Tsaritsyno District

Tsaritsyno is a railway station of Line D2 of the Moscow Central Diameters in Moscow. It was opened in 1865. The current station was built in 1908 according to the project of the architect V.K. Fillipov. Leo Tolstoy in his novel "Anna Karenina" describes the celebration of the volunteers traveling to the Russo-Turkish War at the Tsaritsyno station.

It is on the Zamoskvoretskaya line, between Kantemirovskaya and Orekhovo stations. The entrance is located at the intersection of Luganskaya, Kaspiyskaya and Tovarishchesckaya ('Luhansk', 'Caspian', and 'Tovarishch' streets).Tsaritsyno opened on 30 December 1984 as part of an extension but was closed the very next day because of flooding. It reopened on 9 February 1985. From its opening until November 1990, the station was named Lenino for the Lenino-Dachnoye region. The city renamed the station Tsaritsyno for Tsaritsyno Park, which houses a palace once owned by Catherine the Great.The stations has been closed since 12 November 2022 due to the reconstruction works.

The Muromtsev Dacha (Russian: Да́ча Му́ромцева) was a wooden dacha built at the end of the 19th century in Moscow’s southern Tsaritsyno District (“historical Muromtsev Dacha”) and largely rebuilt in the 1960s (“modern Muromtsev Dacha”). It was demolished in 2010 The historical Muromtsev Dacha was a three-story wooden building with “Swedish-style” turrets. Because of the damage it suffered in the German-Soviet War, it was dismantled, and a new wooden building was erected on its foundations.

Southern Administrative Okrug, or Yuzhny Administrative Okrug (Russian: Южный административный округ, romanized: Yuzhny administrativny okrug), is one of the twelve high-level territorial divisions (administrative okrugs) of the federal city of Moscow, Russia. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 1,716,808, up from 1,593,065 recorded during the 2002 Census.

Tsaritsyno (Russian: Царицыно, IPA: [tsɐˈrʲitsɨnə], literal meaning "Tsaritsa's property") is a palace museum and park reserve in the south of Moscow. It was founded in 1775 as the summer residence of Empress Catherine II, but the construction remained incomplete. For most of its history, it was a half-abandoned park with picturesque ruins. In the 2000s, the palace was restored according to the original plans. Today, it is a museum complex and a leisure place for Muscovites and tourists.

Kantemirovskaya (Russian: Кантемировская) is a Moscow Metro station in Tsaritsyno District, Southern Administrative Okrug, Moscow. It is on the Zamoskvoretskaya Line, between Kashirskaya and Tsaritsyno stations at the intersection of Proletarsky (Proletariat) avenue and Kantemirovskaya street. The station got its name from Kantemirovskaya Street, which in turn was named in honor of the 4th Guards Kantemirovskaya Tank Division. Kantemirovskaya opened on 30 December 1984 as part of an extension but was closed the very next day because of flooding. It reopened on 9 February 1985. Kantemirovskaya, having been designed by Rimidalv Pogrebnoy and Vladimir Filippov, is a shallow one-vault station with benches and signs attached to pink marble pillars situated along the center axis of the platform. The walls are faced with brown marble. A set of sculptures by Alexander Kibalnikov is located at one of the platform's ends. The stations has been closed since 12 November 2022 due to the reconstruction works.

Kashirskoye Highway or Kashira Highway (Russian: Каширское шоссе, Kashirskoye Shosse) is a major street in Moscow, Russia, continued as a highway beyond the city into Moscow Oblast as a backup route for highway M4. It was named in the 19th century after the old Kashira Road, which led to the town of Kashira. It was one of the sites of the Russian apartment bombings of 1999. Along the road, major landmarks include the Saburovo Church and the Orekhovo-Borisovo Cathedral.

