Slane Castle

The Slane Festival (often referred to as Slane) is a recurring concert held most years since 1981 on the grounds of Slane Castle on the outskirts of Slane in County Meath, Ireland. The castle is owned by The 8th Marquess Conyngham, who was known by the courtesy title the Earl of Mount Charles from 1974 until 2009. Slane lies between Navan and Drogheda, about 45 km northwest of Dublin. Concerts typically occur on a Saturday in August, from 12:00 to 22:00. The sloping grounds of Slane Castle form a natural amphitheatre which is ideal for concerts. As many as 70,000–110,000 people usually attend. One of the venue boundaries is the River Boyne. Two people died while trying to swim the river to gain free access to R.E.M.'s concert in 1995. The minimum age of admission to the Slane Festival was reduced in 2006 from 18 to 16 because of complaints.Aiken Promotions invited artists such as David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Queen, The Rolling Stones, and Bruce Springsteen to perform during the 1980s. 2001 and 2013 are the only years in which two concerts were held in the same year. In 2001, both concerts were headlined by U2. In 2013, the first concert was headlined by Bon Jovi and the second by Eminem, who had controversially cancelled his 2005 Slane appearance after entering drug rehabilitation. The most recent Slane Festival took place on 10 June 2023, headlined by Harry Styles.

Slane (Irish: Baile Shláine, meaning 'Town of Sláine mac Dela') is a village in County Meath, in Ireland. The village stands on a steep hillside on the left bank of the River Boyne at the intersection of the N2 (Dublin to Monaghan road) and the N51 (Drogheda to Navan road). As of the 2022 census, Slane's population was 1,445. The village and surrounding area contains many historic sites dating back over 5,000 years. The village centre, as it is laid-out today, dates mainly from the 18th century.

Beauparc railway station was a station in Ireland, on the Drogheda-to-Navan line, currently used for freight only services provided by Irish Rail. It was opened on 1 September 1850 by the Dublin and Drogheda Railway, which became part of the Great Northern Railway of Ireland system, and closed on 14 March 1958.

Yellow Furze (Irish: an Aitinn Bhuí, meaning 'small yellow place') is a small village in County Meath, Ireland. It is located 5 km southwest of Slane, on the boundary between the townlands of Dollardstown (Baile an Dolardaigh) and Seneschalstown (Baile an tSeanascail).Yellow Furze is in the Catholic parish of Beauparc, which extends over an area on the south side of the River Boyne between Navan and Slane. The village church is the Church of the Assumption and there is a cemetery next to it.

Stackallan House (originally Boyne House) is an early 18th century unfortified house in Stackallan, County Meath, Ireland. The house was constructed around 1712 for Gustavus Hamilton, 1st Viscount Boyne and the Queen Anne design has been attributed to John Curle by the architectural historian Christine Casey. The house is notable for being one of the few surviving early 18th century houses in a classical pre-Georgian style. It is built largely on a square plan with 3 storeys over basement and a steep pitched roof in an almost French style. Stylistically, the house also contains other more northern European influrences. The principal west front facade contains 9 bays with a 3 bay break front with the south facade having seven bays also with a 3 bay break front. The house bears some similarities to the nearby Beaulieu House which was constructed nearby around the same time and likely using many of the same tradespeople. It was built on the banks of the Boyne river in sight of the battlefield of the Battle of the Boyne in which the developer, Gustavus Hamilton commanded a regiment of Williamite soldiers. In the early 20th century the house was owned by Henry Farnham Burke. The home was owned by Margaret Heffernan for a period who bought it for IRE £1.75 million in 1993, but sold it on to Martin Naughton, stating that the running costs were too high.

Stackallan is a civil parish in County Meath, Ireland.The area is notable for the presence of Stackallan House, one of the earliest surviving examples of unfortified classical housing in Ireland constructed around 1712.

Rossnaree or Rosnaree (Irish: Ros na Rí, meaning 'wood of the kings'; Old Irish Ros na Ríg or Ros na Ríogh) is a small village and townland in County Meath, Ireland, 10 km west of Drogheda. The village is on the south bank of the River Boyne, and the Brú na Bóinne complex of neolithic monuments is nearby, on the north bank of the Boyne. Rossnaree commands a ford that was used by the Williamites at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. The walls of the mill at Rossnaree once contained a Sheela na Gig, although this has been removed for safekeeping and is in private possession.

Knowth (; Irish: Cnóbha) is a prehistoric monument overlooking the River Boyne in County Meath, Ireland. It comprises a large passage tomb surrounded by 17 smaller tombs, built during the Neolithic era around 3200 BC. It contains the largest assemblage of megalithic art in Europe. Knowth is part of the Brú na Bóinne complex, a World Heritage Site that also includes the similar passage tombs of Newgrange and Dowth. After its initial period of use, Knowth gradually became a ruin, although the area continued to be a site of ritual activity in the Bronze Age. During the early Middle Ages, a royal residence was built on top of the great mound, which became the seat of the Kings of Knowth or Northern Brega. Archaeologist George Eogan led an extensive investigation of the site from the 1960s to 1980s, and parts of the monument were reconstructed.
