Nebraska Governor's Mansion

The Nebraska State Capitol is the seat of government for the U.S. state of Nebraska and is located in downtown Lincoln. Designed by New York architect Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue in 1920, it was constructed of Indiana limestone from 1922 to 1932. The capitol houses the primary executive and judicial offices of Nebraska and is home to the Nebraska Legislature—the only unicameral state legislature in the United States. The Nebraska State Capitol's 400-foot (120 m) tower can be seen up to twenty miles (32 km) away. It was the first state capitol to incorporate a functional tower into its design. Goodhue stated that "Nebraska is a level country and its capitol should have some altitude or beacon effect." In 1976, the National Park Service designated the capitol a National Historic Landmark, and in 1997, the Park Service extended the designation to include the capitol grounds, which Ernst H. Herminghaus designed in 1932.

Abraham Lincoln – also known as The Gettysburg Lincoln – is a bronze statue of President Abraham Lincoln by Daniel Chester French, located on the grounds of the Nebraska State Capitol. The monument was commissioned by the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Association of Lincoln, Nebraska, and produced between 1909 and its unveiling in 1912. The statue was cast in bronze by Jno. Williams, Inc. of New York. Its architectural setting was created by French's longtime collaborator Henry Bacon. The 8.67 ft (2.64 m) statue stands upon a 6 ft (1.83 m) granite base and before a 20 ft (6.1 m) granite stele, on which is inscribed the text of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. French later used much of his research for this statue – consisting largely of studying Mathew Brady's photographs of Lincoln and obtaining a copy of Leonard Volk's plaster life cast of the president – in the creation of his most famous work: the Lincoln statue (1920) at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The Nebraska Supreme Court is the highest court in the U.S. state of Nebraska. The court consists of a chief justice and six associate justices. Each justice is initially appointed by the governor of Nebraska; using the Missouri Plan, each justice is then subject to a retention vote for additional six-year terms. The six justices each represent a Supreme Court district; the chief justice is appointed (and retained) at-large. Unlike most other states, with the exception of North Dakota, the Nebraska Supreme Court requires a supermajority of five justices of the seven to rule unconstitutional a legislative provision (the 48 others states require a simple majority).

The President and Ambassador Apartments are two five-story apartment buildings in Lincoln, Nebraska. They were built in 1928–1929 on land owned by Levi Leland Coryell, and designed in the Art Deco style by architect John A. Alexander. They belonged to the L. L. Coryell Building Corporation until 1979. They have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since December 10, 1993.

Sky Park Manor is a twelve-story, luxury apartment building built in 1963 by Selmer A. Solheim and Olson Construction in Lincoln, Nebraska. The apartment building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its architectural significance as emblematic of the International Style of architecture.

The William H. Ferguson House is a historic two-and-a-half-story house in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was built in 1906-1907 for William H. Ferguson, a landholder, merchant and business owner who died in 1937. It was designed in the Renaissance Revival style. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since November 29, 1972.

The Thomas P. Kennard House, also known as the Nebraska Statehood Memorial, is the oldest remaining building in the original plat of Lincoln, Nebraska. Built in 1869, the Italianate house belonged to Thomas P. Kennard, the first Secretary of State for Nebraska, and one of three men who picked the Lincoln site for the new state's capital in 1867. The house was designed by architect John Keys Winchell of Chicago. In 1965 the Kennard House was designated the Nebraska Statehood Memorial, and became a museum. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 16, 1969.The house is a 2+1⁄2-story stuccoed brick building with a frame cupola on the shallow-pitched hip roof. The house was extensively altered inside and out before its designation as a memorial and required major restoration work to return its appearance to its original state.Kennard, Nebraska is named for Thomas P. The Hurlbut–Yates House is a historic house in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was built in 1891 for Aeneas Hurlbut, who had served in the American Civil War of 1861–1865 before moving to Nebraska. It was designed in the Queen Anne and Stick/Eastlake styles by architect Ferdinand C. Fiske. In 1893, it was purchased by Charles Yates, who lived here with his wife Ruth, their two sons and two daughters. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 17, 1999 as Aeneas Hurlbut–Charles Yates House.It is termed the "Hurlbut–Yates House" by the City of Lincoln, which designated the house to be a Local Landmark. In its 1987 Local Landmark application, the property was deemed "one of the finest Queen Anne style houses in Nebraska, with a high degree of integrity, reinforced by an exemplary rehabilitation and restoration." It also noted that "Charles Yates was a leading businessman in Lincoln and his sons and grandsons continued to make significant and positive impact on the community."

The Scottish Rite Temple in Lincoln, Nebraska is a building from 1916. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.It is a massive, grand building designed by architects Berlinghof & Davis. It has a "colossal order of ten fluted Roman Doric columns on the west front, set in antis between blocky end pavilions. The south side is the only other fully developed, limestone-clad facade, with five bays separated by shallow paired, Roman Doric pilasters. Both the west and the south facades have full entablatures. On the west, the frieze above the pavilions has Greek and Latin inscriptions, while above the colonnade the frieze is inscribed "TEMPLE OF THE ANCIENT AND ACCEPTED SCOTTISH RITE OF FREEMASONRY". The south frieze reads "HUMANITY LIBERTY FRATERNITY". Above the denticular cornice is a parapet pierced with balustrades, corresponding with the intercolumnation. The attic story is recessed from the north, west, and south facades, masking its buff brick walls behind the parapet when viewed from the west or south. The attic is crowned with an ornate gray terra cotta cornice which closely mimics the limestone below."

The Nebraska Department of Revenue is an agency of the Nebraska state government responsible for the administration of state revenue and tax programs. The Nebraska Constitution prohibits use of a property tax, thus most revenue is collected from a state sales tax, use taxes, and a state income tax. The department also oversees the Nebraska Lottery and "Charitable Gaming".The department headquarters are located at the State Office Building, at 301 Centennial Mall, South, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The current Tax Commissioner of Nebraska is Tony Fulton. He was appointed by Governor Pete Ricketts in January 2016.

The Lyman Terrace is a historic three-story apartment building in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was built in 1889 for Charles W. Lyman, and designed in the eclectic style by architect Ferdinand C. Fiske. By 1890, it belonged to William Barr, a German immigrant and real estate investor who first settled in Lincoln in 1861, when it was still known as Lancaster, and also owned Barr Terrace. The building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since October 1, 1979.

The Harris House is a historic two-and-a-half-story house in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was built in 1902 for Sarah Harris. Her husband George Samuel Harris worked for the railroad company and encouraged many immigrants from Eastern Europe to settle in Lincoln before his death in 1874. His widow published her memoirs as a pioneer in Nebraska. Many of their sons went on to success in business at a national scale. The house was designed in the Classical Revival style. It was purchased by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln chapter of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity in 1919. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since September 2, 1982.
