Samuel Hopkins House is a historic home located at Miller Place in Suffolk County, New York. It is a 2+1⁄2-story frame residence with an earlier 1+1⁄2-story wing on the east side. The main portion of the house was built about 1770 and remodeled in the Adam or Federal style in 1816.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Miller Place (originally Miller's Place) was a station on the Wading River Extension on the Port Jefferson Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. The station was just east of Sylvan Avenue just north of New York State Route 25A, along what is now access for Long Island Power Authority power lines.

Miller Place and Mount Sinai have historically been linked, with residents sharing such institutions as the Mount Sinai Congregational Church, located on the hamlet's border. The harborfront section of Port Jefferson, five miles to the west, serves as the primary commercial downtown for residents of both Miller Place and Mount Sinai.

Miller Place Historic District is a national historic district located at Miller Place in Suffolk County, New York. The district contains 27 contributing buildings. It encompasses a concentration of the rural vernacular architecture characteristic of Long Island from the mid-18th through late 19th century. They are largely 1- to 2+1⁄2-story, wood-frame dwellings sheathed in clapboard or wood shingles. Also included is the Miller Place Academy building.The Historic District spans from the William Miller Homestead on North Country Road (CR 20) at the west end, to just beyond the Vassilaros house, then turns northeast along Lower Rocky Point Road until it reaches Gully Landing Road to the east end. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 and was the first national historic district in the Town of Brookhaven.

Cedar Beach is a public beach on the North Shore of Long Island, located within the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County, New York. The beach itself spans 3,450 feet on a peninsula that divides Mount Sinai Harbor from the Long Island Sound. Cedar Beach is located in the hamlet of Mount Sinai, while the peninsula on which it sits is accessed most directly from the adjacent hamlet of Miller Place.

Miller Place High School is a public high school in the Miller Place Union Free School District along the north shore of Long Island, New York, United States. It is the only high school in the district and contains grades 9-12. The school has been ranked the 78th in the United States for the number of students taking AP classes.In the 2020-21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 877 students and 73.30 classroom teachers (on a FTE basis, for a student-teacher ratio of 11.96.

Port Jefferson is the terminus for the Port Jefferson Branch of the Long Island Rail Road in Port Jefferson Station, New York. The station is located on New York State Route 25A (Main Street), on the north side of the tracks, but is also accessible from Oakland Avenue, as well as Railroad Avenue and Union Street on the south side of the tracks. All service is diesel-only, and most off-peak trains are shuttles requiring a transfer to an electric train at Huntington. The station also serves Suffolk County Transit buses and occasionally the Village of Port Jefferson's own local jitney buses. One Suffolk County Transit bus, (Route S51) leads to the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Ferry, approximately one mile to the north. It features service to Bridgeport, Connecticut, hence the reason for some station name signs being adjacent to "Bridgeport Ferries" signs.

Mather Hospital (formerly known as John T. Mather Memorial Hospital) is a general teaching hospital operated by Northwell Health, located in Port Jefferson, New York. It is named after John T. Mather (1854-1928), who, in 1916, made provisions to his will to create the hospital.

Port Jefferson, also known as Port Jeff, is an incorporated village in the town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County, New York, on the North Shore of Long Island. Officially known as the Incorporated Village of Port Jefferson, the population was 7,962 as of the 2020 United States census.Port Jefferson was first settled in the 17th century and remained a rural community until its development as an active shipbuilding center in the mid-19th century. The village has since transitioned to a tourist-based economy. The port remains active as terminus of the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Ferry, one of two commercial ferry lines between Long Island and Connecticut, and is supplemented by the terminus of the Long Island Rail Road's Port Jefferson Branch. It is also the center of the Greater Port Jefferson region of northwestern Brookhaven, serving as the cultural, commercial and transportation hub of the neighboring Port Jefferson Station, Belle Terre, Mount Sinai, Miller Place, Poquott, and the Setaukets.

Port Jefferson Station is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Brookhaven, in Suffolk County, in New York, United States. The population was 7,838 as of the 2010 census.

Lawrence Aviation Industries, Inc. (Lawrence Aviation) was an aircraft parts manufacturer that made titanium parts for military aircraft, such as the Grumman F-14 fighter jet. The former owner of the company, Gerald Cohen, was sentenced to one year and a day in prison and ordered to pay $105,816 in restitution for illegally storing more than 12 tons of hazardous waste on the company's grounds. The former site of the company, in the hamlet of Port Jefferson Station, Town of Brookhaven, New York, is one of the most contaminated sites on Long Island and may be responsible for a toxic groundwater plume in the region. The site is bounded by the Long Island Railroad tracks and Sheep Pasture Road to the north. A Long Island Power Authority easement runs along the southern edge of the property, separating the site from a residential area. To the east and west are residential areas.

The Mather House Museum in Port Jefferson, New York is local history museum complex that includes: the mid 19th century period Mather House house with furnished rooms, and local history and decorative art exhibits a craft house with a display of toys, spinning wheels and quilts a country store with items from a historic barber shop, general store and butcher shop a barn with shipbuilding and sailmaking artifacts a tool shed with shipbuilding and carpentry tools and a museum with antique clocks.The house is the headquarters location for The Historical Society of Greater Port Jefferson.
