Cedar Park, Philadelphia

St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, founded in 1890, is a Catholic church at 4625 Springfield Avenue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Its cornerstone laid in 1907, the Guastavino tiled dome of the de Sales parish has been an icon in its neighborhood. The de Sales parish was designed by Philadelphia architect Henry D. Dagit, built in the Byzantine Revival style and incorporates a Guastavino tile dome modeled on that of Istanbul's Hagia Sophia and elements of the Arts and Crafts movement which was at its peak when the church was built.

The flamboyant Hanson Haines House, sometimes known simply as the Castle, is a residence at 4801 Springfield Avenue in the Spruce Hill neighborhood of West Philadelphia. The house was built in 1902-03 for Quaker banker Hanson Haines by Quaker architect Charles Balderston in a German Medieval Revival style on the exterior and in a Colonial Revival style in the interior. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Calvary United Methodist Church is located at 801 48th Street, on the southeast corner of 48th Street & Baltimore Avenue, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The church was founded in 1896 as Calvary Methodist Episcopal and the current structure was completed in 1906.Calvary United Methodist Church rents space in its building to a number of churches and community groups. The church also is home to "Calvary Center for Culture and Community" (CCCC), an affiliated non-profit organization that raises funds for building restoration and facilitates use by community groups. Calvary UMC is a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network, a movement within the United Methodist Church to formally and intentionally welcome LGBT persons to full inclusion in the life of the church. The congregation made this declaration in 1985, shortly after the network's formation.

49th Street station is a SEPTA Regional Rail station in Philadelphia. It is located at 1104 South 49th Street in the Kingsessing section of Southwest Philadelphia, and serves the Media/Wawa Line. In 2013, this station saw 62 boardings and 52 alightings on an average weekday.The station is a sheltered shed that sits on one platform; the other platform has a ramp to the Chester Avenue bridge. The station is handicapped-accessible. Chester Avenue carries the SEPTA Route 13 trolley, which is part of the Subway-Surface Trolley system. The trolleys use an alternate track embedded in 49th Street when the tunnels are closed. 49th Street station is also served by SEPTA bus route 64 which serves 50th and Parkside Avenue going north and Pier 70 Shopping Plaza going south. The Media/Wawa line was originally the main line of the West Chester and Philadelphia Railroad, laid in 1852-53. There has been a station at this location since at least 1886, when the line was owned by the Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad.

Squirrel Hill is a neighborhood in West Philadelphia, south of Baltimore Ave and west of Clark Park. It shares a border with the Spruce Hill and Cedar Park neighborhoods. By some accounts, this neighborhood is within the boundaries of the University City district.

The Belmont Cricket Club was one of four chief cricket clubs in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, that played from its 1874 founding in West Philadelphia until its disbanding in 1914. Bart King, arguably America's greatest cricketer during its 1890-1914 golden age, played for Belmont from 1893 to 1913. Another famous American cricketer, English-born Cecil Hurditch, played for Belmont in 1912 after he returned from playing for the Santa Monica Cricket Club in southern California. In 1913, Hurditch introduced soccer to the club members.

The West Philadelphia Streetcar Suburb Historic District is an area of West Philadelphia listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It represented the transformation of Philadelphia's rural farmland into urban residential development, made possible by the streetcar, which provided easy access to Center City. This is an early example of the streetcar suburb. Development had proceeded during the 19th century to about 43rd Street. The arrival of electrified streetcars in 1892 accelerated development to the west and southwest.Noted Philadelphia church architect Isaac Pursell (1853-1910) designed the contributing Christ Memorial Church (1887) at 4233-4257 Chestnut Street.

Satterlee General Hospital was the largest Union Army hospital during the American Civil War. Operating from 1862 to 1865 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, its physicians and nurses rendered care to thousands of Union soldiers and Confederate prisoners. After its patient population spiked following the battles of Bull Run and Gettysburg, this hospital became the second-largest in the country with 34 wards and hundreds of tents containing 4,500 beds.Initially referred to as the West Philadelphia General Hospital, it was later renamed in honor of Richard Sherwood Satterlee, a physician from Seneca County, New York, who was stationed with the United States Army at Fort Winnebago in Portage, Wisconsin, during the Black Hawk War, and then rose to prominence and was brevetted as a lieutenant colonel, colonel, and brigadier general during America's Civil War "for diligent care and attention in procuring proper army supplies, as Medical Purveyor, and for economy and fidelity in the disbursement of large sums of money."

Garden Court is a neighborhood in the West Philadelphia section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is located west of Spruce Hill, north of Cedar Park, east of Cobbs Creek, and south of Walnut Hill. In the 1920s, The Philadelphia Inquirer called Garden Court "the most exclusive location in West Philadelphia." Garden Court was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 5, 1984. The neighborhood contains a diverse mix of housing types, including the 116-unit Garden Court Condominiums. It is a racially mixed neighborhood. Income and property values are greater than those of West Philadelphia as a whole.The neighborhood is mostly residential, but contains small rows of shops around the intersections of 48th and Spruce, and 47th and Pine. Pinehurst Apartments, also known as Pine Street Place and Pine Terrace, is a historic apartment complex located in the Spruce Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1914, and consists of two 3 1/2-story, reinforced concrete buildings faced in brick and granite. The buildings feature colonnaded porches with Corinthian order columns.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Clark Park is a municipal park in the Spruce Hill section of West Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its 9.1 acres (3.7 ha) are bordered by 43rd and 45th streets, and by Baltimore and Woodland Avenues. The park was established in 1895 on land donated to the city by banker and West Philadelphia developer Clarence Howard Clark, and was known in its early decades as "Clarence H. Clark Park".Today, the park has a basketball court, playground, an open field, and many paths. It holds a life-sized 1890 sculpture of Charles Dickens, one of just two known statues of the author. It is home to the Shakespeare in Clark Park theatre company.The park also hosts Philadelphia's largest year-round farmers' market, which runs once or twice a week, depending on the season.

Regent-Rennoc Court is a historic apartment complex located in the Southwest Schuylkill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The complex consists of nine buildings built in 1910, in the Renaissance Revival-style. They are large, six-unit buildings arranged in groups of three on either side of Regent Street. They are three-story buildings, constructed of brick and sit on Wissahickon schist foundations. They feature projecting arched center entrances and multiple porch levels.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
