The Platte River () is a major river in the State of Nebraska. It is about 310 mi (500 km) long; measured to its farthest source via its tributary, the North Platte River, it flows for over 1,050 miles (1,690 km). The Platte River is a tributary of the Missouri River, which itself is a tributary of the Mississippi River which flows to the Gulf of Mexico. The Platte over most of its length is a broad, shallow, meandering stream with a sandy bottom and many islands—a braided stream. The Platte is one of the most significant tributary systems in the watershed of the Missouri, draining a large portion of the central Great Plains in Nebraska and the eastern Rocky Mountains in Colorado and Wyoming. The river valley played an important role in the westward expansion of the United States, providing the route for several major emigrant trails, including the Oregon, California, Mormon and Bozeman trails. The first Europeans to see the Platte were French explorers and fur trappers about 1714; they first called it the Nebraskier (Nebraska), a transliteration of the name given by the Otoe people, meaning "flat water". This expression is very close to the French words "rivière plate" ("flat river"), the probable origin of the name Platte River.

Offutt Air Force Base (IATA: OFF, ICAO: KOFF, FAA LID: OFF) is a U.S. Air Force base south of Omaha, adjacent to Bellevue in Sarpy County, Nebraska. It is the headquarters of the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), the 557th Weather Wing, and the 55th Wing (55 WG) of the Air Combat Command (ACC), the latter serving as the host unit. Aviation use at Offutt began in September 1918 during World War I as an Army Air Service balloon field. Originally named Fort Crook, it was renamed in honor of World War I pilot and Omaha native 1st Lt. Jarvis Offutt in 1924. Offutt AFB's legacy includes the construction of the Enola Gay and Bockscar, the planes that dropped Little Boy and Fat Man over Hiroshima and Nagasaki in World War II. Offutt served over 40 years as the headquarters for the former Strategic Air Command (SAC) and home for its associated ground and aerial command centers for the United States in the case of nuclear war during the Cold War. The population was 8,901 at the 2000 census.

The George E. Dovey House, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska in Cass County, Nebraska, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.Also known as The Heights, it was built for businessman George E. Dovey around 1887. It is Queen Anne in style. Queen Anne features include its "steeply-pitched roof with intersecting, asymmetrical cross gables, multiple variations of spindle work throughout both the interior and exterior, a one-story veranda along the front elevation and wraps around to the side, and a rounded tower on a prominent corner of the house that extends past the roofline." Inside it has its "original hardwood floors, pocket doors, elaborate woodwork, and period-appropriate wallpaper." It was deemed significant as a local example "of a Late Victorian home in the Queen Anne subtype."It was listed along with the Velosco V. Leonard House, also in Plattsmouth.It is located at 423 N 4th St. in Plattsmouth.

The Capt. John O'Rourke House, at 424 N 6th St. in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, was built in 1881. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.It is a two-story Italianate house, upon a full basement. It has a hipped roof with a deck with decorative iron cresting at the top of the roof. It has also been known as the Dugan House.It is also significant for association with Captain John O'Rourke, who was born in Limerick, Ireland in 1834. He served as Captain of the 11th Wisconsin Light Artillery Battery in the American Civil War.A "Captain John O'Rourke day" was declared by the City of Plattsburgh and held for the first time on June 10, 2006.

The Bellevue Bridge (known as the Bellevue Toll Bridge and officially called the Grand Army of the Republic Bridge) is a continuous truss bridge over the Missouri River connecting Mills County, Iowa and Sarpy County, Nebraska at Bellevue, Nebraska. The bridge formerly connected Nebraska Highway 370 and Iowa Highway 370. Both routes were truncated upon the completion of the US 34 bridge downstream. The bridge was built in 1950 by the Bellevue Bridge Commission at a cost of $2.8 million (equivalent to $34.1 million in 2022). The bridge charges $1 tolls for cars and is 20 feet (6.1 m) wide. Although the bridge is considered obsolete, there are no current plans to replace it. Various government entities have sparred over ownership, due to the expense of maintenance, after the initial bonds were paid off in 2000. The issue has been temporarily resolved since the Bridge Commission has had to seek more than $1 million in bonds for repairs to the bridge.

The Velosco V. Leonard House, at 323. N 6th Street in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, was built in 1883 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018. It was listed along with the George E. Dovey House, also in Plattsmouth.It was originally the home of photographer Velosco V. Leonard, whose studio is on the National Register within the Plattsmouth Main Street Historic District. The house was deemed significant "as a fine representation of a Late Victorian home in the Italianate style."

The Fontenelle Bank is a historic building in Bellevue, Nebraska. It was built with bricks in 1856, and the facade was designed in the Greek Revival style, with pilasters, and the Italianate style, with "the elaborate window caps and the elongation of the wall openings." It housed the Fontenelle Bank in 1856–1857, and it was the first Sarpy County Courthouse from 1861 to 1875, followed by Bellevue's town hall until 1959. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since April 16, 1969.

The Cass County Courthouse in Plattsmouth, Nebraska was built in 1891. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.It was designed by architect William Gray. Built of brick, terra cotta, and stone, it is a two-story building, 80 by 102 feet (24 m × 31 m) in plan. It has a tall (135 feet (41 m)) central clock tower, and four corner towers, each with steep hipped roofs and elaborate ornamentation.
