Eureka Shipyard was located on the Hudson River in Newburgh, New York. This shipyard built a number of ships for the United States Navy and Liberty/Cargo ships during World War II. Commercial vessels were also built here.

The East End Historic District in Newburgh, New York, United States is the lower portion of what the state and city recognize as a single historic district along with the Montgomery-Grand-Liberty Streets Historic District. Its 445 acres (2 km²) contain 2,217 buildings, including Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site, a National Historic Landmark. This area includes much of the southeastern quarter of the city. Most of the buildings were constructed during the city's height of industrial development in the later 19th century, as opposed to the villas and mansions in the Montgomery-Grand-Liberty district. They housed many of the city's working-class population at the time, and the small businesses that served them. First recognized by the city in 1973, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. Today, it is a mix of extremes. Some of its neighborhoods are among the city's most desirable, offering panoramic views of the Hudson River's Newburgh Bay and the Hudson Highlands to the south. It is also home to some of the city's poorest neighborhoods, and historic preservation groups have expressed concern about many important properties being lost to urban blight and neglect.

Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site, also called Hasbrouck House, is located in Newburgh, New York overlooking the Hudson River. George Washington lived there while he was in command of the Continental Army during the final year of the American Revolutionary War; it had the longest tenure as his headquarters of any place he had used.In 1961 the house was designated a state historic site. It is also the oldest house in the city of Newburgh, and the first property acquired and preserved by any U.S. state for historic reasons.

Walsh-Havemeyer House, also known as the Plympton House, is a historic home located at New Windsor in Orange County, New York. It was built about 1835 and subsequently expanded and modified. The house consists of a two-story brick main block with two-story brick wing. The interior retains a number of notable Greek Revival treatments dating to the period of original construction. Also on the property is a frame privy and cast-iron fence.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The James Walker Fowler House was a historic house in Newburgh, New York, occupied in the mid-19th century by Judge James Walker Fowler (1820—1905). After Fowler's death, the house passed through two owners before becoming the residence of Captain Thomas S. Marvel, a shipyard owner at the turn of the 20th century. In the 1970s, the house was demolished as part of the city's Urban Renewal efforts.

New Windsor is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of New Windsor in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 8,882 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the larger New York–Newark–Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area.

St. George's Cemetery is a historic cemetery in Newburgh, New York. The cemetery is located in the city's East End Historic District and serves the Episcopal parish of St. George's on Grand Street.

The Ritz Theater is located in the city of Newburgh, New York. The theater is the last remaining historic theater in the city. The building is being restored by a local nonprofit organization.

The New York State Armory was built in 1880 on Broadway in Newburgh, New York, United States. Designed by John A. Wood, it housed a local unit of the New York National Guard. In the 1930s the Guard moved to a newer armory on South William Street and the old building fell vacant and became property of the city. It was nearly gutted by fire in the 1970s but remained standing, an eyesore in Newburgh's Lower Broadway area.In 1981 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places, which helped prevent its demolition. It also became one of over 2,000 contributing properties to the East End Historic District when that was added to the Register four years later. Nothing was done to refurbish it until the late 1990s, when the city sold it to Orange County for a dollar and the county's former courthouse. The county brought in Robert Carchietta's Gemma Development to restore it. The project won the Commissioner's Annual Private Sector Achievement Award from Bernadette Castro, then-commissioner of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. The company spent $28,000 on a mahogany door for the building, which now houses the busy city office of the county's Social Services department, as well as its probation officers and the district attorney.

It serves the 12550 ZIP Code, which covers the city and nearby areas of the Town of Newburgh. There is a branch station located on Broadway in the western neighborhood of the city. The building itself is a two-story brick structure built in the early 1930s. It was designed under the supervision of James Wetmore, supervising architect for the Treasury Department at the time, and takes a Colonial Revival style.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989; it is also a contributing property to the Montgomery-Grand-Liberty Streets Historic District.

The City Club, known also as the William Culbert House, is a historic ruin at the corner of Grand and 2nd Streets in Newburgh, New York. Designed in the early 1850s by Calvert Vaux and Andrew Jackson Downing, the house survived Urban Renewal efforts but succumbed to fire in 1981. Plans have been made since its destruction to reconstruct the interior, a project often paired with restoration of the nearby Dutch Reformed Church, but none have ever been executed. The house appears in Vaux's most celebrated work, Villas and Cottages (1857) as Design No. 22. It is one of the earliest Second Empire houses in the United States, designed just after Detlef Lienau's now lost Hart M. Shiff House (1850) and the earlier Edward Deacon House in Boston's South End. For a brief time in the late 1970s, the former City Club housed the offices of restorer Brian Thompson. Due to its centralized location, it has become a symbol of the restoration movement in Newburgh, also representing the city's decay.
