Blackstairs Mountains

Mount Leinster (Irish: Stua Laighean, pronounced [sˠt̪ˠuə ˈl̪ˠəinˠ]) is a 794-metre-high (2,605 ft) mountain in the Republic of Ireland. It straddles the border between Counties Carlow and Wexford, in the province of Leinster. It is the fifth-highest mountain in Leinster after Lugnaquilla 925 metres (3,035 ft), Mullaghcleevaun 849 metres (2,785 ft), Tonelagee 817 metres (2,680 ft), and Cloghernagh 800 metres (2,600 ft), and the highest of the Blackstairs Mountains. A 2RN transmission site tops the peak with a mast height of 122 metres (400 ft).

County Carlow ( KAR-loh; Irish: Contae Cheatharlach) is a county located in the Southern Region of Ireland, within the province of Leinster. The town of Carlow was founded by the Normans in 1207 and the county was shired shortly thereafter, making it one of the oldest counties in Ireland. During the 14th century, the county was the seat of power of the Kingdom of Leinster, as well as the capital of the Lordship of Ireland from 1361 to 1374.

Myshall (Irish: Míseal (derived from Maigh Íseal), meaning 'the low plain') is a village, townland and civil parish in County Carlow, Ireland. The village is 22 km (14 mi) southeast of Carlow town, on the slopes of Mount Leinster and on the R724 regional road.

Monbeg (Irish: an Mhoing Bheag) is a townland seven miles (11 km) north-west of Enniscorthy, Ireland, in County Wexford. The population is about 101 inhabitants. There are views of surrounding areas from Monbeg Lane. The name Monbeg is derived from the Irish Mhuine Bheag, which means Mossy Fen.

Kildavin (Irish: Cill Damháin) is a small village in County Carlow, Ireland and belongs to Clonegal parish. Situated on at the junction of the N80 national secondary road and the R724 regional road, it lies 5 km north of Bunclody, County Wexford at the northern end of the Blackstairs Mountains.

Borris (Irish: An Bhuiríos, formerly Buirgheas Ó nDróna) is a village on the River Barrow, in County Carlow, Ireland. It lies on the R702 regional road. Borris has views of the neighbouring countryside with Mount Leinster and the Blackstairs Mountains to the east, and the Barrow Valley to the west. It is the home to Borris House, the ancestral home of the MacMurrough Kavanaghs.
