The Bishop's Chapel (Spanish: Capilla del Obispo de Madrid) is a chapel, located in Madrid, Spain, which was built in the 16th century. It is named after Gutierre de Vargas Carvajal, Bishop of Plasencia, who is buried there. The chapel is adjacent to the Church of San Andrés and was intended to hold the remains of San Isidro, patron saint of Madrid, who was initially buried at this site. When the saint's body was discovered in the late 13th century, two centuries after his death, King Alfonso XI ordered the construction in San Andres of an ark to hold his remains and a chapel in which to venerate his memory. In the 18th century, San Isidro's remains were relocated to the Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Buen Consejo.

The Church de San Andrés (Spanish: Iglesia de San Andrés) is a church in Madrid, Spain. It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1995.It was built using the ruins that had a previous church in the same place. The primitive church in turn was previously occupied by a mosque located next to the albarrana tower in what was later the Palacio de Laso de Castilla, residence of the Catholic Monarchs and Cardinal Cisneros when they were in Madrid. The previous church had been frequented as a parish church by the patron saint of Madrid, St. Isidore the Laborer, and his wife Santa María de la Cabeza, who lived nearby. The adjacent chapel of San Isidro was built at the site of the saint's house. Its construction began in 1657, after the saint was canonized in 1622. Further reconstructions were performed in 1663 and 1669, and later in 1783 and 1789. The initial construction in Baroque style was fashioned by José de Villarreal, and later Pedro de la Torre and Juan de Lobera. Much of the internal decoration, including paintings, was destroyed at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War by the Communist and Socialist forces.

A car bombing was carried out by the armed Basque separatist group ETA in Madrid, Spain on 6 February 1992, killing 5 people and injured a further 7. The target was a military vehicle transporting members of the army. The dead included three captains, a soldier driving the vehicle and a civilian working for the armed forces. This was ETA's deadliest attack of 1992.

The Royal Academy of Engineering (Spanish: Real Academia de Ingeniería, RAI) is Spanish institution whose purpose is to promote works and studies that reflect scientific progress in the field of engineering, its technological applications and its operational techniques. Its current president is Jaime Domínguez Abascal, since 2023.

The Iglesia del Sacramento (English for: Church of the Sacrament ) is a 17th-century, Baroque-style, Roman Catholic church located in Madrid, Spain. Since 1980 is the Military Cathedral of Spain (Catedral de las Fuerzas Armadas) and the seat of the Military Archbishop of Spain. It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1982.

The Church of San Pedro el Real (St Peter the Royal), also known as San Pedro el Viejo is a small medieval church in central Madrid, Spain. The initial structure was built in the 14th century, but extensive renovations were performed, and a new facade and portals added in the 17th and 19th centuries. It may have begun as Benedictine monastery, although the Bell-tower has Mudéjar qualities, and resembles a minaret; however, present tower seems to have been worked on in the 14th century when Madrid was firmly in Castilian hands. It was originally built by King Alfonso XI to celebrate his victory in the Battle of Algeciras in 1344. The church contains the tombs of Kings Alfonso I of Asturias and Ramiro II of León. San Pedro also contains the statue of Jesus known as Jesús el Pobre, or Jesus the Poor, sculpted by Juan Astorga in the late eighteenth century. The church is located at Calle Nuncio, 14, near the Plaza Mayor.

The Council of State (Spanish: Consejo de Estado), is the supreme consultative council of the Spanish Government. The current Council of State was established in 1980 according to the article 107 of the Constitution of 1978. The institution of the Council of State, understood as supreme consultative council of the Government, has existed intermittently since 1812. During the Ancien Régime, the Council of State advised the King about foreign policy.

The Palace of the Councils or Palace of the Duke of Uceda (in Spanish, Palacio de los Consejos or Palacio del duque de Uceda) is a building from the 17th century located in central Madrid, Spain. It is located on the Calle Mayor, corner of calle Bailén Street. The palace is representative of Spanish baroque architecture, and was commissioned by Cristóbal Gómez de Sandoval-Rojas, first Duke of Uceda, and powerful prime minister or valido of King Philip III of Spain. It was designed by Francisco de Mora, although works was directed by Juan Gómez de Mora and executed by Captain Alonso Turrillo from 1608 to 1613. The palace stands before the Church of Santa María de la Almudena. When it was built, decorated with the heraldic arms of the Sandoval family flanked by lions, it was judged too ostentatious for a nobleman. After the Duke's fall from grace, it became property of the Royal family, and housed the mother of Charles II of Spain, the queen mother, Mariana of Austria. She died there on the night of May 16, 1696. Upon his arrival to Madrid in 1701, the Bourbon king Philip V of Spain transferred many of the royal offices or councils from the then extant Real Alcázar of Madrid to the Palacio de Uceda, and since then, it has been known as the Palacio de los Consejos. The main council, however, remained in the palace. In the 19th century, the council of state and the Capitanía General were moved here.

Palacio is an administrative ward (barrio) of Madrid, Spain belonging to the district of Centro. It contains the historic neighborhoods of La Latina and El Madrid de los Austrias.

The Casa Cisneros is a palace located on the Plaza de la Villa in Madrid, Spain. Built in Plateresque style in 1537, at the request of Benito Jiménez de Cisneros, a 16th-century architect and nephew of Cardinal Cisneros (statesman and whose founder of founded the Complutense University), in honor it is named.

The Casa de la Villa is a building located in Madrid, Spain. It served as city hall from the 17th to the 21st century. It lies at the Plaza de la Villa, near the Calle Mayor. Following the demolition of some housing that had served as provisional headquarters of the City Council (prior to that, the city council convened at the Church of San Salvador, located nearby), the project for the new building was commissioned in 1629 to Juan Gómez de Mora. Following the death of the latter, José de Villarreal, Teodoro de Ardemans and José del Olmo assumed the direction of the building works. Besides its role as city hall, the building was also intended to be used as municipal prison, replacing the old Cárcel de la Villa. The works finished in 1692.Following the refurbishment of the Palacio de Comunicaciones and the move of the municipal premises to the former (a process finished in 2011), the Casa de la Villa was left with little use. It currently houses some offices of the different municipal groups represented at the Plenary and it is used for official receptions. Despite having a report for its declaration as historic-artistic monument initiated in 1977, the building has yet to be declared Bien de Interés Cultural.

The Monument to Álvaro de Bazán is an instance of public art in Madrid, Spain. Located at the Plaza de la Villa, it consists of a bronze sculpture designed by Mariano Benlliure representing Álvaro de Bazán—a noted 16th century Admiral of the Spanish Navy once described by Cervantes as "father of soldiers, lightning of war, fortunate and never defeated captain"— put on top of a stone pedestal.
