The William Starr Miller House is a mansion at 1048 Fifth Avenue, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. Prior to Miller’s development of the property, the site was home to David Mayer (died in 1914), a founder of the David Mayer Brewing Company and a friend of Oscar S. Straus.

1049 Fifth Avenue is a 23-floor luxury condominium apartment building located in the Upper East Side, New York City. Built in 1928 as the Adams Hotel, the building underwent extensive renovation in its conversion to residential condominiums during the years 1990-1993. When the apartments were first offered for sale in 1991, they were the highest-priced residential apartments ever listed in New York City. Their sale prices set city records in 1993 and 1994.

85th Street is a westbound-running street, running from East End Avenue to Riverside Drive in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. At Fifth Avenue, the street feeds into the 86th Street transverse, which runs east–west through Central Park and heads from the Upper East Side (where it is known as East 85th Street) to West 86th Street on the Upper West Side. West 85th Street resumes one block south of the transverse's western end. It includes landmarks such as the Lewis Gouverneur and Nathalie Bailey Morris House at 100 East 85th Street, the sidewalk clock at East 85th Street and Third Avenue, the Yorkville Bank Building at 201–203 East 85th Street, Red House at 350 West 85th Street, and Regis High School.

The James Speyer House was a mansion located at 1058 Fifth Avenue, on the southeast corner of 87th Street, in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City. It was constructed for James Speyer, a New York City banker. It was a reticent classicizing block of three storeys and a set-back attic storey over a sunk basement lit by a light well; it had five bays on the avenue, where the upper two floors were linked by a colossal order of pilasters, and seven bays on the side street.

The Henry Phipps House was a mansion located on 1063 Fifth Avenue in the Upper East Side in Manhattan, New York City. It was constructed for Henry Phipps and demolished after his death in 1930. The entire marble facade was however stripped and shipped off by his widow to their daughter Amy's country estate “Templeton” to a field in Brookville, New York.Parts of the marble were later repurposed to renovate "Templeton" in 2013.

The Institute for the Study of the Ancient World (ISAW) is a center for advanced scholarly research and graduate education at New York University. ISAW's mission is to cultivate comparative, connective investigations of the ancient world from the western Mediterranean to China. Areas of specialty among ISAW's faculty include the Greco-Roman world, the Ancient Near East, Egypt, Central Asia and the Silk Road, East Asian art and archaeology, Late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages, ancient science, and digital humanities.ISAW was founded in 2006 with funding from the Leon Levy Foundation, established to continue the philanthropic legacy of Leon Levy, co-founder of the Oppenheimer mutual funds. Long interested in ancient history, Levy in his final years, along with his wife Shelby White, began discussions about the creation of a path-breaking institute where advanced scholars would explore trade and cultural links among ancient civilizations. After Levy's death in 2003, one of the earliest initiatives of the Leon Levy Foundation, was the fulfillment of that plan. ISAW is a discrete entity within New York University, independent of any other school or department of the university, with its own endowment and its own board of trustees, and is housed in separate facilities in a historic six-story limestone on East 84th Street in Manhattan.

Marymount School of New York is a college preparatory, independent, Catholic day school for girls located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. It was founded by Mother Marie Joseph Butler in 1926 as part of a network of schools directed by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. The school enrolls students in Nursery through Class XII.

The 1973 New York City bomb plot was a plan by the Palestinian militant group Black September to detonate three car bombs in New York City at the same time Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir arrived there in March 1973. The bombs failed to explode, but the main suspect, Khalid Duhham Al-Jawary, was not caught until January 1991. The attempted attack was the first such Black September operation within the United States.

1020 Fifth Avenue is a luxury housing cooperative in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City. It is located on the northeast corner of 83rd Street and Fifth Avenue, across the street from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Fifth Avenue building. It is part of the Metropolitan Museum Historic District. Along with 1040 Fifth Avenue, 998 Fifth Avenue and 1016 Fifth Avenue, it is considered among the most prestigious residential buildings in New York City and is frequently included in lists of top residential buildings. Sales of units in the building are often reported by the press. Former New York Times architectural critic Carter Horsley describes the building as "[o]ne of the supreme residential buildings of New York". The building is profiled in multiple architectural books, including in Windows on the Park: New York's most prestigious properties on Central Park, where it is described as "one of the city's most exclusive addresses".1020 Fifth Avenue was completed in 1925 and was designed by Warren and Wetmore. The building has 13 stories, consisting mostly of full floor units or duplexes. The building occupies a corner site that was once the site of the mansion of Civil War general Richard Arnold. The building's exterior has neo-Italian Renaissance style ornamentation with a three-story high rusticated base. The main entrance to the building faces East 83rd Street rather than Fifth Avenue. An entrance on Fifth Avenue provides access to a maisonette unit, which has its own address of 1022 Fifth Avenue. The building's floors are designed in a staggered manner as to allow six of the apartments to have large salons that are 20' 9" by 40' 2" in floor area with extra high ceilings ranging from fourteen to eighteen feet (see layout diagram).

The Katharina Rich Perlow Gallery is an art gallery in New York City that was involved in the New York art market of the 1980s and 1990s. The gallery was founded by Katharina Rich Perlow on New York's Upper East Side in 1985, moved to SoHo in 1988, and relocated to the Fuller Building in 1999. Throughout its history, the gallery mounted solo exhibitions for many American artists including Milton Avery, Sally Michel Avery, Robert Goodnough, John Ferren, Ian Hornak, and Irving Kriesberg, among others. Frequently included in group exhibitions were artworks by Jackson Pollock, Alfonso Ossorio, Milton Resnick and Helen Frankenthaler.Today the company continues to be operated by Katharina Rich Perlow, although no longer curates exhibitions and is operated as a private fine art brokerage, located at 40 East 84th Street, New York, New York 10028.
