The Hutchins State Jail is a state prison for men located in Hutchins, a city in Dallas County, Texas, with a Dallas postal address. It is a part of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The state jail serves mixed security levels, with an official capacity of 2,276.

Wilmer-Hutchins High School (nicknamed "The Hutch") is a public secondary school in Dallas, Texas (USA). A part of the Dallas Independent School District, Wilmer-Hutchins High was formerly part of the now defunct Wilmer-Hutchins Independent School District. Located at 5520 Langdon Road in far south Dallas, the 9-12 campus serves portions of Dallas, most of Hutchins, Wilmer, a small portion of Lancaster, as well as unincorporated areas in southeastern Dallas County.

Paul Quinn College (PQC) is a private historically black Methodist college in Dallas, Texas. The college is affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME). It is the oldest historically black college west of the Mississippi River and the nation's first urban work college.Paul Quinn is home to the WE over ME Farm, which was created through a partnership with PepsiCo to bring healthy food to the food desert of Dallas.

Wilmer is a city in Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,682 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Bishop College was a historically black college, founded in Marshall, Texas, United States, in 1881 by the Baptist Home Mission Society. It was intended to serve students in east Texas, where the majority of the black population lived at the time. In 1961 the administration moved the college into Dallas, Texas. It closed in 1988. In 2006 the president of Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky reached out to Bishop College alumni, proposing to have them "adopt" his college as an alma mater. He offered scholarships to their descendants, with a chance to have their diploma read "Bishop College". This was part of an effort to increase minority enrollment at Georgetown.

Dallas College Cedar Valley Campus (Cedar Valley or CVC) is a public community college in Lancaster, Texas. It opened in 1977 and has an enrollment of more than 6,000 students. It is part of Dallas College. Beginning in the spring of 2004, Cedar Valley College began operating the Cedar Valley College Center at Cedar Hill. The extension center, located in Cedar Hill, Texas, will assist the district's continuing education program featuring classes on computer software, dance, English as a second language, health and wellness, writing résumés and CPA accreditation. For the 2008-09 school year, Cedar Valley began a joint dual credit enrollment project with the Dallas Independent School District and the Cedar Hill Independent School District by opening two early college high school campuses, one in Dallas and one in Cedar Hill. The new Dallas school is named Early College High School and provides the opportunity for its graduates to accomplish a high-school diploma and 60 hours of college credit concurrently. Like most early college high school programs, the school was designed to attract students who do not typically enroll in traditional dual-credit programs, such students whose parents did not attend college and those that might feel a college education is not financially possible. The new Cedar Hill school is named Cedar Hill Collegiate High School, and attracts students who are seeking 60 college credit hours upon graduating high school. The school is open to students of all backgrounds; however, the staff worked particularly hard to recruit black and Latino males, who are the least likely to earn college degrees.

Formerly Lancaster Airport, the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 categorized it as a general aviation reliever airport.Most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, but this airport is LNC to the FAA and has no IATA code. (IATA assigned LNC to Lengbati Airport in Lengbati, Papua New Guinea).

Trinity Forest Golf Club is an 18-hole private golf club in the southern United States, located in Dallas, Texas.Southeast of downtown Dallas, the club was founded in 2014 and the course opened for play in autumn 2016. Built on a former landfill, the treeless links-style course was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw and features diversely architectured holes over undulating terrain.Trinity Forest became the host course for the AT&T Byron Nelson on the PGA Tour in 2018, held in May. However, after years of declining revenue, along with other issues such as lack of entertainment and dining options in the area, the PGA Tour removed it from the 2020 schedule and moved the event to the TPC Craig Ranch when the event was revived for 2021. It is also the home of the SMU Mustangs men's and women's college golf teams.

The W. A. Strain Farm–Strain House is a farmstead located in Lancaster, Texas, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the W. A. Strain House in 1978. A boundary increase in 2001 expanded the area covered from 2 acres to 163 acres and the property listing name was changed to W. A. Strain Farm–Strain House. The Strain House is an example of late Victorian architecture. It was designed by J. E. Flanders & Moad of Dallas. This firm also designed the Trinity Methodist Church in Dallas, and the Shackelford County Courthouse, which is part of an historic district in Albany, Texas. Joe Lyon built the house in 1896. The 2+1⁄2-story frame structure includes a gabled wood-shingle roof, and the brick foundation has an asymmetrical plan. The Strain Farm is believed to be the oldest working farm in Dallas County and is one of a small number of farms owned and operated for more than 100 years by a single family. The heirs of W. A. Strain have continued to live in the old family home, maintaining it with very few alterations and much of the original furnishings still intact.
