Farmingdale, New York

Farmingdale is a historic railroad station in Farmingdale, New York, along the Main Line (Ronkonkoma Branch) of the Long Island Rail Road. It is located just east of Secatogue Avenue, on South Front Street and Atlantic Avenue. The station has two platforms (north and south), with an underground pedestrian walkway connecting them. The station house is on the south platform. Parking is available on both sides of the tracks.

Lenox Hills is a neighborhood on the northern edge of Farmingdale, Long Island, New York, near the Melville and Old Bethpage areas. The first subdivision there was established in the late 1920s on land adjacent to an 18-hole golf course then known as the Lenox Hills Country Club. During the Great Depression of the 1930s, this golf course was purchased by the State of New York, enlarged and renamed Bethpage State Park. The Lenox Hills Country Club course is now known as the Green Course of the Park.

South Farmingdale was a station along the Central Branch of the Long Island Rail Road in South Farmingdale, New York, United States.

The 2019 PGA Championship was the 101st edition of the PGA Championship, and the second of golf's four major championships in 2019, held May 16–19 at the Black Course in Bethpage State Park, Farmingdale, New York. This was the first edition under the new schedule in which the PGA Championship is the second major of the year, having previously been the final one for decades. It was the third major and first PGA Championship at Bethpage Black, which hosted U.S. Opens in 2002 and 2009, won by Tiger Woods and Lucas Glover, respectively.Brooks Koepka won his second PGA Championship, and fourth major, by two strokes ahead of runner-up Dustin Johnson. By doing so he became first player to successfully defend both the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open in a career, and became fourth player to successfully defend two different majors in a career. At age 29 he became the only player currently under 30 to win at least four majors, and he returned to being ranked number one in the world. Johnson became the eighth player to have runner-ups in all four majors.Koepka hit a joint record PGA Championship low score of 63 in the first round, and a 65 in the second, to have the lowest 36-hole score in major history, and the largest 36-hole PGA Championship lead (7 strokes) in PGA Championship history. He hit a level par 70 in the third round, to retain a 7 stroke lead going into the final day. He held a healthy lead until a late charge from Johnson brought him within one stroke, but a four over par 74 was enough to get Koepka over the line.Given his recent win in the Masters, and his 2002 U.S. Open win at Bethpage, Tiger Woods had a lot of media attention leading into the tournament, but missed the cut. Given the length of the course, long hitters were expected to do well, and Koepka and Johnson were among the favorites. Rory McIlroy was also among the favorites but finished tied for eighth. After struggling recently for form, Jordan Spieth finished tied for third in his attempt to complete the career grand slam.The leading PGA Club Pro, and winner of his second Crystal Bowl, was Rob Labritz. He finished tied for 60th at 10-over-par.

The Bethpage Black Course is a public golf course at Bethpage State Park on Long Island, New York. The course was designed by Joseph H. Burbeck and was assisted by noted golf architect A. W. Tillinghast. It is the most difficult of Bethpage's five courses, and is known for the warning sign at the first tee, placed in the early 1980s, which reads "WARNING The Black Course Is An Extremely Difficult Course Which We Recommend Only For Highly Skilled Golfers". The course has hosted a number of major championships in recent years, including the 2002 U.S. Open, 2009 U.S. Open, and 2019 PGA Championship.

The 2009 United States Open Championship was the 109th U.S. Open, held June 18–22 on the Black Course of Bethpage State Park on Long Island, in Farmingdale, New York. Lucas Glover won his only major title, two strokes ahead of runners-up Ricky Barnes, David Duval, and Phil Mickelson.This was the second U.S. Open at Bethpage Black; the first in 2002 was won by Tiger Woods, also the defending champion. The 2009 edition was hit heavily by continuous rain throughout the tournament, and resulted in multiple suspensions of play. Mickelson announced that this would be his last tournament for a while, before he took time off to tend to his ailing wife, Amy, who had been recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

The 2002 United States Open Championship was the 102nd U.S. Open, held June 13–16 at the Black Course of Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, New York, east of New York City on Long Island. Tiger Woods was the champion at 277 (−3), three shots ahead of runner-up Phil Mickelson. It was Woods' second U.S. Open victory and eighth major championship win of his career. Woods was the only golfer in the field to finish under par. This U.S. Open was billed as "The People's Open", as it was the first to be held on a true public golf course. For the first time in thirty years, the winner of the Masters also won the U.S. Open, for the first half of the grand slam. It was last accomplished by Jack Nicklaus in 1972, and also by Arnold Palmer (1960), Ben Hogan (1951, 1953), and Craig Wood (1941). Nick Faldo and Hale Irwin were given special exemptions from the USGA to play in the event.

South Farmingdale is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. It is considered part of the Greater Farmingdale area, which is anchored by Farmingdale. The population of the CDP was 14,345 at the 2020 census.

East Farmingdale is a hamlet and a census-designated place (CDP) in Suffolk County, on Long Island, in New York. The population of the CDP was 6,484 at the 2010 census. Located in the Town of Babylon, the residents are served by the Farmingdale Post Office. In the past, some or all East Farmingdale was proposed to become part of the never-realized Incorporated Village of Half Hollow Hills.

Republic was a station stop along the Ronkonkoma Branch which served employees of the Fairchild Engine & Airplane Manufacturing Company and the nearby Republic Airport from 1940 to the late 1980s. As part of a double-tracking project on the line, the station may be reopened.

Farmingdale High School is a public high school located in Farmingdale, Nassau County, New York, and is the only high school operated by the Farmingdale Union Free School District. The building opened in 1962. The school also serves East Farmingdale and a portion of North Amityville , Massapequa Park, and North Massapequa. As of the 2018–19 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,878 students and 142.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.2:1. There were 339 students (18.1% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 42 (2.2% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

The State University of New York at Farmingdale (Farmingdale State College or SUNY Farmingdale) is a public college in East Farmingdale, New York. It is part of the State University of New York. The college was chartered in 1912 as a school of applied agriculture under the name of New York State School Of Agriculture on Long Island. As of the fall semester of 2016, Farmingdale State College had an enrollment of 9,237.
