Mulkear River

Castletroy (Irish: Caladh an Treoigh, meaning O'Troy's Landing or O'Troy's Callow) is a suburb of Limerick, Ireland. The town was named after Castle Troy also known as the Black Castle, which is located on the southern bank of the River Shannon, roughly 2km east of the University of Limerick. However the name likely predates the castle itself as the area may have been used by the O’Turrain clan (who were no longer in the area by the time the castle was built) having used it as a safe harbour for navigating the river.

Annacotty (Irish: Áth an Choite, meaning 'the ford of the small boat') is a suburban town on the outskirts of Limerick, Ireland, 7 km (4 mi) from the centre of the city. It is situated where the old N7 main road between Limerick and Dublin crosses the Mulkear River, 1 km (0.6 mi) upstream of where it flows into the River Shannon.

The Living Bridge (Irish: An Droichead Beo) is a pedestrian bridge across the River Shannon linking the University of Limerick’s premises in County Limerick and County Clare. The bridge was designed by Arup Engineers & Wilkinson Eyre Architects to provide social and cultural space to encourage pedestrians to rest a while as they cross along the gently curved structure. At this point on the Shannon it is wide and shallow with many wooded islands which provide varied views and support for the piers. The deck is supported by two underslung catenary cables. Financed through a Public-private partnership, construction was undertaken by Eiffel Constructions Metalliques and completed in November 2007 at a cost of €12 million. At 350 metres it is the longest pedestrian bridge in Ireland.

The University of Limerick (UL) (Irish: Ollscoil Luimnigh) is a public research university institution in Limerick, Ireland. Founded in 1972 as the National Institute for Higher Education, Limerick, it became a university in 1989 in accordance with the University of Limerick Act 1989. It was the first university established since Irish independence in 1922, followed by the establishment of Dublin City University later the same day. UL's campus lies along both sides of the River Shannon, on a 137.5-hectare (340-acre) site with 46 hectares (110 acres) on the north bank and 91.5 hectares (226 acres) on the south bank at Plassey, County Limerick, 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from the city centre. It has over 11,000 full-time undergraduate students, including over 2,400 international students, and 1,500 part-time students. There are over 800 research postgraduates and 1,300 postgraduate students receiving instruction at the university. Its co-operative education ("co-op") programme offers students an up to eight-month work placement as part of their degree; it was Ireland's first such programme. Following founding president Edward M. Walsh, Roger GH Downer, John O'Connor, Don Barry and Des Fitzgerald were presidents of UL from 1998 to August 2020. The current president is Professor Kerstin Mey.

Ahane GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the Ahane, Castleconnell and Montpelier areas of east County Limerick, Republic of Ireland. The club fields teams in both hurling and football and historically is regarded as one of the great clubs of Limerick. Some other class players were the Mackey brothers, Mick and John and Jackie Power among others. In their day, they defeated all-comers in Limerick and in the adjoining counties of Tipperary and Cork whose clubs they successfully challenged in many church tournaments during their greatest period of domination. A few of the Ahane players won the All-Ireland Senior hurling championship in 1934, 1936 and 1940 with Limerick, their leader being the peerless Mick Mackey, regarded as one of Ireland's greatest hurlers of all time. They won 15 Limerick Senior Hurling Championships in the 1930s and 1940s and also won 5 Limerick Senior Football Championships during this era. Their fans can often be heard to use the famous cheer "Come on Ahane the spuds are boiling"

Clonlara is a Catholic parish in County Clare in Ireland. It is part of the Scáth na Sionnaine grouping of parishes within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Killaloe. The parish is an amalgamation of the medieval parish Kiltenanlea (also known as Doonass) and parts of the parishes of Truagh and Kilseily.

Castleconnell railway station, opened on 8 August 1858 on the Great Southern and Western Railway line, serves the town of Castleconnell in County Limerick, Ireland. It is on the Limerick–Ballybrophy railway line and is also served by a skeleton service on the Limerick to Nenagh Commuter Service. It is unstaffed and has a small car park
