Madison Central High School is a defunct public high school in Old Bridge Township, in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States, that opened in 1962 and closed in June 1994. Increasing numbers of students from Old Bridge attending Matawan High School led to double sessions in the 1960-61 school year, with the prospect of triple sessions being necessary as the growing number of students being sent from Old Bridge could swell enrollment even further beyond capacity. The school opened in 1962 as Madison Township High School, serving freshman and sophomores, while those in their junior and senior years continued to attend East Brunswick High School, Keyport High School, Matawan High School or South River High School as part of sending/receiving relationships. Cedar Ridge High School opened in 1968 to help alleviate overcrowding at Madison Central. Old Bridge High School opened in September 1994 and was formed from the merger of Cedar Ridge and Madison Central, which were the two existing high schools in Old Bridge Township.The school had an enrollment of 1,210 in the 1990-1991 school year, slightly larger than the student body at Cedar Ridge.

The T. A. Gillespie Company Shell Loading Plant explosion, sometimes called the Morgan Munitions Depot explosion or similar titles, began at 7:36 pm EDT on Friday, October 4, 1918, at a World War I ammunition plant in the Morgan area of Sayreville in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The initial explosion, generally believed to be accidental, triggered a fire and subsequent series of explosions that continued for three days, totaling approximately six kilotons, killing about 100 people and injuring hundreds more. The facility, one of the largest in the world at the time, was destroyed along with more than 300 surrounding buildings, forcing the evacuation and reconstruction of Sayreville, South Amboy, and Laurence Harbor (Old Bridge). Over a century later, explosive debris continues to surface regularly across a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) radius.

Cheesequake is an unincorporated community located within Old Bridge Township in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Cheesequake is located along Route 34, south of Cheesequake State Park.The community's name has been said to be derived from the Lenni Lenape word Cheseh-oh-ke, meaning "upland" or from the word chiskhakink or chickhake, meaning "land that has been cleared."

Cheesequake State Park is a 1,610-acre (2.52 sq mi) state park located in Old Bridge, Middlesex County, New Jersey, in the United States. The New Jersey Legislature allocated $100,000 in 1937 to purchase property for the park. The state first acquired a 250-acre (100 ha) tract of farmland and a Civil War-era mansion from the Favier brothers in January 1938. Additional lands were acquired over the next two years, and the Civil Conservation Corps, part of the Works Progress Administration, helped develop the property. The park was opened in June 1940. It is operated and maintained by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry and is part of the New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail Route. The name Cheesequake has been variously described as deriving from the Lenape words Cheseh-oh-ke ("upland"), Chichequaas ("upland village"), or Chiskhakink ("at the land that has been cleared").

Sayreville is a borough in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Sayreville is within the heart of the Raritan Valley region, located on the south banks of the Raritan River, and also located on the Raritan Bay. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 45,345, an increase of 2,641 (+6.2%) from the 2010 census count of 42,704, which in turn reflected an increase of 2,327 (+5.8%) from the 40,377 counted in the 2000 census.Sayreville was originally incorporated as a township on April 6, 1876, from portions of South Amboy Township. On April 2, 1919, the borough was reincorporated as the Borough of Sayreville and ratified by a referendum held on April 29, 1919.

Christ Church Cemetery is located in South Amboy, New Jersey. The cemetery is owned and operated by the Christ Episcopal Church in South Amboy. The cemetery opened in 1856 and is still accepting new burials.

Sayreville War Memorial High School (SWMHS) is a four-year public high school located in the Parlin section of Sayreville, in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades as the lone secondary school of the Sayreville Public Schools district. The school is home to the Sayreville Bombers, who are best known for their varsity football and track program. Sayreville's colors are blue and grey. The name "War Memorial" recognizes the World War II veterans who reside in the borough. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1946.As of the 2020–21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,755 students and 135.6 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.9:1. There were 504 students (28.7% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 128 (7.3% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Riverton is a real estate development located in Sayreville, New Jersey on the south bank of the Raritan River. It is situated nearby the Garden State Parkway near where the Edison Bridge and Driscoll Bridge cross the river. The site was formerly owned by National Lead. In 2023, the project received $400 million in tax incentives from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. Bass Pro Shops will anchor the retail section of the project.

Morgan is a neighborhood in Sayreville in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, named for Charles Morgan III who purchased the land on May 7, 1710.The Morgan Draw, constructed over the Cheesequake Creek in 1912, serves the North Jersey Coast Line.A month before the end of World War I in 1918, the neighborhood was heavily damaged by the T. The Runyon Watershed is a reservoir system located in Old Bridge Township, New Jersey just south of Sayreville. It is operated by the Middlesex Water Company. The 1,100 acres (450 ha) watershed area was first established in the late 1800 when it was purchased by the city of Perth Amboy, which developed a reservoir and waterworks in the 1920s, and turned over management to the company in 2003. The area is protected, with more than 500 acres of the tract are wetlands that are from development by the state's 1990 Watershed Moratorium Act A weather station in Runyon recorded a high temperature of 110 °F (43 °C) on July 10, 1936, setting the record for the hottest temperature ever recorded in New Jersey.

Cardinal McCarrick High School (CMHS), later known as Cardinal McCarrick/St. Mary's High School, was a Catholic secondary school located in South Amboy, New Jersey, that operated under the supervision of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen. The school closed at the end of the 2014–15 school year, in the wake of an increasing financial deficit.As of the 2009–10 school year, the school had an enrollment of 328 students and 25.6 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.8:1.
