Birmingham–Southern College

Bill Battle Coliseum is a 2,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Birmingham, Alabama. The arena opened in 1981 and is home to the Birmingham-Southern College Panthers basketball team. The arena will be the venue for karate, jujitsu, and wushu taolu (invitational) during the 2022 World Games (previously scheduled for 2021).

General Charles C. Krulak Stadium is located in Birmingham, Alabama, and serves as the home stadium for the Birmingham–Southern Panthers football, lacrosse, cross country, and track and field teams. The stadium has a maximum seating capacity of 1,600, and opened for the homecoming football game against Sewanee on November 8, 2008. The 49-0 Panthers victory saw an overflow crowd of 3,575 in attendance.Panther Stadium serves as a replacement for the Munger Bowl, which was located on-campus and subsequently demolished in the 1960s to make way for campus expansion.

The Southern Environmental Center is an environmental educational facility located on the campus of Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama. Each year, hundreds of school children tour the facility's Interactive Museum and EcoScape.

Legion Field is an outdoor stadium in the southeastern United States in Birmingham, Alabama, primarily designed to be used as a venue for American football, but occasionally used for other large outdoor events. Opened in 1927, it is named in honor of the American Legion, a U.S. organization of military veterans. Since the removal of the upper deck in 2004, Legion Field has a seating capacity of approximately 71,594. At its peak, it seated 83,091 for football and had the name "Football Capital of the South" emblazoned from the facade on its upper deck. Legion Field is colloquially called "The Old Gray Lady" and "The Gray Lady on Graymont".

Graymont Elementary School was first opened in 1908 as a part of the then independent town of Graymont, in Jefferson County, Alabama. It taught elementary students from the local community for 81 years. Graymont Elementary was the first school in the Birmingham system to be integrated. It was constructed in a classical style by William Spink. It later became part of the Birmingham City Schools system. Located at 300 8th Avenue West in what is now the Smithfield neighborhood, it was closed in 1989, after it was determined that the school was redundant to Hill Elementary School nearby.In the mid 1990s, the vacant former school was restored and adapted for the offices of the Jefferson County Committee for Economic Opportunity (JCCEO), which operates federally-funded social programs such as pre-kindergarten, adult day care, substance abuse, nutrition, utility assistance, job training, residential weatherization, and family counseling. JCCEO also operates the Arrington Head Start Center, home of Alabama's first public pre-K classroom, from here. In 2007 Graymont Elementary School was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

First Baptist Church, East Thomas is a historic church at 419 11th Court West in Birmingham, Alabama. It was built in 1939 in a Gothic Revival style and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Rickwood Field, located in Birmingham, Alabama, is the oldest professional baseball park in the United States. It was built for the Birmingham Barons in 1910 by industrialist and team-owner Rick Woodward and has served as the home park for the Birmingham Barons and the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro leagues. Though the Barons moved their home games to the Hoover Met in the suburbs, and most recently to Regions Field in Birmingham, Rickwood Field has been preserved and is undergoing gradual restoration as a "working museum" where baseball's history can be experienced. The Barons also play one regular season game a year at Rickwood Field. Rickwood Field is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Elyton (Ely's Town), Alabama, was the county seat of Jefferson County, Alabama from 1821 to 1873. It was the county's second seat, after Carrollsville (1819-1821) (now the Birmingham neighborhood of Powderly). In 1873 the courthouse was moved to Birmingham. The area that was Elyton is currently bordered by 7th Street Southwest and Cotton Avenue in the West End of Birmingham.Elyton was incorporated as a town December 20, 1820. It was created to be the county seat with a 160-acre (0.65 km2) grant negotiated by federal land agent William Ely, of Connecticut. The new town was named in his honor. The site was previously called Frog Level, and was known primarily as a sporting grounds for horse races.In 1821 Elyton had 300 residents, and grew to over 1,000 by 1873. Elyton was listed on the 1880 U.S. Census as having a population of 700. During this time Elyton was an important community in middle Alabama. It was the residence of U.S. Representative Thomas Haughey (1868–69) and the headquarters of the Elyton Presbytery (formed in 1832).In 1853 merchant John Cantley established the Elyton Herald after purchasing the Washington hand press and type from Moses Lancaster after his newspaper, the Central Alabamian, ceased publication. After many ownerships, mergers and name changes the paper became the Birmingham Post-Herald in 1950. The community was incorporated as a municipality in 1907, but was annexed into Birmingham as part of the Greater Birmingham legislation which took effect on January 1, 1910. Frank W. Smith was the first and only mayor of Elyton. The Board of Aldermen was composed of Ollis Brown, Van Smith, C. M. Bitz, T. T. Alley, and W. M. Marriner. The name Elyton is still used to refer to this area of Birmingham.

Arlington Antebellum Home & Gardens, or Arlington Historic House, is a former plantation house and 6 acres (24,000 m2) of landscaped gardens near downtown Birmingham, Alabama. The two-story frame structure was built between 1845–50 and features antebellum-era Greek Revival architecture. The house serves as a decorative arts museum, featuring a collection of 19th-century furniture, textiles, silver, and paintings. The garden features a restored garden room that is used for special events. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 2, 1970, as Arlington, and has also been known as the Mudd-Munger House.

The West End Masonic Temple is a Masonic building in Birmingham, Alabama. It was constructed in 1926. The temple served the masonic community until 1985, when it was sold and converted to office space. The building was destroyed in a fire on New Years Day, 1996.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, and in 2009, despite being gone for many years, was still listed.

Arlington Park in Birmingham, Alabama, also known as Arlington-West End Historic District, is a historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1926. The listing included 68 contributing buildings on about 50 acres (20 ha). The contributing buildings were all built during 1920 to 1929.The district is L-shaped and includes 800-840 First St. W., 815-909 Second St. W. and 100-269 Munger Ave. It is adjacent to Birmingham's only antebellum farmhouse, the Mudd-Munger House, also known as "Arlington", and is on lands formerly part of that farm/estate. It is bounded "on the southeast by the tracks of the Southern (now Norfolk-Southern) Railroad, on the west by Fourth Street (earlier Montevallo Road), on the north by Cotton Avenue, and on the east by the alley between First and Center Streets West. Interior boundaries are formed by McMillon Avenue and Second Street that border the Arlington House's grounds."It includes a work by architects Miller, Martin & Lewis, the Munger-Barr House, at 815 Second Street, built in 1920. It is a two-and-a-halfstorey English or Tudor-influenced house, butilt for Robley Charles Munger.It includes a stucco-over-concrete block house built as a demonstration house by the Lehigh Portland Cement Company.

The Dr. A.M. Brown House is a house in Birmingham, Alabama, built c. 1908. It was designed by W.A. Rayfield, one of the first African-American architects in Alabama for Dr. Arthur McKinnon Brown, one of the first African-American physicians in Birmingham.The house is a 1+1⁄2-story bungalow-style building with a deep porch across the front and sides supported by rusticated concrete block pillars. The ground floor walls are constructed in a similar fashion. A broad front dormer has a balcony projecting forward with a small pediment over the entrance.The Brown House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 20, 1974.
