Middle Branch Oswegatchie River is a river in northern New York. It begins northeast of the Hamlet of Stillwater and flows into the West Branch Oswegatchie River in Harrisville. The Middle Branch mostly consists of shallow and fast-moving waters with only two or three slow-moving sections favorable for canoeists. These include Alder Bed Flow and another still-water section known locally as Moynehan Flow. The latter begins in the area where Lower South Pond Outlet runs into the river. Occasionally, experienced kayakers take advantage of high water conditions to ply its waters – generally from the Bear Pond Road, a few miles upstream of Alder Bed Flow, and downstream to another seasonal access road located near Mullins Flow. However, because they are seasonal roads and the area is so remote – this part of the river is seldom used. Brook trout exist as the primary sport-fish for the entire length of Middle Branch Oswegatchie. Chubs & bullheads are also present in its waters.

Harrisville is a hamlet and former village in Lewis County, New York, United States. The community is now a census-designated place. The population was 628 at the 2010 census.Harrisville is in the northeastern part of the town of Diana and is south of Gouverneur. On May 15, 2018, residents voted to dissolve the village by a vote of 112–70, and it took effect on December 31, 2018. As of the 2019 American Community Survey, the U.S. Census Bureau still lists Harrisville as a village.

Lake Bonaparte is located in Lewis County, New York named after Joseph Bonaparte of the House of Bonaparte. The lake has many different species of fish, and is stocked regularly by the NYSDEC.

Pitcairn is a town in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The population was 846 at the 2010 census. The name is from that of Joseph Pitcairn, an early landowner and diplomat. The Town of Pitcairn is in the southwestern part of the county and is south of Canton.

Sylvia Lake is a lake located by Balmat, New York. Fish species present in the lake are largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, lake trout, rainbow trout, landlocked salmon, and black bullhead. There is a state owned beach launch on Route 812 between Fowler and Balmat.

Fowler is a town in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The population was 2,202 at the 2010 census. The Town of Fowler is located on the southwestern border of the county and is southwest of Canton and southeast of Gouverneur.

Harry and Molly Lewis House, also known as the Fiber Products Research Center, is a historic home located near Beaver Falls in Lewis County, New York. It was built in 1909–1910, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-bay, Colonial Revival style masonry dwelling with a rear ell. It has intersecting hipped roofs and features a monumental two-story projecting portico. Also on the property are the contributing garage (c. 1909–1910), workshop (c. 1909–1910), and water system (c. 1909–1910). The house was converted into the Fiber Products Research Center in 1957 supporting the J.P. Lewis paper company. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Hailesboro is a hamlet and census-designated place in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. Its population was 624 as of the 2010 census. Hailesboro has a post office with ZIP code 13645. New York State Route 58 and New York State Route 812 pass through the community.

Beaver Falls Grange Hall No. 554 is a historic Grange hall located at Beaver Falls in Lewis County, New York. It was built in 1892, and is a two-story, wood-frame building measuring 30 feet wide and 60 feet deep. It sits on a fieldstone foundation and has a front gable roof. It features a one-story, hipped roof front porch. The first floor was converted to a store in 1915. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

Beaver River Central School is a small K-12 school in Beaver Falls in northern Lewis County. As of 2011, it had a total enrollment of 893 and a graduating class of 66. in 2011, 68% of graduates went on to two-year colleges, technical schools, or four-year colleges. The superintendent is Todd Green, and the high school principal is Daniel Rains.

WLFK (95.3 FM, "95-3 The Wolf") is a radio station licensed for 6,000 watts at Gouverneur, New York. The station also has a low-power repeater in Watertown, New York which broadcasts with 50 watts. The audio from this station can be heard on Time Warner Cable in Watertown, New York on channel 96. Time Warner picks up the broadcast from repeater 104.1 which is also in Watertown. Since the FM audio subcarrier for cable channel 96 can be heard on 101.75 FM, cable subscribers in the greater Watertown area can hear WLFK in a much larger area than its low powered Watertown signal can cover. Owned and operated by Community Broadcasters, LLC, it broadcasts a country format. The station carries a national news feed from CNN at the top of each hour. The station has a local disc jockey, Wolfman Bill, (weekdays 6-9 am), and local news courtesy of John Moore at WWTI-TV 50 (Watertown, New York). The remainder of the schedule is filled by satellite, with no local news after that. The station broadcasts Clarkson University hockey. The announcer is Bob Ahlfeld.
