Bowmanville High School (also known as BHS) is a public secondary school located in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, within the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. The school includes Grades 9 – 12, and offers a French Immersion program. The principal at Bowmanville High School is David Boone. The current location was established in 1971, and opened to students in September 1972.

Bowmanville is a town of approximately 40,000 people located in the Municipality of Clarington, Durham Region, Ontario, Canada. It is approximately 75 km (47 mi) east of Toronto, and 15 km (9.3 mi) east of Oshawa along Highway 2. Bowmanville was first incorporated as a town in 1858, but later incorporated with the neighbouring townships of Clarke and Darlington in 1974 forming the Town of Newcastle, which was renamed in 1994 to the Municipality of Clarington. Bowmanville is part of the Greater Toronto Area.

Clarington Municipal Council is the governing body of the municipality of Clarington, Ontario since 1993. There are 7 members on council, including the Mayor and local councillors. The current municipal body was established in 1974 when the Village of Newcastle merged with the town of Bowmanville and the townships of Clarke and Darlington, to form the town of Newcastle. In 1993, the municipality was renamed Clarington. In 1982, terms went from 2, to 3 years in length. Beginning in 2006, terms went from 3 years, to the current 4. Council meetings are open for the general public to attend.

The Cream of Barley Mill is a historic mill in the town of Bowmanville, Municipality of Clarington, Ontario, Canada. Scottish immigrant John MacKay created a new hot cereal product called "cream of barley". In 1884 he bought the preexisting Caledonia Mill, situated on the banks of Soper Creek on the outskirts of the town of Bowmanville, to manufacture his product. The mill was originally built in 1805 by Leonard Soper as a grist mill, and was owned and operated by several others before being bought by McKay. McKay designed and installed new equipment for the milling of barley.The cereal became popular, and MacKay's company shipped Cream of Barley throughout Canada and the British Empire.In 1904 the mill burned, and a new brick mill was built to continue manufacturing the cream of barley cereal.A campground and park, aptly named "The Cream of Barley Campground", was developed on land to the north of the millhouse. In about 1922 a petting zoo was added to the park. By 1928 the mill, camp and park (which now included tourist cabins) were owned James Morden and operated by Alfred Shrubb, formerly a world-renowned long distance runner. By 1946 the park included tennis courts.In the 1950s, with the business under Shrubb's ownership, Cream of Barley began to lose market share to the new cold breakfast cereals. The mill was sold, and over the years the Cream of Barley Mill tourist park and campground were absorbed into what is now the Bowmanville Zoo.In 1973 the Cream of Barley millhouse was purchased by the town of Bowmanville, and since that time has housed the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington, a not-for-profit artistic and cultural centre. The mill building has been designated by the municipality as an architecturally protected historical building under the Ontario Heritage Act.

Bowmanville Zoo was a zoo in Clarington, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1919, at the time of its closure, in 2016, it was the oldest private zoo in North America. It was a large supplier of animals to the U.S. film industry.About 100,000 people visited the zoo each year, a figure which dropped by more than two thirds in its final year. The Bowmanville Zoo officially closed on 10 October 2016.

Bowmanville GO Station is a planned GO Transit train station to be built by Metrolinx in the community of Bowmanville, Ontario. It will be the terminus station of GO Transit's approved expansion of train service on the Lakeshore East line and will become a transit hub for Durham Region Transit and GO Transit. According to a 2011 environmental impact assessment, the station would have about 770 parking spaces, a bus loop and a kiss and ride area on the south side of the station. The station will be located on the south side of CP Rail's Belleville Subdivision and, as a terminal, it will have two stub tracks.

The Jamiah Aishah Siddiqah Islamic Institute was located in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. It was an Islamic School for Muslim girls. Located on a 105-acre campus, the Institute also offered full-time secular education until 12th Grade which was accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

Operation Kiebitz was a failed German operation during World War II to organize the escape of four skilled U-boat commanders from a Canadian prisoner of war camp in Bowmanville, Ontario. The subsequent counter operation by the Royal Canadian Navy, Operation Pointe Maisonnette, became a key engagement in the Battle of the St. Lawrence and was also successful in thwarting the Germans' plan.

The Bowmanville POW camp also known as Camp 30 was a Canadian-run POW camp for German soldiers during World War II located in the community of Bowmanville, Ontario in Clarington, Ontario, Canada (2020 Lambs Road). In September 2013, the camp was designated a National Historic Site of Canada.In 1943, prisoners Otto Kretschmer and Wolfgang Heyda were the subject of an elaborate escape attempt named Operation Kiebitz.

Bowmanville Creek (French: ruisseau Bowmanville) is a stream in the municipality of Clarington, Regional Municipality of Durham in south-central Ontario, Canada. It flows from the Oak Ridges Moraine to Lake Ontario at Bowmanville. The creek is under the auspices of the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority.

Clarington Central Secondary School (also known as CCSS) is a public secondary school located in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, within the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. The school includes Grades 7-12. Clarington Central Secondary School opened in September 2005 to students and was later officially opened by Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board officials and the former Mayor of Clarington John Mutton in November 2005. CCSS is well-known for its Arts programming, and in particular its vibrant musical theatre program. Many students from this program have gone on to successful careers in theatre, film, and television. The school was the stage of LaMira Rose Theatre Collective’s original show Concealer in August, 2019. The founder of the collective is Mars Russell, a member of CCSS alumni.

Darlington Creek (French: ruisseau Darlington) is a stream in the municipality of Clarington, Regional Municipality of Durham in Ontario, Canada. It is a tributary of Lake Ontario and is located in geographic Darlington Township, after which it is named.
