Lozoya (river)

Uceda is a municipality located in the province of Guadalajara, Castile-La Mancha, Spain. According to the 2004 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 1,575 inhabitants. The church of Santa María de la Varga stands in the town.

It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1991.Built atop a former mosque, the church was erected in a Romanesque style in the 13th century by the Archbishop of Toledo, D. Rodrigo Jiménez de Rada.

El Atazar Dam is an arch dam built near Madrid, Spain on the Lozoya River, very close to where the Lozoya joins the Jarama. The curved design of the dam is optimum for the narrow gorge in which it was built to retain water in the reservoir. Arch dams are thin and require less material to construct than other dam types.When the dam was built, the decision was made to use the dam to store and regulate water only and not to provide energy. Construction started on the dam in 1968 and finished in 1972.

The Church of la Magdalena (Spanish: Iglesia de la Magdalena) is a Gothic-style church located in Torrelaguna, central Spain. It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1983. It has a nave and two aisles, with Gothic vaults supported by flying buttresses between which are the side chapels, each with movable retablos. The bell tower dates to the 15th century, and was commissioned by Cardinal Cisneros, whose coat of arms, together with those of the town, can be seen externally on the third floor. The so-called "Portal of the Resurrection" (16th century) is in mixed Mudéjar–Renaissance style. The high altar is by Narciso Tomé.
