New City, New York

Rockland County Courthouse and Dutch Gardens is a historic county courthouse, public garden, and national historic district located at New City in Rockland County, New York. The district has two contributing buildings, one contributing site, five contributing structures, and two contributing objects. The courthouse building was built in 1928 and is a three-story, symmetrical building built of Indiana limestone in a transitional Beaux-Arts / Art Deco style. The interior features a large three-story lobby that extends across the front of the building to the two flanking pavilions. On the front facade is the county World War I Memorial.The Dutch Garden was designed by Mary Horgan Mowbray-Clarke (1874–1962), a West Nyack native and wife of the sculptor John Mowbray-Clarke, in 1933–34 and constructed between 1934 and 1938 as a Works Progress Administration project. It was built as a memorial to the county's early settlers and was designed in the formal 17th century Dutch tradition. The Dutch Garden won "Garden of the Year" from Better Home and Gardens magazine in 1935. Master craftsman Biaglo Gugliuzzo of Garnerville created walks and latticed walls of Haverstraw brick. It was the only W.P.A. landscape architecture project designed and supervised by a woman. The garden features a one-story tea house whose interior features a brick fireplace with carvings of mountains, windmills and other serene symbols representing aspects of Dutch-American history, others of motifs popular in 1930s: Popeye, the Baker Cocoa and Old Dutch Cleanser maids. Also in the garden is a bandstand, a serpentine brick wall, and a small round brick table. It has been said that folk singer Burl Ives once performed there and that Eleanor Roosevelt visited the garden. Markers on site. Now a county park with beautiful display of flowering bulbs in spring. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. It was purchased by the county in 2008 and has been renovated since.

The New City Free Library is a library located in New City, New York. Established as a single room in New City School in 1936, it has expanded into a 32,000-square-foot (3,000 m2) facility with over 200,000 volumes.

The New City Condominiums (also called The Condos, Heritage Dr., The New City Condos, or simply Heritage) is a working to middle class residential neighborhood near the center of New City, New York, the county seat of Rockland County. The neighborhood takes up the entire street of Heritage Drive, and consists almost entirely of townhouses that were built in the 1970s. It is one of the most urbanized neighborhoods in New City, and is located about 0.8 miles (1.3 km) north of the downtown area.

The H.R. Stevens House is located on Congers Road (Rockland County Route 80) in the New City section of the Town of Clarkstown, New York, United States. It is a stone house dating to the late 18th century. In the early 19th century, it was expanded with some wood frame upper stories added later. The interior was also renovated over the course of the century. It shows the convergence of Dutch and English building traditions in the later years of the colonial Hudson Valley. In 2005, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Clarkstown is a town in Rockland County, New York, United States. The town is on the eastern border of the county, located north of the town of Orangetown, east of the town of Ramapo, south of the town of Haverstraw, and west of the Hudson River. As of the 2010 census, the town had a total population of 84,187. The community of New City, the county seat of Rockland County, is also the seat of town government and of the Clarkstown Police Department, the county sheriff's police office, and the county correctional facility. New City makes up about 41.47% of the town's population. In 2008, Clarkstown became one of 600 municipalities nationwide to sign the United States Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to 7 percent below the 1990 levels by 2012.

Clarkstown High School North is a high school located in New City, New York, educating students in grades 9 through 12. Clarkstown North is one of two high schools in the Clarkstown Central School District (CCSD). Since 2006, North offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme to juniors and seniors.In 2015 U.S. News & World Report ranked Clarkstown North Senior High School with a silver award as the 135 Best High School in New York State and 1,329 nationally.

New Square (Yiddish: שיכון סקווירא, romanized: Shikun Skvir) is an all-Hasidic village in the town of Ramapo, Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located north of Hillcrest, east of Viola, south of New Hempstead, and west of New City. As of the 2020 United States census, it had a population of 9,679. Its inhabitants are predominantly members of the Skverer Hasidic movement who seek to maintain a Hasidic lifestyle disconnected from the secular world. It is the poorest town (measured by median income) in New York, and the eighth poorest in the United States. It also has the highest poverty rate, at 64.4%.

The Richard Pousette-Dart House and Studio is a historic property located northeast of Suffern in Rockland County, New York. The American Craftsman and Bungalow-style, stone building was originally erected c. 1916 as a carriage house for a country estate owned by New York City merchant Henry Potter McKenny. From 1959 to 1992, the structure served as the family home and studio of Richard Pousette-Dart (1916–1992), an American abstract expressionist artist and founding member of the New York School of painting. In 2019, the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Albertus Magnus High School, also known as AMHS, Albertus, and Magnus, is a Catholic, co-educational high school located in Bardonia, New York, named after the German philosopher and theologian of the same name. It is the only Catholic high school in Rockland County, New York. Albertus Magnus High School is administered by the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, which was founded on May 6, 1876, in New York City by Mother Catherine Mary Antoninus Thorpe. Albertus Magnus High School is one of the many schools and missions in New York State, Missouri, Maryland, Montana, Pakistan, and Peru staffed by the Sparkill Dominicans in their 130-year history. More than 80% of the student body participates in the many Extracurricular activities available at the school.

The Blauvelt House (also known as Jacob Blauvelt Farmhouse) is a historic house and farm complex located at 20 Zukor Road in New City, Rockland County, New York.

Peter DePew House is a historic home in New City in Rockland County, New York. It is a 1+1⁄2-story dwelling built of locally quarried sandstone. The oldest section dates to about 1750. The property also has a large timber-framed barn.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Paramount Country Club (founded 1948) is a private country club located near New City, New York, on the site of Mountain View Farm, the former home of Paramount Pictures founder Adolph Zukor. It features an 18-hole golf course designed by golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast.
