Brick Towers

Glencoe, also known as Coe Mansion, is located in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The building was built in 1871 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 1, 1991.

Kenney Memorial Hospital, located at 130 West Kinney Street in Newark, New Jersey was founded by Dr. John A. Kenney Sr. in 1927. Between 1927 and 1934, Kenney Memorial served 4,543 bed patients, 584 free clinic patients and performed 1,109 operations with only 19 deaths. The hospital was renamed the Booker T. Washington Community Hospital in 1935. It closed in 1953. The building is now the New Salem Baptist Church. The building, listed as the Community Hospital, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 22, 2004, for its significance in health/medicine and ethnic heritage. A museum honoring Kenney is planned for the site.

The Krueger-Scott Mansion is located in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The mansion was built on the corner of Court and High Street (now Martin Luther King Boulevard) in 1888 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 9, 1972. As of 2023, it has been completely restored and elaborately landscaped as part of an artisanal workspace project.

Lincoln Park is a city square and neighborhood, also known as "the Coast," in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. It is bounded by the Springfield/Belmont, South Broad Valley, South Ironbound and Downtown neighborhoods. It is bounded by Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (High Street) to the west, West Kinney St. to the north, the McCarter Highway to the east and South St., Pennsylvania Avenue, Lincoln Park and Clinton Avenue to the south. Part of the neighborhood is a historic district listed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places. Lincoln Park as a street turns into Clinton Avenue toward the south and north edge of the park.

St. James' A.M.E. Church is a historic church located at High and Court Streets in Newark, New Jersey. Built in 1850 by architect John Welch and dedicated in 1854, it was originally called the High Street Presbyterian Church until 1926, when it was briefly disbanded. It was re-established as Bethel AME Church before being renamed Saint James' AME Church.

Catedral Evangelica Reformada, originally the Clinton Avenue Reformed Church, is a historic church located at 27 Lincoln Park and Halsey Street in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Newark in Essex County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 26, 1972, for its significance in architecture and religion. It was added as a contributing property to the Lincoln Park Historic District on January 5, 1984.

American History High School is a magnet public high school in the University Heights neighborhood of Newark, in Essex County, New Jersey, United States, operating since its establishment in 2006 as part of the Newark Public Schools. Operating together with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the New Jersey Historical Society and Rutgers–Newark, American History High School's magnet program is designed to take advantage of the city's place in American history and its access to academic, cultural and civic resources as part of a college preparatory curriculum designed to assist students in understanding local, state and national history and preparing each student to attend college.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 432 students and 41.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.5:1. There were 340 students (78.7% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 38 (8.8% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

The Star-Ledger is the largest circulated newspaper in the U.S. state of New Jersey and is based in Newark. It is a sister paper to The Jersey Journal of Jersey City, The Times of Trenton and the Staten Island Advance, all of which are owned by Advance Publications. In 2007, The Star-Ledger's daily circulation was reportedly more than the next two largest New Jersey newspapers combined, and its Sunday circulation was larger than the next three papers combined. It has suffered great declines in print circulation in recent years, to 180,000 daily in 2013, then to 114,000 "individually paid print circulation," which is the number of copies being bought by subscription or at newsstands, in 2015.In July 2013, the paper announced that it would sell its headquarters building in Newark. In the same year, Advance Publications announced it was exploring cost-saving changes among its New Jersey properties, but was not considering mergers or changes in publication frequency at any of the newspapers, nor the elimination of home delivery.

South Park Calvary United Presbyterian Church is a historic church built in 1853 and located at 1035 Broad Street in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Newark in Essex County, New Jersey. Only the facade remains, following a 1992 fire. Also known as the South Park Presbyterian Church, it was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey in 1936. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 5, 1972, for its significance in architecture.

Newark Arts High School is a four-year magnet public high school, serving students in Ninth through twelfth grades in Newark, in Essex County, New Jersey, United States, operating as part of the Newark Public Schools. The school is located in the University Heights section of Newark. Starting in 2011-12, the 7th graders of William Brown Academy were housed there as its venue was being built. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 601 students and 52.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.4:1. There were 387 students (64.4% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 84 (14.0% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Newark Symphony Hall is a performing arts center located at 1020 Broad Street in Newark, New Jersey. Built in 1925, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. It was known for many years as The Mosque Theater, and is the former home of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, New Jersey State Opera and the New Jersey Ballet Company.The Hall is owned by the Essex County Improvement Authority and is operated by the non-profit Newark Performing Arts Corporation (NPAC).
