Roger Williams University

WQRI (88.3 FM) is the official radio station for Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island, United States. WQRI's D.J.s are students and staff at the university. They provide numerous live events, radio shows, and listening opportunities to the University and surrounding community. The station is currently owned by Roger Williams University and plays a variety of music genres which include alternative, metal, country, disco, classic rock, and many more. WQRI updated its systems in 2005 to include an internet stream.

Roger Williams University School of Law is the law school of Roger Williams University, a private university in Bristol, Rhode Island. It is the only law school in Rhode Island. It was the first graduate degree program established by the university, then Roger Williams College, in 1993. The School of Law has been accredited by the American Bar Association since 1997 and has been a member of the Association of American Law Schools since 2006. It is one of a handful of law schools within the United States that offer a focus in Maritime Law. Roger Williams University School of law offers guaranteed clinical hands-on experience. It is also the lowest priced ABA accredited private law school in the Northeast, at a tuition of $44,834 for the 2023-2034 year. RWU Law also offers a second experiential campus in the heart of Providence, Rhode Island. There were 179 students enrolled as first-year students in 2022. According to Roger Williams's official 2017 ABA-required disclosures, 76.67% of the Class of 2017 obtained full-time, long-term, JD-required employment nine months after graduation. RWU Law, in 2020, had a Bar passage rate of 78.0%. Roger Williams University School of Law, ranks #10 in federal and state clerkships. The William G. Low House was a seaside cottage at 3 Low Lane in Bristol, Rhode Island. It was designed and built in 1886–1887 by architect Charles McKim of the New York City firm, McKim, Mead & White. With its distinctive single 140-foot-long (43 m) gable it embodied many of the tenets of Shingle Style architecture—horizontality, simplified massing and geometry, minimal ornamentation, the blending of interior and exterior spaces. The architectural historian Vincent Scully saw it as "at once a climax and a kind of conclusion" for McKim, since its "prototypal form ... was almost immediately to be abandoned for the more conventionally conceived columns and pediments of McKim, Mead, and White's later buildings."Just before it was demolished in 1962, the house was documented with measured drawings and photographs by the Historic American Buildings Survey.Wrote architectural historian Leland Roth, "Although little known in its own time, the Low House has come to represent the high mark of the Shingle Style."

Bristol Ferry Light is a historic lighthouse in Bristol, Rhode Island, United States. It is located on the shores of Narragansett Bay at Bristol Point, the northern land point of Mount Hope Bay at the base of the Mount Hope Bridge. The two-story square brick lighthouse was built in 1855, along with an attached 1+1/2 story brick keeper's house. Its use was discontinued in 1927 with the construction of the Mount Hope Bridge, and a replacement automated beacon across Ferry Road. Prior to the construction of the bridge, a ferry operated between Bristol and Aquidneck Island, and the light assisted the ferry service. The Bristol Ferry Lighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, at which time it was a private residence.

The Blithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum is an arboretum of 13 hectares (32 acres), located at 101 Ferry Road, Bristol, Rhode Island, midway between Newport and Providence, Rhode Island, on Bristol Harbor with views over Narragansett Bay. It includes a mansion, with a 4 hectares (9.9 acres) lawn and over 300 species of woody plants in its arboretum and gardens, including both native and exotic species. The Mansion and its grounds were established in the 1890s by Augustus and Bessie Van Wickle as their summer retreat. Augustus Van Wickle was from Hazleton, Pennsylvania, with a fortune in the coal-mining business and a donor of the Van Wickle Gates at Brown University.

The Mount Hope Bridge is a two-lane suspension bridge spanning the Mount Hope Bay in eastern Rhode Island at one of the narrowest gaps in Narragansett Bay. The bridge connects the Rhode Island towns of Portsmouth and Bristol and is part of Route 114. Its towers are 285 feet (87 m) tall, the length of the main span is 1,200 feet (370 m), and it offers 135 feet (41 m) of clearance over high water. The total length of the bridge is 6,130 feet (1,870 m).

The Musselbed Shoals Light was a lighthouse which once stood in Narragansett Bay at the west entrance to Mount Hope Bay, south of Bristol Point. As with many Rhode Island lights, it was a casualty of the New England Hurricane of 1938.

The Bristol County Courthouse (or Bristol Statehouse) is an historic courthouse on High Street in Bristol, Rhode Island, USA built in 1816. It was originally one of five locations in Rhode Island which hosted the state legislature on a rotating basis, and served as the county courthouse through the 1980s. Currently the building is used for educational and community programs, meetings, and events.

America3 (pronounced "America Cubed") is the name of both a syndicate that vied for the America's Cup in 1992 and 1995 and its boats.

America3 (USA–23) (pronounced "America cubed") was an American International America's Cup Class (IACC) yacht that successfully defended the 1992 America's Cup challenge from the Il Moro Challenge racing syndicate. America3 was one of the yachts built for the America3 Foundation racing syndicate, headed by American businessman Bill Koch, for the 1992 Citizen Cup. Four IACC yachts were ordered: Jayhawk (USA-9) Defiant (USA-18) Kanza (USA-28) America3 (USA-23) The yacht selected for competition, America3, was fastest. It was launched in 1992. America3 won the Citizen Cup, then successfully defended the America's Cup against the challenge of the Italian yacht Il Moro di Venezia V (ITA-25), winner of the 1992 Louis Vuitton Cup. Koch was inducted into the America's Cup Hall of Fame in 1993. The America3 Foundation racing syndicate entered the 1995 Citizen Cup with an all women's programme. The team sailed America3 in the first three stages of the Round Robin, then switched to their newly delivered yacht Mighty Mary for the remainder of the event. In 2005 America3 and Il Moro di Venezia V were on display at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Defiant is on display at the Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol, Rhode Island. Jayhawk is on display at the Wichita Boathouse in Wichita, Kansas.

The Herreshoff Marine Museumis a maritime museum in Bristol, Rhode Island dedicated to the history of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company, yachting, and America's Cup. The Herreshoff Manufacturing Company (1878–1945) was most notable for producing sailing yachts, including eight America's Cup defenders, and steam-powered vessels. The museum, situated near Narragansett Bay on the grounds where the manufacturing company once stood, has a collection of over sixty boats including Nathanael Greene Herreshoff's Clara, built in 1887, Harold Vanderbilt's Trivia, and the 1992 IACC yacht, Defiant. The Nathanael Greene Herreshoff Model Room contains over 500 yacht and steam yacht models and the Rebecca Chase Herreshoff Library holds a collection of books and manuscripts related to the company, the Herreshoff family, and yachting. The museum also hosts symposia related to yacht design and operates a sailing school.

Hog Island Shoal Light, built in 1901, is a sparkplug lighthouse on a shoal off of Hog Island, Rhode Island. It is located about 600 feet (180 m) southeast of the island, at the entrance to Mount Hope Bay. It stands on a circular concrete foundation set in about 10 feet (3.0 m) of water, and rising about 6 feet (1.8 m) above the water line. It was built to replace a light ship, and was the last light station formally established in the state. The lighthouse was automated in 1964. In 1988 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. In 2006 the lighthouse was auctioned by the GSA as government surplus to a private buyer.
