Willowdale (provincial electoral district)

Willowdale is a federal electoral district in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1979. It is the riding with the biggest Korean community in Canada. As per the 2021 census, 9.9% of the population of Willowdale is Korean.For a long time this riding was considered a Liberal stronghold, having been won by the Liberal Party of Canada in all but one election since 1980. Longtime Liberal MP Jim Peterson was the riding's MP from 1980 to 1984 and from 1988 to 2007, and Martha Hall Findlay was the riding MP from 2008 to 2011. Long considered a safe Liberal seat, Conservative candidate Chungsen Leung won by 932 votes on the May 2, 2011 federal election. In the 2015 federal election, the seat returned to the Liberal Party with Ali Ehsassi unseating Leung. This district is home to some landmarks like Mel Lastman Square, the Toronto Centre for the Arts and the Claude Watson School for the Arts.

Finch is the northern terminus subway station of the eastern section of Line 1 Yonge–University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located under Yonge Street, north of Finch Avenue.Finch is the busiest TTC bus terminal and the sixth-busiest subway station, serving approximately 102,025 people per day. The station connects with other transit agencies at the adjoining Finch Bus Terminal.

Finch Hotel was an inn located in current-day Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was opened in 1848 by John Finch on Lot # 2, Concession # 1, with a land size of 200 acres (81 ha). Before Finch's takeover, the inn was owned by Thomas Johnson from the late 1790s. Finch Avenue, a main arterial road in Toronto and the surrounding Peel Region and Durham Region, was named after John Finch.

Finch GO Bus Terminal is a bus terminal in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It serves to connect the transit services of York Region to the north and the transit services of Toronto. It is located at 5697 Yonge Street on the northeast corner of Bishop Avenue and Yonge Street, one block north of Finch Avenue, connected by tunnel to Finch subway station. The station facilities, constructed by GO Transit, are within a major east-west electricity transmission corridor owned by Hydro One Networks. Transit agencies that use the terminal are GO Transit and York Region Transit/VivaThe terminal was built by the Toronto Transit Commission in 1974, and was acquired by the Toronto Area Transportation Operating Authority in March 1977.An elevator and new platforms were added in mid-2005 to accommodate Viva bus rapid transit service, which York Region Transit began operating on September 4, 2005. It is the southern terminus of the Viva Blue and Viva Pink lines. New shelters were added along the south platform to replace the smaller shelters to accommodate more passengers waiting for buses at the terminal. Platforms for GO Transit and York Region Transit remain unchanged until September 2012. The platform next to the station, formerly for GO Transit buses was rebuilt and lowered for Viva buses. Inside is a newsstand, washrooms and indoor Viva kiosks. A set of escalators connects to the Finch TTC station across the street. A set of covered stairs on the south side of the station also connects to Finch. The east of the platforms and next to the TTC east parking lot is a parking area for 13 standard buses (30–40 foot buses). Passenger pickups by taxis can be made from the taxi stand on the southeast side of the station next to Bishop Avenue, an off-street driveway.

Newtonbrook is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the area around Yonge Street and Finch Avenue in the district of North York between the east and west branches of the Don River. Officially, the area is divided into two neighbourhoods; Newtonbrook West and Newtonbrook East.

Dempsey Store was a hardware store built in 1860 at the northwest corner of Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue, in North York, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The historic store was moved and restored as a historic site further north at 250 Beecroft Road in 1996. The site in Dempsey Park is maintained by the Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation Division and the North York Historical Society. The building is protected under Park IV of the Ontario Heritage Act since 1998. The designation notes: "Architecturally, the Dempsey store is a unique example of a rural mid-19th century building constructed in the Georgian Survival style with Neo-Classical influences. Its recent restoration has reintroduced those picturesque architectural elements that were added to the exterior of the building during the closing decades of the 19th century."

Gibson House is a historical museum in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located on Yonge Street, in the North York Centre neighbourhood of the former city of North York.

Avondale Alternative Secondary School is a public alternative school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It teaches grades 9 through 12. ASAS and its family schools, Avondale Elementary School and Avondale Alternative Elementary School, are part of the Toronto District School Board. Prior to 1998, the schools were part of the North York Board of Education. The school moved to 24 Silverview Drive in 2016.

North York City Centre is a central business district in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in the administrative district of North York. It is located along Yonge Street, between just south of Sheppard Avenue northward to Finch Avenue with its focus around Mel Lastman Square, a civic square, and spreads eastwards and westwards a few blocks, generally as far as Doris Avenue and Beecroft Road. The district is a high-density district of condominium and office towers with ground-floor commercial uses along the wide six lanes of Yonge Street. The district was developed following the extension of the Yonge subway north to Finch Station. In the 1970s and 80s, the former City of North York encouraged the development of the area as a downtown, locating its civic offices, a public square, a central library, an arts centre and an aquatic centre on the west side of Yonge, about 600 metres north of Sheppard. The area's growth increased following the opening of North York Centre station at Mel Lastman Square and the Sheppard subway line. A shopping mall and cinemas were developed on the east side of Yonge Street across from Mel Lastman Square in the 1990s. It is mostly located in the larger official neighbourhood of Willowdale, part of the former city of North York, and a former municipality (postal district) of its own, but also abuts the Lansing neighbourhood on the east side of Yonge Street near Sheppard Avenue. Following the amalgamation of North York with the rest of Toronto, North York City Centre became the largest of four central business districts in the new city outside Downtown Toronto. All of the civic facilities were retained by the new City of Toronto.

North York City Centre is an office tower complex in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Completed in 1989, it is home to the North York Central Library, secondary offices of the City of Toronto government, and other corporate headquarters. The 18-storey, glass-clad structure overlooks Mel Lastman Square and North York City Hall. It is across the street from Empress Walk. On the north side is the Novotel (North York) hotel. It is located in the North York City Centre district at 5160 Yonge Street.

North York Central Library is a Toronto Public Library branch located in North York City Centre, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is one of the two libraries in Toronto considered to be "Research and Reference Libraries", the other being the Toronto Reference Library in the city's downtown core. In contrast to the Toronto Reference Library, however, most of the items in the North York Central Library can be signed out. The library is located inside the North York Centre twin-tower office/hotel/retail complex (5150 Yonge Street). 5150 Yonge Street is on the west side of Yonge Street (across the street from Empress Walk) and forms the north side of Mel Lastman Square. The library is adjacent North York Civic Centre, which until 1998 was the North York's City Hall. It is served by the North York Centre subway station, which has a direct underground connection to the mall containing the library. In 2016, the library underwent a major renovation. The library reopened in 2018.

North York Centre is a subway station on Line 1 Yonge–University of the Toronto subway system. The station is located under Yonge Street, where it is intersected by Park Home Avenue and Empress Avenue. The station, the system's first and only infill station, opened in 1987 to serve North York City Centre, a high density business district in the Willowdale neighbourhood. Wi-Fi service is available at this station.
