Sussex County Technical School

The Sussex County Vocational School District is a county-wide vocational public school district located in Sparta Township serving students in ninth through twelfth grades and adult students from Sussex County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2018–19 school year, the district, comprised of one school, had an enrollment of 761 students and 62.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.3:1.

Old Monroe School House is located in the Monroe section of Hardyston Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. The schoolhouse was built in 1819 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 12, 1977. The building is owned by the Hardyston Heritage Society and is open to the public as a period education museum. It is usually open to the public on the first Sunday of the months of June through September.

Lafayette Township is a township located in the Skylands Region of Sussex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 2,358, a decrease of 180 (−7.1%) from the 2010 census count of 2,538, which in turn reflected an increase of 238 (+10.3%) from the 2,300 counted in the 2000 census. The township is crossed by Route 15 and Route 94.

District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.For ninth through twelfth grades, public school students attend High Point Regional High School, which also serves students from Branchville, Frankford Township, Montague Township, Sussex Borough and Wantage Township (where the school is located). As of the 2018–19 school year, the high school had an enrollment of 893 students and 81.9 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.9:1.

The Pimple Hills are a range of the New York-New Jersey Highlands region of the Appalachian Mountains. The summit, reaching a height of 1,122 feet (342 m), lies within Sussex County, New Jersey.

Sterling Hill is a mountain in Sussex County, New Jersey. The peak rises to 833 feet (254 m), and overlooks the Wallkill River and Ogdensburg to the southeast. It is part of the Pimple Hills.

The Sterling Hill Mine, now known as the Sterling Hill Mining Museum, is a former zinc mine in Ogdensburg, Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. It was the last working underground mine in New Jersey. It closed in 1986, and became a museum in 1989. Along with the nearby Franklin Mine, it is known for its variety of minerals, especially the fluorescent varieties. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Sparta High School is a four-year comprehensive community public high school serving students in ninth through twelfth grades from Sparta, in Sussex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as the lone secondary school of the Sparta Township Public School District. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,065 students and 98.7 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.8:1. There were 28 students (2.6% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 11 (1.0% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Sparta is a township in Sussex County in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 19,600, a decrease of 122 (−0.6%) from the 2010 census count of 19,722, which in turn reflected an increase of 1,642 (+9.1%) from the 18,080 counted in the 2000 census.Sparta was organized as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 14, 1845, from portions of Byram Township, Frankford Township, Hardyston Township and (the now-defunct) Newton Township. The township was named after the existing community of Sparta, which had been settled and named years before, the name likely coming from Sparta, Greece. Ogdensburg borough was incorporated on February 26, 1914, from portions of Sparta Township.The township was listed as the safest place in New Jersey as well as the seventh safest municipality in the nation according to a 2022 crime statistic compilation from Safewise.com.

The A.O. Polymer manufacturing site is located in Sparta Township, New Jersey. This facility created special polymers, plastics, and resins. It was also used for reclaiming spent solvents. The facility's poor waste handling led to serious contamination of the ground. It also contaminated the water in the ground with volatile organic compounds. The site has been a threat to the Allentown aquifer, which provides drinking water to over 5,000 people. Initial clean ups started with getting rid of old drums and contaminants from their original disposal area. The company took them and decided to dispose of them elsewhere, thus not fixing the problem. Primary cleanups of the site were ongoing as of 2008. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has been using water pumps to remove contaminants from the water in the ground. A soil extraction system has been put at their disposal to remove harmful contamination within the soil as well. All wells in the affected areas have been closed.
