Chester Township, New Jersey

The Chester House Inn, also known as the Chester Inn and the Brick Tavern, is a historic building at the corner of Main Street and Hillside Road in Chester Borough, Morris County, New Jersey. It was built from 1810 to 1812 by Zephaniah Drake. Known as the Chester House Hotel, it was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) in 1937. The inn was added to the National Register of Historic Places for its significance in architecture, commerce, and education on July 18, 1974.

First Congregational Church is a historic church located at 30 Hillside Road in Chester Borough, New Jersey. The congregation was founded in 1740. The church building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 10, 1977, for its significance in architecture, art, and religion.

Larison’s Turkey Farm was a restaurant in Chester Borough, New Jersey.The initial structure was a farmhouse from 1800, which Isaac Corwin built on farmland purchased from Benjamin Luse.In an interview of his childhood, Chester resident Herman Rademacher attests there were 100 turkeys circa 1936. Children of the Chester community would make noises (e.g., "gobble gobble") to the hundred turkeys to elicit a response.According to its signage in a circa 1940 postcard, it sold turkeys, turkey livers, frozen turkeys, and turkey eggs.In 1945, Willis Larison purchased the farm and converted it to “Larison’s Turkey Farm Inn.”It opened as a family restaurant around 1950, becoming a tourist attraction in Chester. In 1974, restaurateur Arthur McGreevy purchased the property. The restaurant was decorated with antiques including Tiffany lamps and taxidermy. Dinners were served family style with platters of meats and sides passed around the table.The Daily Record claimed the restaurant "closed in 2000, and has been unsuccessfully revived three times since, the last one closing in 2009."On December 4, 2021, realtor Robert Berlant conducted a site visit for the former farm while dressed as a turkey. While in costume, Berlant toured the general public as well as members of the Chester Land Use Board, including facilitating entry to the former restaurant.

The General Nathan Cooper Mansion is a historic house in Chester Township, Morris County, New Jersey and was the home of Nathan A. Cooper (1802–1879). It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 21, 1976 for its significance in architecture and military/political history.

The Chester School District is a fully accredited elementary public school district responsible for the education of students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grades from Chester Borough and Chester Township, two municipalities in Morris County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2020–21 school year, the district, comprised of three schools, had an enrollment of 1,047 students and 106.1 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 9.9:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "J", the highest of eight groupings. The Nathan Cooper Gristmill is a historic gristmill on the Black River located at 66 NJ Route 24 in Chester Township, Morris County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 21, 1976 for its significance in industry.Since 1973, the Morris County Park Commission has owned and operated the mill and its 14 surrounding acres as a historic site.

The Black River Wildlife Management Area is located along the Black River (also known as the Lamington River) in Chester Township of Morris County, New Jersey. This WMA is 3,078 acres (12.46 km2) and includes diverse landscape with plentiful flora and fauna. The Patriots' Path follows an abandoned branch of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad along the river.Other parks in the Black River valley are the Black River County Park and the Hacklebarney State Park.

Gill St. Bernard's School is a private, nonsectarian, coeducational, college preparatory day school located along the Somerset-Morris county line between the Gladstone section of Peapack-Gladstone and Chester Township, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Established in 1900, the school serves students in primary (3- to 4-year-olds) through twelfth grade. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1979 and is accredited until January 2028.Gill St. Bernard's School is a member of and accredited by the National Association of Independent Schools and the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools. The Black River, known as the Lamington River downstream of Pottersville, is a tributary of the North Branch Raritan River in central New Jersey in the United States.The Black River starts near that of the North Branch Raritan River, several miles west of Morristown, rising out of Sunset Lake in Mine Hill New Jersey. It flows through the Black River Wildlife Management Area, the Black River County Park, and Hacklebarney State Park. It flows through Chester, New Jersey and the town middle school is named after it.

Bamboo Brook Outdoor Education Center is a botanical garden and public park in Chester Township, New Jersey. The house and garden, listed using its historic name, Merchiston Farm, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 13, 1989 for its significance as the home of the American landscape architect Martha Brookes Hutcheson and her landscaping of the property.

West Morris Central High School (WMCHS) is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Washington Township, Morris County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is one of two high schools in the West Morris Regional High School District.
