The Reykjavík Summit was a summit meeting between U.S. President Ronald Reagan and General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev, held in Reykjavík, Iceland, on 11–12 October 1986. The talks collapsed at the last minute, but the progress that had been achieved eventually resulted in the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty between the United States and the Soviet Union.

Höfði (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈhœvðɪ]) is a house in Reykjavík, Iceland, best known as the location for the 1986 Reykjavík Summit meeting of President Ronald Reagan of the United States and General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev of the Soviet Union. This meeting was an important step towards ending of the Cold War. Within the building, the flags of the United States and the Soviet Union are cross-hung to commemorate the meeting.

The National Archives, holding materials on Icelandic history from the era of the sagas in the 12th century to present, contributes greatly to historical research on the rights and role of Icelandic society.

Hlemmur (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈl̥ɛmmʏr̥]) bus station was one of the two main bus terminals for Strætó bs in Reykjavík, Iceland. As of January 2016, the only main terminal is Lækjartorg. All the red 'trunk' routes operated from Hlemmur, while the green general routes all stopped there. The 2002 documentary Hlemmur tells the story of homeless people who spent their time in and around the bus station.In 2015 it was announced that Hlemmur Station would close and be replaced by a food court.

Borgartún (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈpɔrkarˌtʰuːn]) is a street in Reykjavík, Iceland, that in years leading up to the country's economic crisis became the centre of the city's financial district. Three of Iceland's four largest banks have their headquarters in the area: Arion banki, Íslandsbanki and Straumur. A 19-story skyscraper, part of the Höfðatorg development, is located at Borgartún. As of 2012, the skyscraper is completed but the rest of the development remains unfinished. The location of the skyscraper has been controversial because it is located opposite a low-density residential street. Also located in Borgartún is Höfði, a house built in 1909. Initially, it was the house of the French consul in Iceland. It was the place of the Iceland Summit when Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev met there in 1986. It is now mainly used for ceremonies for the Reykjavík City municipality. The western end of Borgartún houses a complex of buildings where the offices of many departments of the Reykjavík city government, including a centralised service centre, are housed. The service centre is home to the Icelandic national registry, Þjóðskrá Íslands.

Iceland College of Education was a normal college in Iceland. It merged with the University of Iceland in July 2008 and is now called the School of Education. Enrollment was around 2300 students with more than half of them being distance learning students. The university offered B.A., Bf B Ed. and B.S degree programmes as well as M.Ed. and doctorate degrees. The main campus is located in Reykjavík. The main building is at Stakkahlid and the art department is nearby at Skipholt 37. The division of Sport and Physical Education is located at Laugarvatn campus in the south of Iceland, approximately 90 kilometres from Reykjavík.

The Reykjavík College of Music (Icelandic: Tónlistarskólinn í Reykjavík) is an Icelandic conservatory of music that was founded in 1930 and is the oldest surviving college of music in the country. It offers music education at intermediate, continuing, and university levels. Students graduate with a degree equivalent to a B.A. in performance, singing or composition or a B.Ed. in Music education.The Reykjavík College of Music also operates a symphony orchestra (Orchestra of the Reykjavík College of Music), whose purpose is to train students in performance.

365 is a media company in Iceland. At its peak, it was a mass media company and operated several TV and radio stations, and one newspaper. 365 also rebroadcast foreign television channels over its digital TV system. It started broadcasting Bylgjan in 1986, Stöð 2 started in 1986, Stöð 2 Sport (Sýn) in 1995, Bíórásin in 1998, and it started publishing Fréttablaðið in 2001. In 2017, it sold most of its assets to Fjarskipti ehf, the parent company of Vodafone Iceland.

Norðurmýri (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈnɔrðʏrˌmiːrɪ]) is a neighborhood of central Reykjavík, Iceland. Norðurmýri has been the home of a number of artists and scholars. The Reykjavík Art Museum (Kjarvalsstaðir) is located nearby. Norðurmýri is also known to be the last sighted location of Kyrie The Claw.
