It is right across the street from the Ocean County Mall. The mall has a gross leasable area of 253,000 sq ft (23,500 m2).The shopping center is split-level, with the parking lot on the east side higher than on the west side. Tenants include Marshalls, Pier 1 Imports (closing 2020), AMC/Loew's Cineplex (closing August 21, 2022), Ashley HomeStore, and HomeGoods. Former tenants include; Old Country Buffet, LA Fitness, (which has its own porte-cochere), Lionel Kiddie City, and Nobody Beats The Wiz.

Bayville is an unincorporated community located within Berkeley Township in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. The area is served as United States Postal Service ZIP Code 08721. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population for ZIP Code Tabulation Area (ZCTA) 08721 was 20,512. Central Regional High School is the local high school for the area. Bayville is home to the majority of Double Trouble State Park, where Ocean Spray manages a cranberry bog. The area is said to be haunted by the mythical Jersey Devil.Bayville received 21 inches (530 mm) of snow in the January 2022 North American blizzard, the most of any place in the state.WOBM-FM radio started broadcasting from Bayville in March 1968. The station relocated to studios in Toms River in 2013.

The Elizabeth Sculthorp Force House, also known as the Pierson–Sculthorp House, is located at 26 Hadley Avenue in Toms River in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. The historic house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 4, 2019, for its significance in education. It is currently the home of the Ocean County Historical Society.

The Ocean County Mall is a super-regional mall, opened On July 20, 1976, by Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation, located in Toms River, New Jersey on Hooper Avenue (County Route 549). The mall is accessible from Exit 82 of the Garden State Parkway via Route 37 East. The mall is managed by Simon Property Group. The mall has a gross leasable area of 791,125 sq ft (73,497.9 m2).The mall is anchored by Boscov's, JCPenney, and Macy's. The center went under development in 2019 bringing a slew of national retail and restaurant tenants like ULTA Beauty, On The Border, P.F. Chang's, HomeSense and more. It also contains several eateries, and a food court. The Ocean County Mall is the only enclosed mall in Ocean County. It is a popular destination for tourists in the Toms River area during the summer season.

The Captain Amos Birdsall House was located at 234 Washington Street in Toms River in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. The historic Colonial Revival house was built in 1868. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 13, 1982, for its significance in social history. It was destroyed by fire on May 31, 2016.
