New Providence is an unincorporated community and Village in Providence Township in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. New Providence is located at the intersection of Main Street and Pennsy Road, southwest of the Big Beaver Creek and U.S. Route 222 and northwest of Quarryville.

Mechanics Grove is an unincorporated community located within East Drumore Township in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. Mechanics Grove is located along U.S. Route 222, south of the town of Quarryville.

Solanco School District is a large, rural public school district located in the southern end of Lancaster County (SoLanCo - Southern Lancaster County), Pennsylvania. Solanco School District encompasses approximately 180 square miles (470 km2). Solanco School District serves: Providence Township, Eden Township, Quarryville Borough, Little Britain Township, Bart Township, Colerain Township, Drumore Township, East Drumore Township and Fulton Township. According to 2008 local census data, it served a resident population of 30,566. By 2010, the district's population increased to 31,871 people. In 2009, the district residents’ per capita income was $17,040, while the median family income was $49,432. In the Commonwealth, the median family income was $49,501 and the United States median family income was $49,445, in 2010.The district operates seven schools: four elementary, two middle/junior high, one high school and a virtual academy (K-12). WDAC (94.5 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, known as "Hope 94.5." It is owned by the WDAC Radio Company and broadcasts a Christian radio format. Christian Adult Contemporary music is heard in morning drive time and late evenings. Other hours feature Christian talk and teaching shows from David Jeremiah, Jim Daly, Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth, Alistair Begg, Chuck Swindoll and others. WDAC's radio studios and transmitter are on Lancaster Pike in New Providence. WDAC has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 19,000 watts. It broadcasts using HD Radio technology. Its HD2 digital subchannel has a Christian radio format with the slogan "HOPE Music for the Heart!"

Bart Township is a township in southeastern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 3,181, up from 3,094 at the 2010 census. According to the 2020 "ACS 5-Year Estimates Data Profiles", 43.7% of the township's population spoke only English, while 56.3 spoke an "other [than Spanish] Indo-European language" (basically Pennsylvania German/German).

Drumore Township is a township in southwestern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 2,568.It is named after Dromore (Irish: Droim Mór), County Down, now in Northern Ireland, with which it has been twinned since 1996.

Pennsylvania Railroad 6755 is a 4-8-2 "Mountain" type steam locomotive built in 1930 for the Pennsylvania Railroad by the railroad's own Altoona Works as a member of the M1b locomotive class for mainline freight service. Retired from commercial service in 1957, the locomotive was preserved by the Pennsylvania Railroad and was placed on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, Pennsylvania. The 6755 is the only M1 class locomotive to have survived into preservation.

Pennsylvania Railroad 520 is a 2-8-2 "Mikado" type steam locomotive built in 1916 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works for the Pennsylvania Railroad for freight duties as a member of the L1s class. In 1942, the locomotive was involved in a devastating boiler explosion incident that required construction of a new, replacement boiler. After being retired in 1957, the locomotive was saved for preservation and placed on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Pennsylvania Railroad's class H8, H9s and H10s steam locomotives were of the 2-8-0 "Consolidation" type, the last three classes of such built by the railroad. The three classes differed only in cylinder diameter and thus tractive effort, each subsequent class increasing that measurement by an inch. The first H8 was built in 1907 and the last H10 in 1916; within a few years they were replaced on heavy freight assignments by 2-8-2s and 2-10-0. They became the railroad's standard light freight locomotive, replacing all other class H 2-8-0s, and a number remained in service until the end of PRR steam locomotive operation in 1957. 968 class H8 of various subclasses were constructed, along with 274 class H9s and 273 class H10s. A number of H8 locomotives were rebuilt to H9s specification. Class H10s was built primarily for PRR Lines West, and featured a typical Lines West tender with sloping side coal boards at the top, to enable a bigger load of coal to be carried. Some locomotives of this type were leased to the PRR-owned Long Island Rail Road, becoming the primary freight-hauling type on that system.

The Pennsylvania Railroad's class H6, H6a, and H6b steam locomotives were of the 2-8-0 "Consolidation" freight type, the most numerous class on the railroad with 1,707 units and the second most prolific 2-8-0 class in North America, with the USATC S160 class rostering 88 units more. The three subclasses differed as follows: In the 1920s, 699 H6a and H6b had superheaters added, and cylinder size increased from 22 in (560 mm) to 23 in (580 mm). These rebuilt units were reclassified to H6sa and H6sb. Class H6 were used throughout the system as mainline freight haulers, on local freights, and as switchers in yards. They were frequently seen double- and tripleheading long freight trains up the steep grades on the Pennsy.During the period when the PRR was building the H-6 class, the railroad had effective stock control of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, and installed a PRR vice-president Leonor F. Loree, as president of the B&O. Subsequently, the B&O bought a large group of identical locomotives from the American Locomotive Company; these were initially classified class I-4, later becoming class E-24. The E-24 class had many variations, some being converted to switchers, or receiving superheaters and new valve chests. The E-24a was equivalent to the PRR H-6sb. None of the B&O E-24 class survived to the diesel era.