Biryulyovo Tovarnaya (Russian: Бирюлёво-Товарная, Biryulyovo Cargo Station) is a railway station located in Biryulyovo Zapadnoye and Biryulyovo Vostochnoye Districts of Moscow, Russia. The station serves suburban traffic of Paveletsky suburban railway line. The northbound trains terminate at Moscow Paveletsky railway station in Moscow. The southbound trains terminate at the stations of Biryulyovo Passazhirskaya, Domodedovo, Barybino, Mikhnevo, Stupino, Kashira, Ozherelye, and Uzunovo. The station is operated by the Moscow Railway. The next station in the northern direction is Chertanovo, and the next one in the southern direction is Biryulyovo-Passazhirskaya. There is a connecting railway track which runs north and crosses to the Kursky suburban railway line; there is no passenger traffic along this track. Biryulyovo-Tovarnaya has access to Medynskaya Street and Bulatnikovsky Lane (west), as well as to Kasimovskaya Street (east). The public bus traffic is organized. The station is surrounded by a residential area. The station was opened in 1900 when the railway connecting Moscow and Pavelets was built to connect Moscow to Ryazan-Ural Railway. Initially, the station was named Zagorye after the name of the closest village. Until September 1900, Paveletsky railway station in Moscow was not yet completed, and the trains from the station of Zagorye followed to the Kursky railway station. Subsequently, the station was renamed Biryulyovo according to another village, located further away, and the name was transferred to the settlement which was built to serve the station. In the 1910s, the station of Biryulyovo was separated into a cargo station (Biryulyovo-Tovarnaya) and a passenger station (Biryulyovo-Passazhirskaya). Eventually, in 1936 a passenger platform was built on Biryulyovo-Tovarnaya as well, while the cargo station continued to operate. In 1953, the railway stretch between Moscow and Domodedovo, including Biryulyovo Tovarnaya, was electrified. In 1960, the station, together with the urban-type settlement of Biryulyovo, was included into Moscow.

National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) (Russian: Национальный исследовательский ядерный университет "МИФИ") is a public technical university in Moscow, Russia. It was founded in 1942 as the Moscow Mechanical Institute of Munitions, but was soon renamed the Moscow Mechanical Institute. Its original mission was to train skilled personnel for the Soviet military and Soviet atomic bomb project. It was renamed the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute in 1953, which was its name until 2009. By the Order of the Government of Russia on April 8, 2009 (#480-r) on behalf of Russian President's Decree of October 7, 2008 (#1448) "On the pilot project launching on creating National Research Universities" MEPhI was granted this new status. The university was reorganized. The aim of the university existence is now preparing the specialists by giving them higher professional, post-graduation professional, secondary professional and additional professional education, as well as educational and scientific activities.In 2022, QS World University rankings rated the university #308 in the world, World University Rankings by Times Higher Education ranked the university #401 in the world, and in 2023 U.S. News & World Report rated the university #483 in the world.

Orekhovo (Russian: Орехово) is a Moscow Metro station in Orekhovo-Borisovo Severnoye District, Southern Administrative Okrug, Moscow. It is on the Zamoskvoretskaya Line, between Tsaritsyno and Domodedovskaya stations. Entances are situated on the edge of Tsaritsyno park, at the intersection of Shipilovsky drive and Bazhenov street. Orekhovo opened on 30 December 1984 as part of an extension but was closed the very next day because of flooding. It reopened on 9 February 1985. The station was designed by architects L. Popov, V. Volovich, and G. Mun. Both the walls and pillars are faced with white marble, and there is a cast bronze sculpture by L. Berlin (devoted to the theme "Protection of Nature") above the escalators. The entrances to the station are located between Shipilovsky Prospekt and Bazhenova Street, on the east side of Tsaritsino Park.

Moskvorechye-Saburovo District (Russian: райо́н Москворе́чье-Сабу́рово) is an administrative district (raion) of Southern Administrative Okrug, and one of the 125 raions of Moscow, Russia. The area of the district is 9.30 square kilometers (3.59 sq mi).

NEVOD (Russian: НЕВОД, НЕйтринный ВОдный Детектор, Neutrino Water Detector; nevod means "dragnet" in Russian) is a neutrino detector and cosmic ray experiment that attempts to detect Cherenkov radiation arising from interactions between water and charged particles (mostly muons). It represents the first attempt to perform such measurements at the Earth's surface; it is because of this surface deployment that the experiment is also able to investigate cosmic rays. NEVOD is situated at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI). The term NEVOD experimental complex is used of the experimental complex built around the original water Cherenkov detector for the study of cosmic rays; as of 2018, the experimental complex consists of: the Cherenkov water detector (the eponymous NEVOD detector), a coordinate-tracking detector DECOR, an array of scintillation detectors forming the calibration telescopes system CTS, and PRISMA array of thermal neutron detectors. As of 2018, the experimental complex is being expanded by three new cosmic ray detectors: NEVOD-EAS (for determination of cosmic ray air shower parameters), URAN (neutron detector) and TREK (drift chamber detector). Part of the new detectors are under operation (in 2018).The experimental complex used to also have a muon hodoscope URAGAN which was operational in 2016 and years prior. Current (2019) status of URAGAN is unknown.
